With a ferocious Gameweek 32 put to bed we check out the stats that matter in the Sky game using the usual info, including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 33.

Gameweek 32 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

Cardiff vs LiverpoolLuis Suarez

Tottenham vs SouthamptonChristian Eriksen
Aston Villa vs StokePeter Crouch

A fairly even spread of awards this week amongst the attacking positions, with forwards claiming six and midfielders seven – defenders picked up the remaining two. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is still out in front overall with a total of nine awards, although Luis Suarez (8) and Wayne Rooney (7) are hot on his heels.

Gameweek 32 Bonus Points

Six goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week – Vito Mannone was the only keeper to gather bonus in both his fixtures, further strengthening his position as the king of bonus with 24 additional points accumulated so far.

In defence, a total of 20 players gathered bonus, 15 for tackles and seven for passes completed – full-back Leighton Baines managed tackling bonus twice and centre-back Martin Demichelis picked up both over the two games. Swansea’s Angel Rangel leads the way for defenders with 26 extra bonus points.

In midfield, 26 players earned bonus points – 11 for tackling and 23 for passes. Six midfielders managed to pick up bonus in both games, whilst Cheik Tiote managed tackling once and passing twice to earn himself an additional six points, putting him top of the pile in regards to bonus with 40 additional points.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AdebayorTottenham7.65.78%
NegredoMan City8.64.62%
Van PersieMan Utd103.70%
OzilArsenal8.83.55%
GiroudArsenal8.53.20%

The top four players out have all been suffering from injury or lack of first team opportunities in recent weeks and have consistently featured here, though Olivier Giroud stung his former owners this week popping up with a goal in the 2-2 draw against Swansea.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
SturridgeLiverpool9.26.80%
RooneyMan Utd9.64.73%
ToureMan City8.64.31%
BarkleyEverton4.33.60%
SterlingLiverpool4.83.21%

Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney and Yaya Toure have been continuing their recent good form and see their ownership continue to rise. Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling really have established themselves as the budget midfielders of choice – they often find themselves benched but invariably produce when given the opportunity, offering good value.

Gameweek 33 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 33 there is an option for three captains if you wish to use a transfer.

Our Strategy:
Wayne Rooney (Aston Villa at Home) → Luis Suarez (Tottenham at Home)

For the fixtures to be played on Saturday 29th, we’re hoping that Rooney brings Manchester United out of their latest slump and acts as the talisman once again as he proved in the West Ham game – if you don’t fancy Rooney’s chances, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard offers an enticing alternative as they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

For Sunday 30th a switch to Luis Suarez looks an obvious move as they play at Anfield against Tottenham – a side they beat 5-0 at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, exposing their high defensive line to great effect.

Monday night’s game sees Sunderland host West Ham at the Stadium of Light and provides the opportunity for a third captain if you wish to use a transfer – with Adam Johnson perhaps offering the best option.

However, with the following week’s fixtures in mind, we prefer to forgo this option as Sunderland don’t play until The following Monday away to Tottenham.

Here's me for this week. Everything in order? Thinking about captaining Hazard rather than the bitey fella but I dunno. No doubt I'll switch it between the two right up to deadline.

    Mannone
    Fonte, Azpilicueta, Coleman
    Yaya, Gerrard, AJ, Hazard (v)
    Suarez (c), Sturridge, J. Rod

    Subs: Adrian, Ki, Chester, Ward

Any transfers for a hit jump out at you? I'm considering Gerrard and J. Rod to Nasri and Rooney but it's exact money so it would probably need to be done soon before any prices change. Maybe after the deadline if no one looks like rising or falling tonight.

Don't you think Palace will tighten up? They've been hard to break down by the top teams. Whereas Tottenham is very suspect against the big teams who are tactically sound (City, Liverpool).

That being said, I would do Gerrard > Nasri..but keep JRod, he's got the form. But meh Gerrard will get a penalty.

    Hart

    Hazard Mirallas Nolan AJ Snodgrass
    SAS Lukaku

    1.9 banked and 1 FT.

Won't put options as that might skew opinion. Thoughts would be much much appreciated. Trying to salvage some ML pride this season and not fall too much more.

4.4 on a defender - so that's double. seems like it's quite logical to save the FT, max flexibity for 2 FTs in GW33...and then have enough to make the Aguero or no Aguero decision in GW34. Thoughts?

ya you can do Sturridge and Snodgrass to Aguero and cheapie in 34 (Snodgrass' fixtures awful for last 4 gameweeks).

This will mean no Yaya though. You ok with that. I resisted all season, every week i curse him, so got him for 31, and he got 31. He's very consistent even if that stats say he has to slow down his output

Yea i've resisted all season...what a stupid mistake on hindsight. Terribly stupid. I was close to getting Yaya for 31...but didn't so that's the end of it.

The painful fact is he had 4 shots over the 2 games. 4. 4 goals.

your looking at him wrong. He's the exception to the rule. He got 4 goals in 2 games.

I would leave as for this gameweek as you can field a very decent 11 (probably bench Nolan, Chester, Ward).

Next week get rid of Nolan for sure and maybe Mirallas if he looks like he has lost his place... You have an annoying benching issue so I would proably get a cheapie and Silva/Nasri for the DGWs.

Yup you laid that out pretty will. Mirallas/Nolan would be the 2 spots I switch around if i have 2 FTs next week. One City mid and cheapie is the plan in GW33...that will leave enough for decision in GW34 - to Aguero or not to Aguero!

Looks like saving is a good idea.

The problem with double Everton is that you wouldn't want them for any of their games following GW34 and you won't want to spend half your remaining transfers on defenders.

Not a popular opinion round here though. Everyone else is getting double Everton.
