With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

Same as last reply...best to post your full squad if this is an FPL selection. Hard to assess otherwise.

Hello all, would appreciate a RMT... but knowing the rate I'm changing my team, it'll probably be different by the time I get a response 😉

    De Gea (Gilks)
    Debuchy, Huth, Davies (Ward, Janmaat)
    Fabregas, Lamela. Mata, Tadic (Sigurdsson)
    Lukaku Rooney Austin

    - De Gea, Mata and Rooney probably won't change for the first ten or so games.
    - Defense rotates quite well, a bit worried about week 3, but that's what transfers are there for
    - Taking a punt on Austin for the first few home games which are kind enough to QPR.

    Ta!

Not convinced Janmaat is worth the 0.5 over Coloccini at this stage, even if you don't spend the extra it could be useful to have in the bank.

What do you guys think of this? Really stuck on my third big hitter in defence as I have 1 mil in the bank.

    De Gea - Gilks
    Debuchy - Terry - Clyne - Cameron - Bruce
    Eriksen - Ramsey - Henderson - Fabregas - Albrighton
    Jovetic - Lukaku - Rooney

That looks stacked enough in defence as it is to me, only one I'd upgrade is Bruce who is unlikely to start. I'd either switch to Wisdom/Duff/Moore or invest another 0.5 into a guaranteed starter.

    a) Sturridge Giroud CDavies Ward PVA

    or

    b) Terry Cahill Filipe Azpilicueta Young

This is for TFF. The latter gives me:

    Fabianski
    Terry Cahill Filipe Azpilicueta

Entire Chelsea back line? That's bold. A bit too risky for my blood as there's no way Ivanovic doesn't get game time, in a game without subs I think you need to limit the risk of rotation.

Hey guys. Am new to this site, but am impressed by the depth of information/knowledge on show. Could you RMT please?

    DDG/Foster
    Baines/Vertonghen/Clyne/Cameron/RTaylor
    Hazard/Ramsey/Eriksen/Siggy/Albrighton
    Rooney/Lukaku/Wickham

I think I've spent too much on defence and am also nervous about Wickham.

    Any views?

I like it although if I were going for DDG in goal I'd get a 4.0m GK to pair with him and just play DDG every week. Also, R Taylor is not a starter - Coloccini is probably the best 4.5m Newcastle defender.

It's nice otherwise - Wickham is an interesting one, is he likely to start?

Thanks Greenwindmill. Actually I meant Swansea's NTaylor - was clearly getting confused by NUFC's full-back!

I know what you mean by downgrading Foster, but the £4.0M goalies are all so rubbish. It breaks my heart to swap him.

Whether Wickham starts or not is one of my main concerns, but I don't know too much about any of the other forwards at that price range.

    Cameron - Evans* - Trippier - Ward - NTaylor
Hazard - Tadic - De Jong - Eriksen - Sigurdsson
    Rooney - Lukaku - Soldado
    0.5 in the bank

    * Evans or whoever seens most nailed on in MU def

Tadic, De Jong and Soldado feels like the gambles here. Downgrade Soldado to upgrade one or two mid is a possibility. Thoughts?

GKs? Soldado is definitely a gamble, and going for Trippier is almost too, his returns will be exciting to see. Id go 1 up and 1 down with Tadic/De Jong, getting 1 more big hit and 1 budget option that can rotate with Sigurd

I rather like it. Double Swans is brave but no reason it can't work out.

I take it your plan is to rotate Siggy and Bojan? That's my biggest gripe with it; you'll torture yourself with big hauls on the bench.

(By the way, you might get more replies if you take the time to write your team out. A lot of people are too lazy to open a link 😉 )

Ah so Jonty said - lesson learned for next time!

Well, I'd actually rather just play Siggy, mainly because I prefer him and think he has more potential to grab those big hauls than Bojan does.

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised by Bony really - had a really good debut season, should only improve, scored about 17 goals, at a reasonably cheap 8.5m - yet only about 9% ownership!

In that case, I think 5.5 is too much for a bench-warmer.

You could try the old money in the bank approach - drop Bojan to a 4.5 non-player like Zamora and keep 1m in the bank for the inevitable transfers. Makes it less likely that you'll need to take a hit for an "essential" GW2 knee-jerk 🙂

I think a lot of people are waiting to see what happens with Bony. If he moves to Liverpool or Spurs, we'll see an influx of ownership. Great player.

            Good call!

I've not heard much about Bony leaving so I would be surprised if he left, but you never know. I think you're right, it would be good to have £1m as backup, or at least £0.5m. Then the inevitable 'knee jerk' move won't be so painful.

I'm still getting used to the look of this approach, as I've never started with a 'budget' 3rd striker, but there are so many fantastic midfield options this year that I just can't leave any out!

Thanks though Roscola, really appreciate your insight into this - much appreciated 🙂

If you want Man Utd & Chelsea defensive cover I'd consider Courtois/Evans instead of DDG/Cahill. It's £0.5m but with doubts over the Chelsea defensive line up offers a little more security and Evans has a decent goal threat.

Also, chances are you want Chelsea defence for the long haul whereas you may decide to move away from Man Utd's back line - easier to shift a defender than a goalkeeper in my experience.

S Taylor is not a likely starter - the extra 0.5 could be used to upgrade to Coloccini.

I prefer Dzeko to Giroud, but both are very strong options at that price.

Can't fault that. The Huth and Beg combo could really pay off as well. Young is your risk...but easily downgraded to a 4.5 of 5m midfielder so a risk worth taking.

Lamela will play but Eriksen is better IMO. Jovetic is a question mark. Won't play when Aguero returns. Diego Costa should have a solid season but better value elsewhere and Hazard best Chelsea attack. Sterling to have a big season IMO. Should play (almost) up front. A lot more central this time. Just watch the early fixtures

Looks fairly super to me. I wish I had the nerve for Jovetic but this could totally be his season. Maybe Jovetic AND Bojan is too much punting in lucrative striker spots though.

Thanks. I may chicken out before it starts and sell Jovetic, but fairly confident now. Im having trouble with Bojan too, there are some alternatives for a 5,5 striker, but hes sort of convinced me (and gw1 vs Villa is a good chance for flying start). Having 2 Stoke players is not something i like either, so Pieters -> Ward or Bojan -> other 5.5 could happen

Could be a good rotation. Be nice if Bojan became a 10-15 goal guy at that price.

Tadic is a punt but if you like him its best to go for it.

I'd love to have Baines or Coleman in my defence but just can't stretch to 7.0 defender. I'm kinda hoping the early season sees Everton concede a few and some prices come down a little. 6.5 and I'd be all over one of

Not sure about the nailed-on-ness of Mannone, Dummett and Targett. There may even be doubts over Davies (if it's Ben in your team).

There may be doubts over some of these too, but I think the following are safer 4.5 defenders:

Mariappa, Taylor (Swansea), Rio, O'Shea, Cameron, Simpson, Collocini, Chester, Vlaar

I'm sorry but Debuchy is the only nailed on defender you have, Wisdom will probably be first choice which is ok, but as for the other 3, they shouldn't be there.

Dummett -> not at all nailed on, you want players that will start every game
Davies -> recent comments from the manager suggest he will be competition for Rose at LB
Targett -> Bertrand will start at LB ahead of him

Without getting rid of Baines where would you shave money off the team?
Sterling to Henderson feels like a compromise too far.
Dzeko > Remy might pay off, but high Costa ownership could scupper early season if he performs and I don't have him.
Fab is already cheaper than Hazard.

Hey guys can you please rate my team and give me as much feedback as possible and ill talk you through the reasons see what you think.

    Begovic
    Shaw caulker chambers
    Sanchez fab sigg noble
    Costa rooney lukaku

    Krul shawcross wisdom albrighton

My thinking van Gaal Stoke and Harry redknapp love clean sheets and tighten up defence in the past. Fab sigg dead ball duties. Noble cheap and safe shout with pens and fk a bonus.

And you know what your getting from the strike force.

For gw1 I'm taking 1 punt with chambers wenger already stated Mert won't be back fitness after the world cup and last 2 pre season games chambers had partnered kocielny. Community Shield will also give more insight.

As a back up I still have shawcross with a great fixture to come in if he or anyone else for any suprise reason don't play. What do you think guys please comment

A few gambles in there - Lovren, Bojan, Davies. Not to my tastes (unless Davies becomes nailed) but I understand the attraction.

I'd avoid Dummett and Gutierrez though. Dummett has a chance of playing but Gutierrez has none. Maybe look at Duff/Moore in defence and Albrighton/Wanyama in midfield?
