As the final Gameweek approaches, our Sky weekly article draws to a close. Once again, we take a look at the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and current market trends.

Gameweek 38 Man of the Match Awards

Here’s a match-by-match breakdown of the players that won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

A very even split of awards this week with three goalkeepers, defenders, forwards and four midfielders claiming MoTM. The only players listed above with over 10% ownership were Pablo Zabaleta, Luke Shaw and Olivier Giroud, with many of the others having little impact across the rankings. Going into the final week Eden Hazard, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez have the joint most MoTM awards for the season, with nine apiece.

Gameweek 38 Bonus Points

Five goalkeepers managed five saves or more. Brad Guzan was the top performer with seven saves over the two games. Vito Mannone is still top overall with 30 additional points.

In defence, 21 players gathered bonus, seven for tackles and 14 for passes completed – full-back Marcos Alonso was the stand out performer here with two clean sheets and an assist to go with his tackling bonus. Swansea’s Angel Rangel leads the way for the defenders with 28 extra bonus points.

In midfield, 22 players earned bonus points – four for tackling and 20 for passes. United’s Michael Carrick managed tackling once and passing twice over the two games to earn an additional six points. Mikel Arteta is the games top bonus earner overall with 48 extra points.

Wayne Rooney looks likely to miss out this week whilst Oscar remains a doubt for Chelsea. Sergio Aguero and Aaron Ramsey have been passed fit after recent injuries.

    Just for once I don;t care about price changes

    My transfers leave over 4 million in the bank, ain't no way I won't be able to afford them tomorrow. Who the feck cares about team value now. You can't take into it next season.

        I would argue it;s been more important as those bandwagon and kneejerk players just kept producing meaning the longer we resisted the more it cost us to rectify that mistake. I've think I've got my highest ever TV but I've also made more transfers than ever, mainly down to constant buying and selling of Lukaku plus the never-ending need to sell Silva and/or Aguero

        I can't say how it has been previous years but I can state that having a high team value has really helped me in my first season.

        I was able to afford 3 premium defenders, 3 premium midfielders and 3 premium strikers, 1 mid priced mid & a decent sub bench. I have been able to do this since the January WC

        Current team value of 115.9 (dropped 0.1 this week 🙠)

          Having a high value b4 jan allows you more leeway to wait for transfers as u are less likely to be affected by price rises.

          Also save you transfers along the way as u do not have to sell someone just to fund other players. In short just give u so much more flexibility.

    Chelsea v Cardiff:

    Cardiff City have not beaten Chelsea at home in the league since February 1963, drawing one and losing four since.

    Samuel Eto’o scored his first Premier League goal in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.

    Eto’o is yet to score away from home in any competition for the Blues, with all 12 of his goals for Chelsea coming at Stamford Bridge.

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won just three of his 17 Premier League games in charge of Cardiff City, one fewer than predecessor Malky Mackay won in his 18 games as manager (4).

    Cardiff City have failed to score in more games than any other Premier League side this season (19), while Chelsea have kept the most clean sheets (18).

    Chelsea have won 79 points in 37 games this season and regardless of the result in this match, it’ll be Jose Mourinho’s lowest points tally while in charge of a full season at the Blues.

    Made a complete mess of it last week in my dream to get into the top 100 and took a chance on silva over Yaya, that did not work out well and I dropped over 700 places ðŸ™

    My aim this year was to break the top 1k (currently 1677) am i gonna have to captain a differential (studge / Aguero) or do you think i can do it playing it safe with Suarez?
