For the second week in succession, Jon Walters rebuilt his spot-kick reputation by firing Stoke’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Norwich. Just four minutes after scoring his fourth league goal of the season, however, the Republic of Ireland international blotted his copybook after seeing red for a challenge on the Canaries’ Alex Tettey in Saturday afternoon’s Carrow Road stalemate:

The dismissal – incidentally the first of his career – means Walters is set to miss the next three Gameweeks, as Mark Hughes’ side go head-to-head against West Ham, Villa and Hull. After the match, the Potters boss conceded he will reluctantly accept the ban:

“There is contact but the ball is bouncing and both players have got their feet high. I think there was an intention to win the ball by both players and unfortunately it’s been nicked away from Jon and he’s caught him on the follow-through, which he’s acknowledged. We are looking at Jon missing three games for that and I think it was one of those challenges which is just a matter of millimetres whether contact is made.”

Walters joins team-mate Charlie Adam on the sidelines, then; the Scot will miss the next two after earning a retrospective three-match ban from the FA last week.

According to reports in the local press, Tottenham are set to appeal the red card handed out to Younes Kaboul in Saturday’s defeat at Chelsea. If successful, the centre-half will be available for this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane – the outcome is due later in the week.

Swansea’s Chico Flores is set to serve a one-match ban against West Brom this weekend, whilst Nicklas Anelka has until Thursday to appeal the five-match ban dished out for his quenelle gesture back in December. In the meantime, the forward has been suspended by the Baggies until the situation is resolved.

In this week’s Suspension Tightrope, we have a couple of new additions edging closer towards a potential ban. Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin both earned their eighth cautions of the campaign – two more yellows prior to Gameweek 34 and they’ll be looking at time on the sidelines.

Being nailed on if other areas are pretty close is significant, though -- both have plenty of attacking threat, prices are similar, too.

Surprised liverpool strikers are so low down on the captain poll. Two things, I guess, united can make it a hard game with half the team acting as destroyers, and liverpool are away. But...it is old trafford where united are worse, and they do play Olympiakos 3 days later. For liverpool, they'll know that this is the second game they must win to win the title.

hmm, interesting, in that case, if you can afford to bench him this week, consider Flanagan

If Agger plays I can see 2 CS for Pool in DGW.

Got both Cahill and Azpil at the moment. Looking to move one out.

    A) who should it be?
    B) and who for?

Will probably have about 1 mill in the bank.

Thinking might have to be Azpil -> Distin or Kolarov.

I'd prefer Cahill over Azpi, but it depends how much you paid for each of them.

      Don't rate either of those

Distin = no attacking or BAP threat

      Kolarov = not nailed

Smalling? I'm downgrading Mata to AJ to do Azpi to Baines

True that. Kolarov is 5 ppg though. I bought Cahill recently so selling value is like 6.1 mill? And Azpil is 5.4 mill selling value!

I don't know whether I like Baines... And if I were to get him it would be for Cahill.

Don't think I want a united defender for the double, it's basically a single because city will probably score...

It's a tricky one! Might have to be a city defender.

My tactic so far has been to wait to see opponents team and make a couple of transfers to match their main players, with a few differentials. Currently on van Persie, Mata and Adebayor. Wanting to change to Aguero, Suarez and Yaya for -4 but would need to make transfers tonight with Ade's impending price fall. That would mean risking my cup opponent having the players I've got rid of and if they score big I'll be kicking myself.

        Maybe I'm overthinking this... Lol

Do people really think Sterling is a viable option for the dgw if playing a 3-4-3, and one of those spots is also taken up by Hazard?

I'm having my doubts, but would be interested in others views...

I am getting him in, mainly as he's the best Pool attack I can afford to go with Suarez. I see no reason for him not to continue starting. He is playing well. could make the world cup and doesn't need resting.

He may get the odd rest, but I don't think BR is the type of manager who just dumps players to the bench without a good reason

The contrast in performance and quality of the two teams' half-back pairings was comical. 😆

Farrell's control over the game was sublime, Priestland's thumbles and poor kicks from hand losing territory was bad to watch. Dan Biggar is solid albeit not as high quality as Farrell of course. 🙂

I think he is a decent option due to the fact Pool are facing 2 weaker teams which should increase his chances of starting both.

Having said that, I'd have liked to have Gerrard instead but my crappy TV has forced me to gamble on him.

        this

I had to chose between Gerrard and Distin or Baines and Sterling. I felt the extra doubles for Baines swung it in his favour and I felt Sterling was a better substitute for Gerrard than Distin is for Baines.

      I'm on this as well.

But every time I look at Sterling I end up dropping a defender and going for Gerrard lol.

I'm considering Azpi, Lallana, Rooney > Chester, Gerrard, Kun for a hit.

I could just go Lallana & Rooney > Sterling & Kun without a hit, but something keeps pulling me back to Stevie.

A few games ago when he seemed pretty nailed I would definitely have got him and played him next week, over hazard if necessary. He is commonly playing in a front 3 in a free scoring team so points will continue to happen. However I'm starting to worry about his minutes now so may look elsewhere as even if he gets a reasonable couple of outings for the DGW I don't want a 5th Mf I can't rely on.
