Sunday’s trio of fixtures begins at the Stadium of Light, where Sunderland play host to Cardiff. Yesterday’s results have fallen in the pair’s favour – defeats to Villa and Norwich, allied with Fulham’s home draw against Hull, means that a win for either side this lunchtime would take them out of the bottom three:

The Black Cats are in buoyant mood after taking four points from their trips to City and Chelsea in the last two league outings and, with a double Gameweek 37 just around the corner, the likes of Connor Wickham, Fabio Borini, Adam Johnson and Marcos Alonso have the platform to catch Fantasy managers’ eyes, along with the impressive Vito Mannone in goal.

Cardiff have also delivered a win and a draw in their last couple of fixtures and Steven Caulker’s aerial threat in the box and David Marshall’s heroics between the sticks afford them reason for optimism.

Following this, there’s the small matter of an Anfield encounter between Liverpool and Chelsea before Palace look to extend their five-match winning run at the expense of title-chasing Man City.

You can look to our Twitter feed for all the news from the day’s teamsheets, while the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to collect your real-time reactions as the matches unfold.

Cala had a mare that whole half. I was surprised OGS didn't replace him earlier as he looked like he was a Sunderland goal waiting to happen.

Cardiff have been shocking so far.

On a different note, Villa fans are suddenly not sitting comfortably anymore.

Why are people debating whether it was a red or not? Clearly a red as stopping a goalscoring chance. The only debate is was it a penalty, foul started and seemed to finish outside the box, so no penalty but definite red. Brilliant to see if there was any advantage too. Players should be awarded for staying up and not diving.

What do you guys think of the advantage rule. Wickham was given the advantage to carry on after being fouled, then again after his bad touch took it further, then again after he rounded the keeper and then again as he scuffed it to a defender. Seems like he got at least 3 advantages. How far should it go?

everyone said you have to go down to win a penalty when jarvis stayed on his feet a couple of weeks back. wickham stayed on his feet but still got the decision. there would be less diving if this was consistent

Sometimes players maybe have to go down though to make it clearer there was a foul. If they stay on their feet, what if the ref doesn't see the infringement?

I wouldn't put money on him playing and would be extremely surprised if he played both games.

My personal opinion is the defence is likely to remain constant and he will use the same back four used yesterday.
