It’s Friday afternoon and time to reassess our Sky teams once more. With only five Gameweeks to go, the pressure is on at the top of our mini-leagues – it’s a good idea, then, to take a look at our stats including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and current market trends. As always, we also scan ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 35.

Gameweek 34 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Man City vs SouthamptonDavid Silva
Aston Villa vs FulhamLewis Holtby
Cardiff vs Crystal PalaceJason Puncheon
Hull vs SwanseaCurtis Davies
Newcastle vs Man UnitedJuan Mata
Norwich vs West BromYoussouf Mulumbu
Chelsea vs StokeWillian
Everton vs ArsenalSteven Naismith
West Ham vs LiverpoolSteven Gerrard
Tottenham vs SunderlandChristian Eriksen

Midfielders dominate again this week, with only Steven Naismith, who is listed as a forward, and Hull defender Curtis Davies breaking the trend. A number of differential options are making a claim for our XI and could be useful for the run in if you’re chasing a mini-league rival. David Silva (5%), Juan Mata (7.4%), Willian (0.5%) and Christian Eriksen’s 2.6% ownership look the pick of the bunch and fit the mould for players most likely to receive MoTM – playmaking midfielders.

Gameweek 34 Bonus Points

Eight goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week with Adrian and Vito Mannone the top performers with six apiece. Mannone continues to rake in the bonus and is top of the pile with 28 additional points.

In defence, only six players gathered bonus, three for tackles and three for passes completed – full-back Cesar Azpilicueta came closest to achieving both, missing out by 13 completed passes. Swansea’s Angel Rangel leads the way for the defenders with 26 extra bonus points.

In midfield, 13 players earned bonus points – three for tackling and ten for passes. Stoke’s central midfielder Glenn Whelan was the closet to achieving both, missing out by just one completed pass. Cheik Tiote, Morgan Schneiderlin and Yaya Toure are the games top bonus earners with 40 extra points.

One forward managed bonus this week, as Emmanuel Adebayor, who featured in a slightly withdrawn role, racked up 62 completed passes to go with his two-goal haul, vindicating our choice for captain last week.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
RodriguezSouthampton7.98.29%
HazardChelsea8.85.35%
ToureMan City8.64.71%
RooneyMan United9.63.97%
NegredoMan City8.63.10%

A massive shake up considering the amount of active players that still have transfers remaining, with a host of big hitting options finding themselves shipped out. Jay Rodriguez is set to miss the rest of the season. Eden Hazard looks likely to miss a couple of games and, whilst Wayne Rooney has a blank Gameweek, Yaya Toure has recovered from a minor knock. Toure’s team-mate Alvaro Negredo continues to be shifted after a lack of first team opportunities.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AdebayorTottenham7.66.76%
LukakuEverton8.66.10%
GerrardLiverpool8.15.82%
SturridgeLiverpool9.24.90%
FlanaganLiverpool4.24.09%

Some tactical captain swaps seem to have shaped the market trends with Emmanuel Adebayor and Romelu Lukaku drafted in – probably due to these two being the most obvious routes to maximizing armband options over last/this week. As usual, Liverpool assets make up the rest of the top five due to their pre-season pricing and surprise title-challenge, with Jon Flanagan looking great value at just 4.2m.

Gameweek 35 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 35 there is a multitude of options due to the additional fixtures.

Our Strategy:
Emmanuel Adebayor (West Brom Away) → Sergio Aguero (Liverpool Away) → Sergio Aguero (Sunderland at Home)

For Saturday April 12’s fixtures there are a few options to consider, with Romelu Lukaku and Adam Lallana making strong claims also as they play Sunderland and Cardiff respectively. However, with Emmanuel Adebayor coming up trumps last week, we’re sticking by our man as he travels to The Hawthorns.

For Sunday 13, a switch to a Man City player looks the best option as although they travel to Anfield for a tough game against Liverpool, they then play again on Wednesday 16 at home to Sunderland – a potential massacre.

Interestingly if you transfer out your Saturday captain for a Man City player you will have ‘banked’ your captain change and can use it after the Gameweek has finished in order to prepare for Gameweek 36.

that is the problem i guess already have coleman as well and will have to get rid of both of them by gw 36 to get in rooney ...but if rooney is defo out i might hold onto coleman..baines could get massive points in the next 3 including at home to utd

I have coleman and won't be taking a -4 to get baines even though i think he may score big, last double taught me to not break a team for short term gains. If you do want Baines after like you suggest then it makes sense however.

I can afford either Silva or Nasri, who to pick? Normally I'd get Silva without question but this ankle business makes me wonder if he could get rested in one or both of City's midweek DGW matches.

Either is fine I believe. I saw a quote earlier in the week that Silva's was bruising from a kick and the suggestion he was sitting out training was not a long term thing.

      Owner of both here.

It depends on what you do with the extra funds. For me, it was the difference between Kun and no Kun. So I've gone Nasri.

Originally, Nasri was a cert for my GW34 team as Silva was too expensive. Hazard's injury means he's the midfielder to make way instead of Michu so Silva becomes an option.

Anybody knows what exactly is happening?

"Atletico’s president Enrique Cerezo had claimed that the club could not afford the fee, believed to be above €10 million, required in order for the on-loan goalkeeper to feature against his parent side.

But after the two sides were paired together in Friday's draw, Uefa stated any clause in the 21-year-old's contract with Chelsea is “null, void and unenforceable” during a Champions League fixture."

If Chelsea management didn't knew this before & sill did a clause what a fool we are! According to this above statement they don't even have to pay any compensation! Strange.

He will play and Atletico will pay. The Chief Exec also said Chelsea will review UEFA's comments, both clubs signed a contract so I don't see how the circumstances will change now just to favour Atletico. If they feel Courtouis is worth it, they will play him and pay the money, simples.

Without any hatred towards your club as such, I think most people in the world feel it's fair play that Courtois can play against Chelsea. You and city are hogging the young talents and never letting them play and that is pretty annoying. It's just destroying dreams of talented kids. To many, me included, it will probably feel like justice if Courtois drops Chelsea out of CL. Not because it would feel justice that Chelsea is dropped as such, but because Courtois was brought to Chelsea as an immense talent and they're not willing to give him the chance he deserves. Just like I would be happy to see Lukaku playing against Chelsea in PL and scoring a hatty. Revenge of the disregarded player.

    Team is currently

    Manonne, Marshall
    Zab, Coleman, Ward, Chester, Azp
    Yaya, Silva, Hazard, Snodgrass, Lallana

Nolan seems a major weak link. Might as well try and throw Colback in there, just in case.

    Boruc* (Davis*)
    Terry* Ward Distin Chester Zabaleta
    Silva Yaya Eriksen Hazard* Colback
    Suarez Lukaku Sturridge

    *Denotes injury/flag

    A) Sturridge, Hazard, Zabaleta -> Aguero, Mirallas, Cahill
    B) Sturridge, Hazard, Zabaleta -> Aguero, Ramsey, Coleman (just short of baines)

    Arguments for each:

A - U fortunately have to get rid of 1 Man city player to fit aguero. The reasoning behind picking Cahill is that I couldn't get an Everton/Man city defender, and I would probably want Cahill next week anyway.

B - My closest rival (I'm leading by 37 points) got Ramsey in last week, and has double Everton defense. That way, I account for some I his differentials, and I think Ramsey is a better punt than mirallas after this GW.

    Any thoughts?

    b) Do Sterling -? Ramsey and stick til the end.
    b) Hold Sterling and have the option to get AJ, Ramsey in the coming weeks

I don't get what the big fuss about the Courtouis thing is. Chelsea fans aren't making much noise, I dunno why anyone's too bothered haha....

If Courtouis does well, Jose will probably bring him to the Bridge. #WinWin

That's not a win win if he makes a vital contribtion to knocking you out of the Champions League. He made some cracking saves at the San Siro in the last 16.

Did Hazard and Carroll to Eriksen and Aguero, can I get some review on my team, My Team:
    Cech
    Ivan, Baines, Pieters
    Yaya, Silva, Eriksen, JWP
    Suarez, Aguero, Sturridge
    Bench: Mata, Yoshida, Dummet
Lack DGW players but i think I have covered all players who can cause damage plus no other DGW player is quiet tempting
All suggestions are appreciated, Thanx! 🙂

Having only one player from Everton may cause you a red arrow this GW, after that this is good.

My plan was always Hazard to Mata in GW36. I can do this for free GW35.

Worth for this GW doing Hazard -> Silva for a hit?

    reposting

packing for a trip and so have to do my transfers now and set the team..

    Zaba + Sturridge > Coleman + Aguero for -4?

    leaves me with:

    ..................Speroni
    ...Baines (c) - Ward - Coleman
    Nasri - Yaya - Eriksen - Gerrard
    .....Suarez - Lukaku - Aguero

    look good?

worth an extra -4 to do Gerrard > Lallana?
