It’s exactly a year since Fabian Delph was the first to climb aboard last season’s 10 yellow card Suspension Tightrope. For the last six games, the Villa midfielder had the chance to repeat that feat but, while he continued to press his claims for international recognition, including a goal (and own goal) in the win over West Brom in January, a defeated opponent from that Midlands derby has been steadily making his way up the charts to pip Delph at the post.

With a third booking of 2014 secured in stoppage time against Fulham at The Hawthorns on Saturday, Jonas Olsson became the first man to reach nine yellows this season and subsequently earn first place on the second tightrope of the season.

Replacing Olsson in the band on eight yellows, was Everton’s Gareth Barry, booked (eventually) for a series of fouls in the Saturday lunchtime defeat to Chelsea. The Toffees midfielder joins David Luiz, Marouane Chamakh, Wayne Rooney, Jon Walters and Claudio Yacob, who, along with the aforementioned Delph, made it through the weekend with his copybook unblotted.

This week’s Tightrope, which highlights those players with at least seven cautions accrued, now has 23 names. Four teams supply us with three players apiece – West Brom (Olsson, Yacob and Fabrice Mulumbu), Villa (Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor and Ciaran Clark, Chelsea (Luiz, Branislav Ivanovicand Ramires and Newcastle (Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Cheick Tiote.

With no new suspensions from the weekend, we just need to tidy up the returning faces, as Craig Bellamy, Wes Brown and Andy Carroll are once again available for selection. While Bellamy and Carroll face up to fixtures at Spurs and Everton respectively, Brown is set for a Capital One Cup Final clash with City and, with an FA Cup fixture the following weekend, won’t be back for league duties until March 15, when the Black Cats welcome Palace to the Stadium of Light in Gameweek 20.

I know Premiership games have been played at same time as CL matches but it is very unusual for that to happen and I am pretty sure UEFA have a rule against it. My guess for the rescheduled fixture is GW31.

Got a number of possible moves I could do this week, help me pick which ones. (1FT, 0 itb)

    A) Kolarov to Olsson
    B) Reid to Olsson
    C) Cazorla to Nolan
    D) Kolarov + Reid to Azpi + Olsson (-4)
    E) Save the FT.

Atm, I'm thinking A or B, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it??

    GW28: Chester & Silva ➡ Ivanovic & Snodgrass

to give me this team for the GW29:

    ----------------- Marshall ------------------
    ------ Terry - Ivan - Fonte - Ward -----

    ------------------ JRod ---------------------

      Cahill Fonte Ward Olsson

      Hazard Lallana Mata Noone

      Adebayor

Sub: Adrian, Mannone, Koscielny, Yaya, Sturridge, Suarez

I have 3 transfers between now and start of GW29 so probably do Koscielny to Azpi and not decided if I will get a keeper in yet.

Can anyone beat this for stupidity? - Saturday night while looking at pending rises and drops, I transferred AJ for Nolan - thinking Nolan had a fixture in 29 and forgetting the whole Hull playoff thing. For 2 weeks I've been planning and carrying an extra transfer to enable me to better deal with the week 29 blankpocalypse, only to surrender a transfer on a blanking player. WTF

Now I can't decide whether to take hits to bring players in and out or just take a loss in 29 and hopefully make it up in the doubles without taking hits - but do I really want to hold Nolan until he has a double? So annoying.

My buddy slept on making one of his 2 free transfers and lost it, but I think this might be worse. Only silver lining is that Nolan is set to rise twice because of other idiots like me! 🙂

With all of the gw29ers playing each other, the chances of getting anything more than 2 points from a new pick-up diminish pretty quickly. Pick up both a Che defender and Tot attacker and something has to give, for example -- hate it when my transfers are going up against others in my team...

What are folks general plans .......

Fill up with Chelsea for 2 weeks and then look at triple city and a few united players ?

See out GW29 with 9 or 10 players with no hits.

Play WC and rake in the points and finish the season in the top 10k.

I will have double City and one United, not sure if I will risk triple yet.

Anyone else refuse to buy Nolan? Such a grubby trade

I don't feel he's trustworthy enough, and West Ham seem to be facing some tough defensive teams soon. I'd hold off on getting him unless needs must.

      Grubby?

I didn't buy him because he could miss GW29. It looks like he will so I'll just get him later for a DGW, if there is no midweek game.

I like a high quality midfielder. Haz yaya lallana Caz etc. Nolan just a bit sub par

That said just seen his MOTD interview. Seems like a good lad

With Carroll back I'm hoping the bromance will bloom and atleast one of them will become a real fantasy football option.

Thanks. So no rescheduled dates confirmed yet. Surely correct plan is to wait until as late as poss before transfers in case of white smoke

Sort of glad west ham don't play, means i won't be tempted to buy nolan again, which didn't work last season. Might just buy snodgrass, give him two weeks and see what happens. Was gonna get ince but the fixtures are difficult.

Willian gets game time but not much in FF points, better off with Terry and Ivan I think.

punt on Willian could be good, but I think I'll pass. Prefer double defence and obvious Haz

hmm, for GW29 I'm looking at

    a) Yaya to Snodgrass/Adam/Willian

    b) Demel to Cahill (double Chelsea defence, but can't afford Ivan or JT)

          so to drop Yaya >nolan/snod/other
best to wait further down the week to know if any chance Nolan will play gw 29?
and thus risk future price rise of the yaya mids replacements?

    A) AJ > Snodgrass
    B) AJ + Silva > Snodgrass and Puncheon (-4)
    C) AJ + Silva + R Bennet > Snodgrass + Puncheon and Azpi (-8)

    Other?

    How's this look for GW28?

    Boruc
    Cahill Azpil Kosc Demel
    Hazard Lallana Puncheon
    Adebayor Sturridge Suarez

    Davis; Yaya, Mata, Mariappa

    Worth a hit of Mariappa -> Dann/Parr?
