Restricted to just ten matches, Gameweek 32 looks set to be an inevitable anti-climax after the recent triple-figure hauls. Nonetheless, with the double Gameweek chatter postponed, at least for a while, it’s almost comforting to return to the old routine – an early kick-off, the evening live match and a couple of Sunday joints to see the Gameweek out.

Today’s events promise to make an inauspicious start as we drop in on Old Trafford to witness a United side beleaguered by the midweek defeat to City and with one eye firmly on the clash with Bayern to come. It’s difficult to know what kind of performance that will produce from David Moyes’ men, although with pressure mounting, it’s hard to imagine that the Scot can afford to put out a side stuck in third gear. Villa will provide a test – Paul Lambert’s outfit are an effective animal on their travels and, in Christian Benteke, have a destructive force that can deal damage to a hesitant United back line.

This is all followed by five three o’clock matches, with Arsenal’s tea-time meeting with City to follow.

You can look to our Twitter feed for the news from the teamsheets, while our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for those who like to dabble in some real-time banter.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Villa have been pretty shite. But I do think Mata in the hole and Kagawa/Januzaj left does work.

Not against City necessarily, but it's better than the alternatives.

Against the bigger sides we need to play more direct wingers, like Welbeck, that are willing to run past players.

I think as ever it really comes down to your midfield. Completely outcompeted against City and Liverpool, not even managing to destroy the game the way Fergie was so good at in the big games. No one seems able to do a Darren Fletcher defensive job, not even Darren Fletcher. I don't think it's just the players, I think you need a manager who has an actual gameplan for particular opponents.

Fergie was superb at using his whole squad to exploit weaknesses and nullify strengths in opponents. I can still remember him using Jones to largely successfully man-mark Ronaldo and Fellaini.

I completely agree, the 4-3-3 counter attacking set-up we used to play was phenomenal, the workhorse Park spearheading the midfield, a front 3 of Tevez, Rooney & Ronaldo willing run past players and hit them on the counter.

And at home we relaxed and played a 4-4-2, bringing in Berbatov to partner Rooney/Tevez, Nani/Giggs on the left and a combo of Fletcher/Scholes/Carrick/Hargreaves in the middle, all quality.

Yep, expert use of different systems for different situations. I remember that season and it was just good management. Not systems for their own sake - systems to win.

It could've easily been a different score and you know it if you watched the game 😉
Impossible to predict that Villa will let Rooney stand all alone infront of goal when the rest of the United-team had 3 goals in total this season.. or that 3 defenders messes up in a row in the 2nd goal, or that Benteke misses so many good chances (and don't get his penalty). But fair enough I was wrong, 3-3 would've been a fair result
