After Brazil got their tournament off to a winning start yesterday, we now have three matches to focus on this evening. The second match in Group A, between Mexico and Cameroon, gets underway at 5pm before Spain take on Holland in a repeat of the 2010 World Cup Final at 8pm and Chile face Group B underdogs Australia at 11pm:

Mexico’s Oribe Peralta looks a decent differential for some ahead of the early kick-off and, whilst Spain versus Holland may have deterred many from loading up on their options for the opener, the likes of Alexis Sanchez will be backed to deliver in the late night showdown as Chile look to grab the goals before their schedule takes a turn for the worse.

Mexico Ochoa; Aguilar, Moreno, Rodriguez, Marquez, Layun; Herrera, Vazquez, Guardado; Dos Santos, Peralta.

Cameroon Itandje; Djeugoue, Chedjou, Nkoulou, Assou-Ekotto; Mbia, Enoh, Song; Choupo Moting, Eto’o, Moukandjo.

Mexico’s starting XI suggests a continuation of their 5-3-2 formation. Paul Aguilar and Miguel Layun will be handed the wing-back berths, whilst further up the field, former Tottenham man Giovanni Dos Santos is likely to be fielded in a slightly more withdrawn role behind Oribe Peralta.

Cameroon look to be setting up in a 4-3-3 formation. There are a handful of surprise selections – at the back, Cedric Djeugoue and Benoit Assout-Ekotto are selected at right-back and left-back respectively, whilst the highly-rated duo Joel Matip and Vincent Aboubakar are handed bench-warming duties.

Found this of interest, especially given how much people from my neck of the world catch slack for using the term "soccer." Education is the key to enlightenment. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2657548/A-game-two-names-Historians-reveal-America-calls-football-soccer-British-blame.html

I don't see what's the big deal about it really.
I mostly call it football, but being in Ireland where we also have Gaelic Football most people call it soccer and it's not a big deal. America has American Football so it makes sense to say soccer so as to avoid confusion.

Good points, Gimli. I just happened to see this article when clicking on another one, so I checked it out. Was more or less learned on the subject already, but a refresher was good. Found it interesting and insightful. Have seen enough comments around here making fun of the term. Not sure it isn't usually guys from England. Not to point the finger exactly, but it is what it is. Maybe I'll share this during the time when more of them are around.

The point is more that a game that very rarely involves foot-to-ball contact is called football.

That's because American Football evolved from the sport of Rugby Football. Hence, the term. There are reasons for virtually everything if you give effort to understanding. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_football

My point is if you didn't call American Football 'football' then you'd have, in all likelihood, called soccer 'football'.

Cillessen got 9 as well. Seems pretty average for a GK so far. Playing 90 and getting 3 saves get you 9 points. I have switched to Karnezis from Cillessen because it seems Greek GK will score atleast 9 points.

                  Substitutions:

Once the round commences, you have a choice: You can either take a 'hands off' approach and wait for automatic substitutions to happen at the end of the round, or you can get more involved and make some substitutions as the round progresses.

At the start of each day (00:00 South African time) during the round, a substitution window opens. In this window you can:

Replace any player that wasn't sent off with one from your bench who is yet to play.
Change your captain, providing he wasn’t sent off, with someone whose team is yet to play.
On a matchday, the substitution window will close 15 minutes before the first kick-off.

This obviously enables a somewhat meaningful update at midnight SA time, as it includes everyone's players up until that day.

Daily subs = daily updates to be meaningful
Matchly subs = matchly updates to be meaningful

Are we getting anywhere towards working out what's a good sticking score for each of the positions. Looks to me anything in double figures seems about the mark; maybe a little higher for GKs?

Also need to consider the timing in the round of the subs. The cutoff score towards the end of the round should be lower as there are lesser players to come on.

What have the other keepers scored so far? Unfortunately, we can all only see our own scores, so hard to work out what's 'good'

I think 10pts is a good cut off for defenders and strikers.

I reckon it's a little lower, about 8pts, for me to stick with a midfielder.

      and 12pts for GKs...

Most have an average score of 12pts per player with good players still left, so 130pts is possible I guess.

Yeah of course possible, but as we get closer to end of rounds, we have less options to come so scores may trend down from 12 points so I reckon an average of 10 a player won't be far off a good weekly score.
