With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

Hi folks. I'd appreciate any advice you could give on my team:

    Begovic (Myhill)
    Terry O'Shea Wisdom (Vlaar, Mariappa)
    Mata Hazard(V) Henderson Sterling (Sigurdsson)
    Rooney(C) Lukaku Jovetic

    Nothing left ITB!

    - I was tempted by Mannone & Guzan in goal, because I'm not sure if Myhill is nailed on? But I think Begovic is a better pick nearly every time anyway?
    - Defense is likely to be Terry and two from the other four, depending on fixtures.
    - Is it a bad idea to have two LIV midfielders? I'm thinking that I could switch to a 4-3-3 if they have a bad fixture (e.g. GW2 at Man City).
    - Have I made the right choices for captain & vice-captain?

    Cheers all.

    Feeling closer to my team, just have a couple of things to work out, thinking one of the two;

    A) Cameron, 5.0 defender (Ward or Clyne) & Jovetic

    B) 5.0 defender (Ward or Clyne), a 4.0 defender & Dzeko

Not a fan of the matic pick in midfield at all; he's a great player, but terrible for FPL, despite his price. Perhaps the .5 could be used to upgrade to a 6m (e.g snoddy, siggy, punch, Henderson). Wilson (of stoke I presume) doesn't look like he'll play a great deal, so I would steer clear there. Great front 3 obviously and the 3 other midfielders look solid picks, but a few holes.

Pretty good. I will say that I don't think DDG will get as many points as Howard, Szczesny or Lloris over the course of the season. Could you do Huth > Cameron and use the .5m to improve Duff? I quite like the MF, but could you settle on a cheap 5th MF? Downgrading Arnie to Young would allow you to move Pelle into the 8.5m bracket with the likes of Giroud, Bony etc.

    1) Fabregas or Hazard?

    2) Jovetic or Dzeko?

There seems to be no easy answer. The cash saved with F + J is very tempting

I would say Fab for now as Haz Haz Had no pre season and fabregas has looked sharp

I personally think dzeko, as these pre seasons are often a false dawn and i reckon dzeko will start the season up top with aguero struggling for fitness

Not sure on Dzeko or Jovetic myself, thinking to go for Dzeko and maybe change it early on see how things go, makes more sense to be able to downgrade price wise if Jovetic does better than to have to keep .5 and worry if Dzeko starts better

Last season Mancini picked Dzeko only when Negredo was injured. Jovetic has now scored 4 times, i think and Dzeko hasn't started any pre-season. IMO Jovetic will start over Dzeko.

Fabregas and Hazard is a tough one. Fabregas can play 'in the hole' but Mourinho has also said that he can see him playing more defensively cause of his passing skills and quick thinking. Hazard was great for some time, then terrible for some time. Can't decide either...

      Here's my team:

      Begovic - (Gilks)
      Baines - Jones - Davies - (Chambers - Bruce)
      Ramsey - Sterling - Mata - Arnautovic - Lamela
      Rooney - Jovetic - (Nugent)

My problem: I have no Chelsea players, so what to do...? Fabregas for Mata, or Rooney for
      Costa?

The defence is solid. Three starting defenders with defensively strong teams. Midfield is diverse. Forwards will score, especially with easy opening fixtures for Man United.

    Krul - Foster

Bruce - Steven Taylor - Upson - Duff - Wisdom

Hazard - Eriksen - Tadic - Yaya Touré - Sánchez

You definitely need to downgrade one of your mids to upgrade Zamora (won't play and one of those defenders at least. I'd ditch Tadic or Eriksen for Albrighton or 5m midfielder and boost those others. Yaya and Costa and Sanchez and Hazard is really costing you elsewhere. Sanchez to Ramsey is another move worth considering.

Its hard to fault it really. All I'd say is your attack is a little weak with both Bojan and JWP. Its not a bad idea going with two cheapies if you plan to rotate them but JWP might not be nailed on (although I do expect him to get plenty of game time).

    Hi guys,

Also first post here — RMT comments greatly appreciated. Will feedback myself also where I feel I can! 🙂

    De Gea (Gilks)
B Davies – Chester – Cameron (Hangeland, Duff)
Hazard – Henderson – Mata – Sanchez (El Ahmadi)
    Jovetic – Costa – Giroud

    0.5m ITB

Immediately I think Jovetic is probably not a good pick, not guaranteed game time.

    Other thoughts:

    – Swap Sanchez for Y Toure?
    – Swap Jovetic for Dzeko?
    – Siggy instead of Hendo?

    – Downgrade a defender and swap Jovetic for someone like Lukaku?

    Many thanks!

(Will be swapping Costa for Rooney after Chelsea's favourable 2 openers, and De Gea to Speroni around GW 8)

I think Siggy is better than Henderson as he plays further up the pitch.
I'm not convinced that Costa will outscore Rooney over the first two.
I get frustrated by City strikers every season but when they play they get goals, picking one is a lottery.

It's a tough one, the only mid I'd want to upgrade would be siggy --> Fab. I dont think there is any more value than siggy between 6.5 & 9m.

That would mean stripping 3m out of the defence, meaning the loss of Chelsea cover.

Gives me a few weeks to find out who is better out of the players I have (Hazard/Fabregas, Dzeko/Jovetic) whilst they have good fixtures. I can also find out who stands out for Arsenal and who plays in the hole for Tottenham and transfer them in around week 3 or 4.

I looked at my team, and I was so happy with it, that I destroyed it.

And now I'm unsure. Any help would be gratefully received!

    Mannone/Krul

Evans, Collocini, Van Aanholt, (Ward, Wisdom)

Herrera, Sterling, Sanchez, Hazard (Albrighton - is he the most picked sub? Hmm)

    Bojan, Costa, Rooney.

I can swap Haz for Fab and gain +1m but there's no real room to move anywhere else?
This is the first time I've made a squad I'm both happy with, and hate. Argh?

That's a tough conundrum (when you're happy with it yet you hate it 😛 )

I'm not buying this bojan love, so I'd monitor/actually check him out before blindly jumping on the bandwagon (my apologies if this was a carefully considered decision).

Perhaps begovic over Man/Krul rotating, just because:
      1) you avoid the hassle of having to pick
      2) you avoid the anguish of picking wrong
3 stoke are (historically at least) more defensively solid than NEW and SUN
      4) stoke's fixtures for the first 11 are great!

Not so sure about the Herrera pick either, but again, that's personal opinion.

Hmm. Yes (it was a blind jump, but I couldn't afford anyone significantly EPL seasoned)
I was debating Bego, or DDG so I'll take that advice.

I' don't know a lot about Herrera but it's a punt; but I'll keep looking @ the remaining preseason forms. Thanks (y)

OK...thanks lads, but that leaves me with 0.5 to find to upgrade to Foster or find another rotation candidate for my other keeper who is Krul. Here is the current draft team for GW 1-4 so where can I find 0.5

        Myhill (Krul)

Albrighton Mata (v) Hazard Sanchez (El Ahmadi)

        Rooney (c) DC Pele

I always play 3-43 and yes, I know I could swap Hazard to Fab, but then I would have to change my team name back Again from Falcon's Hazard to Falcon's Fab 15.Was Falcon's Magic Lamp last season.....but that is not going to work unless Lamps starts regularly for MC???

(you can tell I am a Chelsea Fan being a bit bothered by Manu having the best fixtures for GW 1-4 followed by Hull (hence Bruce) and only then Chelsea.

Utd's opening 6 fixtures should yield a lot of clean sheets. DDG is more than what I would usually spend on a keeper, but the fixtures seem favourable.

I have him rotated with Gilks (Burnley) for a 9.5 combo. Otherwise there are a few articles around on goalkeeper rotation. I think Krul/Begovic/Speroni are all hot picks.

I have recently converted to Lloris with a 4.0m benchwarmer. This has satisfied my hankering for vertonghen and has allowed me to save .5m by getting Evans and Lloris rather than DDG and Vert.

Would like to have some thoughts on whether it's best having the 0.5 saved by selecting a second GK who will never play (e.g. Gilks) to spend elsewhere, or spending the 4.5 on a keeper like Foster or Krul who could step in if required.

I keep wavering on this but I'm leaning towards the former.

Depends on who your first choice keeper is. If they are 5.5 or more definitely get a 4.0 backup. If they are 4.5 you should rotate with another 4.5

Please RMT, first year using this site.
    Very excited.
Participating in 2 personal leagues with some small cash sums up for grabs, 1 of which i was the victor last season and would like to retain my title or go down fighting!

    Begovic / Mannoe

    F.Luis Shaw Debuchey / Marriappa R.Ferdinand

Mata Hazard Eriksen Snody / Albrighton

    Costa Rooney Bojan

I have gone for Rooney and Mata based on pre-season form, it is my lack of man city and arsenal players which scares me. Do i need some cover from these teams?

I think coverage is a bit of a myth but I know what you mean. Your midfield looks a little light so if be inclined to downgrade the defence for additional funds. With arsenal's tough opening fixtures debuchy to a 4.0m would allow snodgrass to be upgraded. I would also consider sigurdsson.

if i get a 4.0 for debuchey this would allow me to upgrade Albrighton to siggy and keep snody?

i am just not overly convinced by some of the 7.5/8.5 midfielders that are on offer

Is this viable if Young is nailed on...?

    Krulliot
    Davies-Clyne-Luis (4.5/4)
    Ramsey-Mata-Fabregas-Sterling-Young
    Rooney-Costa (4.5)
