With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

A definite bargain. But also an injury prone bargain. His compatriot Mr. Caulker, if you can stretch another 5.0m, is being tipped for big things. Goals, Clean Sheets & Baps, specifically.

My top heavy team as things stand.

      Bego - Gilks
      Coloccini - van Aanholt - Wisdom - Naylor - Yoshida/Chester/Cameron
      Mata - Fabregas - Ramsey - Eriksen - Wanyama
      Rooney - Giroud - Costa

I've tried to go for a fixture proof front line, opinions?

Also, can't decide between that last defender spot, would like Yoshida but I think they'll sign someone, Chester a decent enough option?

If you had to have 1 keeper would it be Bego or DDG? Could bring in DDG and change that last defender to a 4.0

      Any input much appreciated!

Would appreciate a little bit of anyone's time to give their opinions on this.

    Mannone / Krul

    Chester / Cameron / O'shea / Coloccini / Yoshida

    Ramsey / Yaya / Mata / Hazard / Sigurdsson

    Rooney / £8.5m / Zamora

I've gone with rotating keepers as I think they offer the best value, so I'll be sticking with them.

All my defenders are 4.5m, so should I save 0.5m on 1 of them to upgrade another to a more nailed / bigger scoring 5.0m defender, or stick with the luxury of having to pick 3 of 5 decent defenders?

I'm pretty much decided on my midfield, I've got cover for all the teams that I think will finish top 4 so I'm happy with that.

Last conundrum is the 8.5m or less forward. Should I go with Giroud / Bony / Dzeko or look at a cheaper option so my funds can be spent elsewhere?

Would appreciate any feedback, as I try to go out my way to help others as much as I can.

    Thanks

I'd be very surprised if Koeman doesn't replace Lovren, so that discounts Yos. Folk on here are querying Cameron's nailedoness too.

I'd be tempted with Dzeko / Jovetic / Maybe even Nasri as your City cover and remove Yaya and use the cash elsewhere.

I would think the same, but at the same time Yoshida was at the WC and didn't do too badly so might not be priority for RK. Cameron is a question mark also.

Yaya isn't going anywhere haha I think a lot of people will be putting him in their teams after GW 1 - 3

I'd say Giroud if you haven't got Sanchez but the Frenchman isn't fit so would say Dzeko for City cover, but would be inclined to suggest Jovetic instead and upgrade Zamora. If Bony goes to LFC could be a different choice, you have no Liverpool cover.

I'm not sure on Giroud for fitness and minutes reasons, and not sure on Bony as he may be unsettled, so I would probably go Dzeko if an 8.5m forward. Also keeping tabs on Jovetic but not gonna start off with him. I'm avoiding Liverpool for start of the season I think they will take time to gel. Good team would you say? I haven't seen many people go with a 3-5-2

I usually play 3 5 2 and invest in midfield. My thought is they get more points for goals, likely to get the assists and also get Clean sheet points (and baps for passing and tackles).

Defence is always gamble (unless Baines ot Chelsea) as lower table clubs het clean sheets to, so cheap rotation does work, but you usually need a big hotter to keep this balanced.

Good team yes, my sort of problem

I've taken note of the fact that there are very little clean sheets at start of season in comparison to end of season, so started off cheap. This is easily the most balanced team I've seen in a while.

My keepers give me a rotation of:

        wba - avl - CPL/qpr - sot - HUL/burn - SWA

Would you do Foster and Krul instead? That would give

A)) Arny (with Weimann as 3rd striker with Rooney and Costa) & 2m in the bank and no Man City cover

B)) Nasri (Sanogo as 3rd striker with Rooney and Costa) & 0 in the bank

(Haz Siggy Mata Henderson round out rest of midfield)

I know Sanogo is a knee-jerk reaction coming off his latest performance...but he seems the best option as far as 5.0m forwards go. I tend to favor A but do think Man City cover is important...any thoughts? Thanks.

You probably don't need anyone to rotate with Begovic tbh. Save yourself 0.5 and have him as a lone keeper. Jagielka comes up against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and United in the first 7, perhaps there are better ways to invest at the back early on. Giroud had a shocking start to his pre-season the other day, perhaps signalling that he isn't the right choice out of the 8.5 forwards. I would go for Dzeko, Bony, Adebayor and even Jovetic ahead of him for the start of the season.

Any new player could flop in fairness. Think he could prove decent value myself.

I think you should keep Bojan for first week in order to cash his form against poor AV.

    Begovic (Murphy)
    Vertonghen Caulker Cameron (Naylor Moore)
    Ramsey Fabregas Sterling Siggy (Albrighton)
    Sturridge Rooney Jovetic

Most likely trade down Sturridge after GW1 and then have cash to invest during international break so I can get the players that start well. Not afraid to take some hits during that period to increase team value.

Doesn't owning Jovetic worry you slightly? Even if he starts I can't see him last longer than an hour, an obvious substitute for City

No, I don't plan to own him for very long, and I believe with Aguero's late start to pre-season and recurring injuries, he won't see too much time until GW3. People may think that he's trolling with good pre-season form, but the fact is that he managed 3 goals and 2 assists in 368 minutes of football last season, so he can score regularly at EPL level, his incredible form is just a bonus.

    Any input much appreciated!

depends where Fab plays tbh. but sterling will get points regardless who he plays against

Like I said to Underdog earlier, I wouldn't go for Giroud. He had a terrible start to his pre-season and looks a long way off the mark.

I know that Sigurdsson is as template a player as there is, which can be a massive no for some people, but there's a reason why. If you went for him instead of one of your midfield 4 you would be able to do wonders for your defence, which unfortunately looks very lacking as it stands.

Just a couple of thoughts anyway. Terrific contribution to this thread, your opinion is very much appreciated.

Cheers! Hoping to be on the forums a lot more this season.

I love Siggy, he will be in my team very soon, maybe even GW2, but I don't fancy his chances away vs United.

Fair enough, but I don't think United are as solid as many on here try to make you believe. I wouldn't be surprised if Siggy got some attacking returns against United. Also, having him out of your GW1 side means that any other alterations you would make on your defence with the extra cash you get from having him, would cost you transfers that would deduct points from your team. Wouldn't it be smart to have him at the start of the season and just take whatever he delivers in the first gameweek and settle on a better defence that doesn't need constant tinkering?

      Hard to argue with that.

If I had to pick a fault I'd be uneasy with Moore/Wisdom as my 4th/5th defenders.

Get Elliot as backup for Krul seeing as it will save you a transfer if Krul gets injured.

Looks very good, however Wisdom's playing time is perhaps a concern. Maybe downgrade Cahill and upgrade Wisdom?

      Lovely looking front 8 though.

Evening all, an RMT would be appreciated...

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Mannone (Krul)

    Cameron (Taylor) Trippier Davies (Mariappa)

    (Sigurdsson) Sidwell Sánchez Mata Ramsey

    Dzeko Rooney Bony
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thinking being:

    Mannone and Krul rotate well.

Cameron rotates with Taylor. Trippier rotates with Davies.

    Siggy rotates with Sidwell.

Sanchez and Ramsey looked good against Benfica and Monaco.

No Chelski as they looked dreadful against Bremen. Hazard looked totally out of condition. Think they are likely to take a few games to get up to speed.

Dzeko should be nailed on for the first few matches.

    Waddya think?

Dzeko should be ok but monitor Jovetic, and going without any Chelsea coverage, especially for the first few weeks, could really hurt you!
