Sky Sports Fantasy Football 2014/15 Is Now Live

As some of you may already know, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game for 2014/15 opened its doors earlier today. With a lull in the World Cup action, Fantasy managers are afforded our first chance to dabble in domestic issues as we tentatively cobble together our initial teams for the season ahead:

The Sky Sports game is one that we’ve covered in the past, with our Members area including the relevant bonus point recipients across the positions.

After winning the Best League for each of the last couple of campaigns, we’re looking forward to defending our title once again. The winner of last season’s Scout League picked up £1,000 for their achievements and we’re hoping to offer prizes for whoever finishes at the summit once again.

We’ll be re-starting our official league soon and will be rolling out a series of articles over the next couple of weeks, looking at the Player List and analysing the best tactical approaches. Regular contributor d1sable will be on board once again to give his hints and tips every Friday afternoon – having finished inside the top 10 last year, he’s clearly a man worth listening to.

      cuadrado for attacking potential..supposed james will be defended against so hopefully cuadrado will get a chance or 2 against brazil...

      personally i think the arg-bel match may drag on to extra time..which is not good for cs potential.. belgium is capable of scoring a goal though i think it will be low scoring.

    It's pretty apparent to me that every has the same players, and that everyone wants everyone else to have the same players as them...

    I, however, would like to have some differentials to give me a chance of catching some of those above me...

    So with that in mind...

      T.Silva....has an outrageous 41 points so far....if you take away their one clean sheet and his assist, that's 34 points in 4 games...8.5 a game!

    Sky sports seems tricky to get a reasonable team together. Even average players are very expensive. This is what I came up with:

    Speroni
    Cahill - Marriappa - Konchesky
    SWP - Bacuna - Ramsey - Yaya
    Costa - RVP - Jelavic

    No idea if SWP is likely to get a game much for QPR but he is very cheap. Suspect we will see more of Bacuna this season and could be a bargain.

      Maybe not enough. I know you plan to play 5-3-2 or 5-4-1. Unless you get the right players who perform, you won't have problem. But if they fail...

          He probably won't. But I believe he will get at least 25 minutes, regardless if the team is leading or chasing. It's a very risky punt (plus the fact that they play last and you cannot sub him out if he fails), and only for the brave ones.

      Most people around here are leaning to be a little more defensive with more players but if you think the all star way is the best then it's solid.

      Hedging your bets on a Netherlands comfortable win it seems which could be true but costa rica keep surprising, could shoot you up though. If you want to be more defensive, losing rvp could give you an extra def and mid...

          It's a tough one but i think this is where the fun is. Treat it like a bet, if you think France will struggle to score and Netherlands will blow them away then there is your answer and vice versa.

          The other thing to think about is that the dutch play last so no twists....

    I have decided to follow the heavy defence route as per advice on here. This look like a solid team?

    Any advice very welcome as i have swapped this around a little too much. Think this is the best ive had so far though.

      When you still have a cheapy in your back line, it is not tat defence heavy yet 😉 It's becasue I've seen teams with 7 defenders, and if you're talking heavy, then at least a Brazilian should be there, a Hummel and probably a French defender too. Nontheless i like your 7 players at the back. Your team is more mid heavy imo, with 6 plaers and Valb as the cheapest one.

      You're right, probably the best you can get. Not totally convinced with Lahm, and a backup 3rd striker would be great, but it's your call really.

        Yeah, thanks. The only thing i can think of is sacrificing Lahm for Shurle (if he starts).

        Will keep an eye on it, it's tempting as its more fun rooting for goals rather than blocked shots and the like. I do like this new format though, its great having so many more options due to defensive mids/defenders scoring higher.
