We roll out a new early-week regular this afternoon. Essentially, we take a quick look at the new names taking their place on the top-flight’s treatment tables and give you a heads-up on the injury worries sustained over the weekend. As always, you can track all the outs and doubts throughout the week via our injuries and bans table.

Arsenal
Arsene Wenger confirmed Mesut Ozil missed out of the 4-1 win over Sunderland after picking up a thigh problem but reckons the German “should be available” for next week’s trip to Stoke. Both Laurent Koscielny (back) and Nacho Monreal (foot) were subbed off in the second half, whilst Jack Wilshere – who played the full 90 minutes – has a tight hamstring.

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert revealed after the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle that his decisions to sub off both Ryan Bertrand and Ashley Westwood were enforced. The left-back had been struggling with a virus prior to the match, whilst Westwood sustained a dead leg and was unable to continue.

Chelsea
John Obi Mikel missed out with an unspecified injury, whilst Oscar lasted until half-time before being replaced by Ramires. After the game, Jose Mourinho explained the Brazilian’s withdrawal ahead of the midweek clash with Galatasaray:

“Today he was saying he could cope with the pain, it’s not a dangerous one, just a painful one. He said he could cope with the situation, clearly he couldn’t. We have three days so let’s see. With Mikel and David Luiz, I don’t know.”

Everton
Lacina Traore was named in the starting line-up for Saturday’s trip to The Bridge but picked up a hamstring problem during the pre-match warm-up and was replaced in the XI by Steven Naismith.

Hull
Both Tom Huddlestone and Alex Bruce were subbed off with knocks, according to reports in the local press. The pair were withdrawn on 63 minutes and 71 minutes of the 4-0 rout but are expected to be available for this evening’s FA Cup clash with Brighton.

Man City
Stevan Jovetic lasted just 13 minutes of Saturday’s win over Stoke before falling foul to injury. The forward emerged from the bench to replace Alvaro Negredo on 56 minutes but was quickly subbed off for Javi Garcia after sustaining a hamstring problem.

Newcastle
Hatem Ben Arfa missed out for the Magpies after picking up a knock which prevented him from training prior to the visit of Villa. Reports in the local press revealed Davide Santon was rested by Alan Pardew due to an ongoing knee problem.

Swansea
Neil Taylor was afforded a rare start at left-back for the Swans after Ben Davies missed yesterday’s defeat to Liverpool with “a slight calf problem,” according to the club’s official match report. After bagging a first-half wonder goal, Jonjo Shelvey was withdrawn at the break with a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Tottenham
Tim Sherwood missed two of the back-four that started the previous Gameweek, after Kyle Walker and Younes Kaboul were ruled out of the trip to Norwich with hip and calf knocks respectively. Etienne Capoue lasted just 14 minutes of the Carrow Road defeat before limping off – he subsequently left the ground on crutches.

West Brom
Billy Jones was forced off just prior to half-time in the Baggies draw with Fulham. A tactical reshuffle saw Victor Anichebe replace the stricken defender – Pepe Mel admitted the Nigerian was only fit enough for the bench after picking up a knock in training.

sticking until there is more news. he was back training the day before the game so unless he had a set-back that day he'll surely be back by gw29. if you're going to miss a match best to miss a 0-4 loss at home, none of his rivals took their opportunity

This. Shaw plays GW29, so I'd keep him. Look to ditching those without a game on the same week. Anyway, as for the first move, wait until tonight. If Hull beat Brighton, then I don't see any point in bringing in Nolan. Do Johnson for Snodgrass/Zaha/Ince instead.

I've given up on Silva now, especially with 2 blank GWs. Question is who to replace him with?

    current MF:

    Lallana, Haz, Januzaj, Mirallas, silva

Can't bring in Sterling unless Mign gets the boot too! The irony was I was going to get rid of Mign a couple of weeks ago but I brought in Mirallas but the game was supsended!!

Trying not to Panic this week.

4 United/City players out with missing gameweek.
    2 injured players (Koscielny, Bruce)
    1 player not starting (Whittingham)

Should I WC or use my 2FT + Hit to field a team and save WC for double gameweeks?

Agree, maybe not best, but certainly important to their previous style and was playing well.

Ole hasn't covered himself in glory dropping Whittingham and Burner IMO, the two were consistent.

He's not their best player, but he was playing well and proving a solid performer in a decent start to the season.

Ole has rushed in and his inexperience is being exposed.

Called the Cardiff defensive implosion when Mackay was sacked. Almost immediately got rid of Burner. His defensive organization and pressing was the only thing between them and annihilation.

Totally - no need to drop those guys in particular, not the flashiest, but perhaps the 'heartbeat'.

He could/should've added a bit of pizzazz around them.

He could have, they did have problems scoring goals, but were out of the relegation zone when he was sacked if I recall correctly. Now they look like toast. Got a bit unlucky with Cornelius getting injured as I'm sure he was a big part of his plans, it's hard to even call him a flop, barely seen more of him than Yaya Sanogo.

As we all know Tan was tight on the purse strings so Mackay got who he could - with the exception of Cornelius I think he spent the money very well on the areas that needed work. Tan told him he couldn't spend any more, then went back on that when Ole came in and let him bring in some flashy players so he could prove Mackay wrong...

sooo..... what with the upcoming dgw frenzy im thinking about trying to be as flexable as possible in order to maximise my dgw big hitter options. this basicaly involves using my 3 free transfers to revert to an uber cheap defence that have a gw 29 fixture, and then for instance ditching saurez for rvp to allow having a banging dgw 31 frontline. i lose 1m on saurez when i want him back, but surely its time to forget tv and just get the dgw players you think will get the points.
in summary, free up cash then chop and change till the finish line.
    sound good?
    any thoughts on this strat?

Liverpool could also have a double in GW31 - so you may not need RVP. But as long as you can afford to get Suarez back in, it isn't a bad plan.

+1 0.3 fall at the least is my guess. Early holders probably not selling but 2 GWs of 10mil sitting on the bench for people chasing in leagues may be too much.

Then you have the Yaya holders who are also early holders of Coleman, Sturridge, Suarez, etc all out GW29. Partial Suarez migration already on. More people already dumped Yaya today than Suarez.

Yaya will drop twice before GW28, and at least once more after.

Can't be arsed tbh to check the Cardiff winger situation for myself, so who's currently playing on each wing and who are the greatest threats to their places? I have Noone, he's on the right right? (intentional) Is there any credible risk to his spot by the GW29 FUL game?

Cheers, it is a minefield, particularly with some of those players being able to play in the middle if I recall correctly - Whittingham and Mutch right? I guess Noone has been playing regularly and perhaps his main competition is Bellamy as Zaha is playing on the left. So yeah might be OK.

yeah mutch was a one off game and whittingham seemed infrequently too (not even sure at all under solskjaer).

i'd gamble on noone and zaha as the wingers, even if bellamy was back

There are threats to Noone, but he has been looking one of their better players so hopefully he can hold out for GW 29.

I'm not confident though, who knows what could happen, he could change it up (again) after the Hull defeat.

Yeah, Ole's situation is becoming more desperate and in those situations he could easily fumble around with the teamsheets.

Frustrating really with Noone, we can all see he's got potential and he hit the bar recently.

    Plan is to hold Mata.

    I'm thinking either...

    Januzaj > Puncheon
    Gabbidon> Dann

Probably more upside in the move to Puncheon this week as itd be for a hit and defensively its an away game reduced chance of CS.
