Another set of double Gameweek fixtures dropped into the schedule this week to further befuddle the Fantasy Football Scout community, with Newcastle, Arsenal, Swansea and Everton joining the Gameweek 31 party. We look back at the raft of hot topics this fixture change provoked, take a walk of shame by admitting our season faux pas and find time to meander down memory lane to revisit our favourite and most notorious World Cup moments. We also drop in on all the latest standings and ties in the community’s tournaments.

The Hottest Topics

While we’re all pre-occupied with bringing in new recruits for Gameweek 31, it also presents some tough choices regarding benching form players with just a single fixture. Irish Madrista asked whether Eden Hazard owners plan to oust the electrifying midfielder in favour of a double Gameweek player. Meanwhile, Rosola went one step further and asked which non-double gameweek players the community will be ditching. John Terry, Eden Hazard and Southampton keeper Artur Boruc are among those mentioned as “untouchables”.

Sergio Aguero has already being discussed as a key Gameweek 31 pick for many, although Innsie wonders if there are perhaps other options. His post comparing Aguero and Newcastle striker Loic Remy proved interesting and surprising reading. It’s a subject that surfaced again this evening, with Nate dropping in with another Sunday evening hot topic, talking up Romelu Lukaku’s claims for inclusion in our plans.

When it comes to midfield options, we find both West Ham’s Kevin Nolan and Sunderland’s Adam Johnson firmly on many a watchlist. The pair of mid-price contenders are vying for community’s affections and came under the microscope of Evilfuk this week, who looked closely at points per game as well as home and away statistics.

Elsewhere, Wednesday’s international friendlies gave the community a chance to reminisce about World Cups of yesteryear. Demel asked which was our favourite World Cup, with Colonel Wasabi nominating the 1978 Argentina tournament – his first chance to get his mits on a World Cup sticker album. Meanwhile, Rayne Wooney asked for opinion on the dirtiest World Cup team, with the Chile squad of the 1962 the stand out selection for Portsmouth Bubbeljet.

Earlier in the week, Giggs Boson invited some community purging as he quizzed us on our most shameful decision this season. Parmtree was among those in confessional mood, openly admitting to his Nani purchase and finding back-up from Granville. Mark also chirped up with another mention of his failure to adopt Aaron Ramsey. He’s still losing sleep over that.

Finally, if you’re dabbling with your Ultimate Fantasy Premier League Wildcard right now, be sure to check out Archie’s superb analysis of the weekend fixture breakdowns. Brilliant stuff.

The Community Tournaments

With a score of 67, Irina’ss emerged as the winner of Gameweek 28’s Scout Picks Challenge, which is loosely based on our very own Scout Picks and has been created by @ocprodigy. The picks themselves finished a credible fourth with 64 points this week.

In TorresMagic‘s Leagues, Intranisigent topped Last Man Standing where 20 managers got eliminated leaving 95 to move on. Sara Oxyzoglu scored best in Millionaire Club, where only 9 managers survived as 44 went broke. In addition, his FPL Open first round draw is available here.

ENR, Bootsy, Jonty, Billy Ketsu, Jambo17 and Koneheads were the league leaders going into the Gameweek 29 in In Tommy We Trust’s All Things competitions.

Ahead of Gameweek 29, Gaz Downright continued to tighten his grip on first place in the Fantasy Football Scout’s Moderators and Contributors.

The Iron Man competition, for those taking part in multiple games, saw no changes in the top spots with Gigging Order and In Like Flynn continuing in first place in the competition’s Sky and Metro leagues respectively and Jonty retaining the FPL lead.

          for me yes. Silva has done nothing this season. Nasri is hitting some decent form and he is not affraid to shot on the goal in the opposition to Silva...

          Expect 2,3,5, max 6 points from Silva

    Who are people going for as a 5th mid (especially those on wildcard this/next week) ?

    I am leaning towards someone with a future DGW, but not certainly. He will be benched for DGW31 anyway.

    The likes of Puncheon, Bacuna, Delph, Ki (have AJ though) are crossing my mind.. Would you go for any of them or somebody else? Is it worth to focus only on those with a future DGW ?

    "Long post" alert, I need some advice from you.
    I did Ade -> Aguero last night because of his price rise, now my big question is;
    Is it really worth WC'ing this round?

    I can field this team in the DGW (with no hits, only transfer is Mata -> Yaya) if I save my WC.

    Mannone* (Boruc)
    Evra* Azpi Demel* (Ward, Chambers)
    Snoddy Hazard Yaya* Lallana (Noone)
    Aguero* SaS*

    Would these transfers be worth spending WC for?

    Evra -> Baines
    Ward -> Davies
    Snoddy -> AJ
    Lallana -> Sterling/Mirallas

    Mannone* (Boruc)
    Baines* Davies* Demel* (Azpi, Chambers)
    Sterling* Hazard Yaya* AJ* (Noone)
    Aguero* SaS*

          true

          I'm in a similar position which is why I'm asking what you'd save it for. because I can get a decent team out for the dgw without my wc but I can get a better team out with my wc. and I'm not sure if there's a good reason to save it....

            I can get a decent team as well, but I'm looking to get the best out of it. Most of the players I would WC in have good fixtures this week, the double ofc + a few games after so I don't feel I'm "wasting" my WC only to field 10 DGW players with no plan after round 31.

          Could be the best time to use it next week, when injuries/bans are known.
          I think it really comes down to your MLs at this time of year, had I not squandered my WC early in the season It would be now or the last couple of weeks if I had play0off H2H £ ML to consider.

    Okay, so I am looking for a little guidance lads. The league leader is becoming a little too cocky for my liking, 80 points ahead, and wont stop boasting about it. I cannot explain how much I would love to catch him.

    My Team;

    Mannone - Marshall
    Coleman - Koscielny - Olsson - Chambers - Ward
    Hazard - Oscar - Lallana - Januzaj - Noone
    Suarez - Sturridge - Chamakh

    2 FT - 7.8 Banked

    My initial plans are to get Aguero in with Yaya or Silva.

    Oscar, Januzaj and Chamakh need to go.

    Suarez Sturridge Aguero

    My present team is strong enough but it'll take a -8 to get a decent 11 out for GW 31 and i have the likes of Evra Mata Boruc staring in GW 31 even with the -8 so it makes sense to take the plunge i think.. Chelsea defenders in for one of the big defenders after the Doubles

        I think so, personally. He's always had top-drawer performances in him and he's just getting back into form. It won't have escaped Pellegrini's notice that the golden period when they were smacking teams around for fun was with Nasri in the first team.

        I wouldn't hold onto a Palace defender just for a future DGW - the second game will be away at Everton which means 1 point for a defender, realistically. And the rest of their fixtures don't look like much.

        It is all about Nasri delivering the points though. I actually really love him as a player but his FPL output has always disappointed. At my most optimistic about Mirallas, I feel like he'll get 3 of the next 4 games. That is optimistic though.

      Was thinking of Collins over Chester as WHU have 2 home games but MANU seem to have finally hit some form.

      Also thinking Roon over Studge to go with Kun/Suarez.

        Otherwise i'm doing the same as you with Nasri and maybe even Chester over Collins.

        Apart from ManU, Winston Reid is a problem for Collins. How long before Collins drops back to the bench?

        Roon is a good shout as long as ManU can keep up the form and not need him to drop back and chase games from the centre of the park.

    Dear everyone not on a WC and buying Aguero...

    You are silly. If I weren't a City fan and didn't want him myself for GW31, I would wish (minor) injury on him.

    Love,

    Tinks

    Hm, I'm waiting 'til the Barca game is done before I touch any of the City players. People seem kinda trigger happy on here.

    Hey guys - 2FT here. Could do

    Mata, Rooney TO Yaya, Aguero.

    However, that's 2DGWers out for 2 in - seems very sideways when I need those FT to get others....

    What would you do?

    Mannone** Boruc
    Koscielny** Azpilicueta Bruce Ward Olsson
    Mata** Hazard Lallana Snodgrass Puncheon
    Suarez** Sturridge** Rooney**

    Need some opinions on my team. Getting myself ready for DGW.

    Current team:
    Boruc (Lewis)
    Zaba Koscielny Fonte Azp (Chester)
    Hazard Yaya Huddlestone (Colback, Bacuna)
    Suarez, Rodriguez, Rooney

    Possible transfers (DGW in mind):
    A) Rooney > Aguero - this week & Rodriguez + Azp > Lukaku + Collins/Debuchy - next week.
    B) Keep Rooney for DGW. Rodriguez + Azp > Lukaku + Distin.

    Or any of you can offer me better options?
