With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

Don't like the keeper combo, nor the double 4.0 in the back. Apart from that it looks quite good, though I'd wait and see with Costa I think

I prefer Krul Foster as a pairing

I don't think Upson's going to start. I have no idea about Bruce

I've gone Austin as opposed to Long as a 6.0 striker.

This is all nitpicking though it's a good team

Long for Bojan maybe? Bit of a punt but Stokes fixtures are good, and he has been in form in pre season.

All right, with this thread I will try my first of the season:

    Green (Speroni)

    Evans - Verthongen - Pieters (N.Taylor, Baird)

Hazard - Sanchez - Eriksen - Sigurdsson (Marney)

    Rooney - Dzeko - Remy

    Whaddya think?

United defenders are just as shite as last year, and now have no Vidic or Rio. Left with shite evans. Shite. Jones. Shite Smalling.

Stoke don't have best away fix and pieters isn't fixture proof so your basically starting with two 'top' defenders.

Doesn't Rose potentially move Vert to cb permanently? Seems a lot for someone you are relying on for attacking pts only, as lets be honest...spurs are shite.

This seems a bit like ManU hate too, though. Evans is definitely not a shite defender. Think he will have a decent season, and LVG has a pretty good defensive orientation. Plus fixtures and a certain goal threat. Not sure of course, but think it might be worth it.

not from me, i really don't care about United or otherwise, Evans is reasonable but the other two are liabilities, as for Van Gaal, people on here seem to think he is some kind of god. His dutch team took penalties to get past Costa Rica in the WC. it will be interesting to see just how good his management skills are when he is up against City, Chelsea and Arsenal etc.

They will struggle against those teams for sure. Not expecting a top 3 finish. But none of those teams feature for many gameweeks to come, and there are quite good clean sheet chances.

Defence isn't that bad - Evans is a play every week job, Swans and Stoke rotate like a dream, questions over Vert but it's a decent flair pick and Baird is, well, Baird.

Why Baird and N.Taylor? Collocini, PvA and Chester are all better options than Taylor, and is Baird even a certain starter at 4.0? Duff is.

Better keepers than Green at 4.5 as well.

I like the differentials, I think Evans will get the starts + the clean sheet points. Pieters will be nailed on for Stoke.

      Defence is not good.

Colo -> Newcastle have had a poor pre season, clean sheets will be hard to come by
Azpi -> Ivan and Luis competing with him for the two full back spots
Mert -> Will be eased back in after the WC. Won't start the first couple of weeks
Duff -> Burnley looking for a new CB

It does look quite good, but I would defo do something about Zamora. The keeper combo is quite expensive, and the defense excessively so as well. You will be benching 9.5 there most weeks, which is too much. Plus double Stoke defense is not rocking my boat. Huth-> 4.5 or 4.0, Hendo-> to 5.0 or 4.5, and Zamora to someone relevant

There's having a good defence and then there's just frittering money away on it. If I were you I'd find a keeper pairing that's max 9.5, 9.0 even better (eg Foster and Krul).

Then I'd get rid of Debuchy (bad fixtures) for a 4.0. You'll play Cahill and Evans almost every week and then Huth and Naylor rotate perfectly for the third slot.

Then that money can be put to much better use up front upgrading Henderson or the corpse of Bobby Zamora

Would be grateful for your thoughts on the below:

    Foster (Krul)
    Luis - B Davies - Evans (van Aan-Wisdom)
Mata - Erik - Fab - Siggy (Albrighton)
    Rooney - Costa - Dzeko

    A few comments:
    - I’ve shunned Arsenal and Liverpool for now cos of fixtures.
    - I think Fab and Hazard will score similar points, so went for Fab who’s cheaper.
    - 3 high-end strikers (instead of 2 high-end and 1 budget) I think is the way to go (for now).

Not the biggest fan of Azpi, as he has zero attacking potential and might not be totally nailed on. Would probably downgrade Davies to a 4.5 and upgrade Henderson. Giroud is also a question mark for the first fixtures. Think I'd rather go Dzeko

This seems like you haven't spent 100 million, which is probably not a good thing. Jovetic seems to short sighted for the price, Mirallas has too weak fixtures for me, and that double cheapo midfield is screaming for an upgrade

Mirallas and Lukaku are both inconsistent, but I'm going with Luk for now. I think you need to drop one of roon/dc to improve your mids, who is Ameobi? Try to upgrade him to a 6.0 mid. Overall not horrible, the 433 could work out.

Looking for help like everyone. Been loving this site since last season and decided to sign up, legit member now. Here is my current team:

    Speroni
    Lovren - Luis - Debuchy
    Hazard - Eriksen - Mata - Henderson
    Lukaku - Rooney - Dzeko

Subs: Elliot - Mariappa - Albrighton - Wisdom

Not super happy with Speroni, I could get Howard /DDG and switch Lovren for Bavies/Caulker.

I feel like the forwards are tough right now, outside of Rooney and Costa not sold on anyone. I had Lukaku for a while last year, and he is frustratingly inconsistent, hope he will improve this season. Appreciate all thoughts!

I'd switch Lovren for someone like Huth then upgrade to DDG. Liverpool's defence was atrocious (relatively) last year anyway.

My preference would be for Siggy over Henderson

Otherwise it looks good but it'll take a lot for me to let Lukaku back in my team after what he did do me last year... repeatedly

GK: Krul/Foster – would go Krul/Mannone however I believe this offers a better home/away rotation
DF: O Shea/Ferdinand/B Davies/Taylor/Coloccini – I’m unsure on Ben Davies – my other option is Curtis Davies, I am fairly happy with this as I believe these are dead cert starters, plus can offer the good chance for rotation.
MF: Young (Am I mad!?), Sanchez, Mata, Hazard, Sigurdsson – Fairly happy with the core of my midfield – still considering De Jong and Snodgrass to replace Young
ST – Austin, Rooney, Costa (Bojan was the other option to downgrade Austin and to upgrade Young to Snodgrass)

I also need help for Sun Dream team league please gents – rules are slightly different as it for all games and not just FA Cup and my planning was to include defenders from teams that are competing in Europe this season.
    GK – McGregor
    DF - Davies, B, Debuchy, M, Coleman, S, Davies, C
MF – Mata, Ramsey, Siggy - (Debating Silva vs Mata, as Silva will participate in European games whilst Mata won’t although I think Mata will be the better choice as he is in form) (Debating Siggy for Érik Lamela
    ST – Rooney/Costa/Sturridge

After some tinkering yesterday, I woke up to this and I'm still feeling pretty good about it.

    Begovic (Fabianski)
Debuchy, Terry, Rose (Van Anholt, Wisdom)
    Fabregas, Sanchez, Henderson, Eriksen, Sigurdsson
    Rooney, Lukaku (Bojan)

Getting that sweet Sansea/Stoke rotation via keepers. Bojan could be a major riser, so I'm happy to have him in this mock up.
    __________________

That said, I was running below previously. It felt a bit more solid.

    DDG (Krul)
Debuchy, Rose, Azpilicueta (Huth, Ashley Williams)
    Fabregas, Ramsey, Eriksen, Henderson (Wanyama)
    Rooney, Remy, Lukaku

Huth & Ashley Williams for the nigh perfect Stoke/Swansea fixture rotation. Wanyama because of his price, as a bit of a punt and because I fancy him to do a bit better given the departures at Saints. Krul is in there in case he does well enough and gets a bit of a rise.
    __________________

Then there's this old faithful model which I started out with that gives me Sanchez, Fabregas and Yaya in a 451. I still get the aforementioned Swansea/Stoke rotation via defenders (Williams and Huth) and I still have Bojan, who, as stated above, I think could blow up big time and Jutkiewicz, who is a stater.

    DDG (Krul)
    Debuchy, Rose, Azpilicueta (Williams, Huth)
Fabregas, Henderson, Yaya Toure, Sigurdsson, Sanchez
    Rooney (Bojan, Jutkiewicz)

As you can tell, I am in three minds here and I keeper wavering between the two... The latter two formations offer a nice defensive spread and the chance to capitalise on United's amazing first two months while the one I am running now, the first one, offers a wee bit more up front and it gives me Lukaku, who I think is a must have in this league, at least once he gets going.

What are your thoughts on the three teams above? Which would you go with? What would you change?

All thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

    Kudos!

I think option 2 is the best starting point. 4-5-1 has never been a viable fantasy formation I have no reason to think it would start being now.
hat said I still think too much is being spent on defence there. You've got DDG play him every week and get a 4.0 to go with. Then turn Rose into a 4.0. You can't have 5 defenders all 5 and above and he's far from a guaranteed starter. Then you can use that money up front eg for Ramsey to Sanchez, Eriksen to Mata or whatever you want.

As an aside I completely don't understand the Bojan thing. he could barely score last year in the Dutch league. I can't understand the Bojan thing on any level - logically, rationally, conceptually spiritually, grammatically - on no level. Nothing, nada, nichts, nyet. But he's in so many teams. What are people seeing I'm not?

I hear you on 4-5-1. I just am hoping to see Krul rise a wee bit. Rose is a bit of an anomoly, but Spurs have relatively easy early fixtures but then I do have cover with Eriksen.

Bojan is in form and cheap. That's about it, really.

I see you have a bad case of QPR disease. Far too much optimism there I think.

Valencia shouldn't be there at all, currently injured and will be rotated with Young and Rafael

Sturridge IMO is too expensive, Sterling is 3m cheaper for example and I'd expect him to do just as well.

RMT take 2 after some solid advice about fixing my defense.

    Still 3-5-2

Krul/Green. Seems about the most nailed on 4.5 combo. Some clarity on Sunderlands goal keeper situation will change this pair.

Van Aanholt/Caaulker/Ward/Cameron/Vlaar. All of them are at least nailed on. Vlaar transfer rumors have me a bit cautious about swapping any of my other defenders.

Mata/Fabergas/Lamela/Ramsey/Henderson. Lamela is a bit of a punt but he's in good form and playing in his natural position now. I like him more than Eriksen who is going to be relying on set pieces. I also think Henderson is just flat out better than Siggy.

Costa/Rooney/Bojan. Not much else to say. If costa is a flop he's pricey enough that a move won't blow up my team. Rooney is on fire right now. And Bojan...is well. I hope I don't have to play him much as I don't think much of sunderland.

Huth is a great shout btw

Didnt even realise he was the same price as Pieters thought he was 5.5 like Shawcross

You can't be playing Bent or Albrighton every week definitely downgrade either Yaya or Sanchez to upgrade them.

Yeah its not gonna work with YYT in

Im gonna get Siggy back in and upgrade Bent - Jelavic and improve the defence

Thanks for the advice all the same guys

right idea though, if you really want city coverage maybe pop nasri or silva in as a good differential to most teams 🙂

    RMT Please 🙂

    Foster/Mannone (Rotation looks nice)
Luis, Jones, Huth (Taylor rotation with Huth, Duff)
    Mata, Hazard, Ramsey, Hendo (Shelvey)
Rooney, Costa, Bojan (Rotation with shelvey)

    Jones or Evans?

Krul instead of Mannone. Would prefer Evans over Jones and Moore as your 4 defender. Rest looks good.

i did have siggy rotating with bojan, but i felt i needed a man united defender in my team! I reckon shelvey could have a great season, but yh i do want siggy 🙁

You're right, only way to do it is do a 9m out for Sterling, or downgrade Hazard which is too big a sacrifice.

but which 9mil, ramsey gives me arsenal coverage and mata is a must with the opening fixtures 🙁 i think i'll stick with shelvey for a differential 🙂 but thanks

I do like the looks of this. Solid all around. I'm not familiar with Bojan, but might do it to get Costa and Rooney.
