With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

A little different but I like it - Kane could be a great early punt. It could be a problem if Luis/B Davies/Kightly/Kane aren't nailed though - too risky for my blood but I'm as dull as Jonty's dishwater 😉

I'd sooner have Evans than Jones personally but it is a personal choice. I think his goal threat is at least as high and he already appears to be a LVG favourite.

I'm also not a fan of planning your GW2 transfers in advance - it invites hits and/or lack of ability to react to other issues.

If that's Ben Davies are you confident he's nailed on?

Mids and forwards look good though.

It's a good team, I would go for Henderson and Costa.

Azpil is not nailed on, try Cahill if you would like Chelsea defence. To get the 0.5 maybe downgrade Austin to Bojan, who rotates well with Siggy.

Wow, you've really gone all out on your first XI haven't you?!

If I'm honest, with no likely outfield subs that's a wildcard waiting to happen. I think you have to find a little budget to upgrade your subs to starting players, even if they're poor ones. Ironically I'd start by downgrading Krul to a 4.0 and play DDG every week. After that it's up to your priorities - maybe Sanchez -> Ramsey?

Team looks solid, one thing I'm worried about is Lukaku having such a tough run of fixtures early doors and whether you could maybe downgrade him to a 7.5 like Pelle and move Albrighton up to Henderson or find another .5 to get Arnie?

I know very little about Pelle, he's on my watchlist but can't justify backing him from the start.

That third striker spot is a dilemma though. As much as I like Bony I think Siggy offers better value in that side. Wouldn't feel comfortable backing Arnie with so much competition for places at Stoke.

That's a fair way to look at it, I've also found the 3rd striker spot a difficult one, I've ended up going for a 6m option (currently sitting on Austin) and spending more on my midfield. Pelle is an interesting one, he has decent fixtures, team is being built around him from what I can see and has a good goal scoring record. Having said that he is definitely an unknown entity and you don't want too many risks in your initial line up, who else have you got your eye on for that 3rd striker spot?

I think I've posted my current XI before, but I thought I'd stick it up again here with my short-term plan.

    Mannone (Krul)

    Gibbs/Pocognoli/Shaw (Trippier) (Ward)

    Gerrard(V)/Sanchez/Hazard(C)/Siggy (Puncheon)

    Nugent/Pelle/Rooney

My thinking being Baines will come into the defence after his tough opening run (week 8ish). If Mannone isn't the first choice keeper it's a straight swap for his replacement and if Sanchez gets off to a slow start he'll probably be straight-swapped for Ramsey. I haven't seen too many Gerrards in teams, but he takes pretty much every set piece and makes a lot of goals. All my defenders are wing-backs who should rotate reasonably with the rest of my side.

Reading all of these RMT's makes me want players that I had already decided that I will be better going without! Nightmare. Thoughts on the following desicions...

    A) Hazard or Costa? Fabregas worth the money and MF spot if I go Costa?
    B) Henderson or Sterling?
    C) Chelsea Defender to go for? If any until we know the back 4?
    D) City player needed? Nasri or Silva, maybe Dzeko?
    E) Budget Striker? Bojan (or is Arnautovic a better option?)

Seconded.... don't like Jagielka as a pick early on either, Everton fixtures are tough. Wisdom potentially iffy as a starter too. Would be good to get Cahill or Terry in and upgrade Wisdom, to Ward if you can afford? Plus with DDG in there you can probably afford to go for a non-playing 4.0 keeper for a while to free up an extra .5.
