With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Athletico Timbo’s RMT.

Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Terry, Ben Davies, Wisdom, Moore
Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Albrighton
Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor.

0.5 in the bank

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

    RMT please:

I only plan for GW 1-3:

    Krul (GW2&3), Green (GW1)
Terry and Evans (GW1-3), Wisdom (GW1), Taylor (GW2&3), Bruce (Backup)
    Fabregas (GW1-3), Erikson (GW1-3), Mata (GW1-3), Holliet (GW1), Sigurdsson (GW2-3)
    Rooney (GW1-3), Costa (GW1-3), Dzeko (GW1-3)

    0.0 in the Bank

Still Thinking about bringing in Hazard for Fabregas and Lukaku for Costa (with 0.5 in the bank)

    regards from Switzerland! 😉

Looks like a solid plan. Should see favourable fixtures for each of first 3 weeks.

I want Hazard too but not sure if he's going to 100% in time for Burnley. So I'm thinking of Fab at least temporarily to fill the spot.

I'm almost hoping Hazard isn't ready so that his value could come down a bit. He's owned by 20%+ so if he were to be eased in and fall down a bit in price and Fabregas rocketed up it could see extra money for the wild card.

He probably will be fit though. For now I'm just waiting for more information.

Ok folks, would REALLY appreciate some feedback on this:

    Krul Elliot

Debuchy P.Jones (Cameron /Taylor alternating) Wisdom

    Sanchez Sigurdsson Mata Ramsey Nasri

Rooney Dzeko Bojan (alternating with sigudsson)

    I’m pretty happy, thoughts tho??

Short term i prefer the 3-4-3 option. With the 3-5-2 personally I'd move Barkley to a cheaper option like Sigurdsson, Snodgrass, maybe even Arnautovic and make Zamora a playing forward.

Longer term the 3-5-2 might be the stronger lineup. But I'd go 3-4-3 option for now.

Current RMT, feel free to comment

    Foster/Krul
    Jones/Ward/Huth/Ferdinand/Hutton
    Hazard/Ramsey/Mata/Erikssen/Sigurdsson
    Rooney/Dzeko/Bojan
0.5 in the bank for flexibility

Defence and GK rotation works fine for first six weeks. In 6 seasons always used WC early, so not much stress there-

Other combo is Erikssen/Bojan for Ade/Albrighton.
+ is 0,5 more cash for flexibility or I could get 6 mil defender for Ward (although not really in need for it)
    - is thin bench, Siggy plays always since Albrighton has bad bad fixtures

With no attack he at least needs extra quality defence. Here he has no playing defence. Good possibility that he will end up with 8 players in GW1 with this team.

It's a good idea in theory, but if Rooney flops then you are relying waaaaay too much on that midfield, and almost half your salary is injected there!!!

I'd suggest finding at least one more premium striker alongside Rooney (Costa, Giroud, Lukaku), and bringing in Sigurdsson, Albrighton or another cheaper midfield option. I'd drop Fabregas out of that bunch. Goalkeepers seem alright, they should have decent rotations, but that defence is a little light, plus Mariappa and Pieters aren't completely nailed on yet.

Just keep tinkering with it mate, it's got the makings of an awesome team 🙂

I think Hazard covers him fine, having both is super costly. I think Sanchez and Giroud could be worth the punt, because Arsenal are starting to look mighty good all over the park. Yaya is a pricey cover, but he could burst out of the gates again. Personally, I see him as too expensive right now. I agree that Rooney should have one of his best seasons this year, but having no real cover for him is madness 😛

everything is relying on Rooney here, but i can live with that one. Any other forwarder i try to chuck in, there is a better midfielder(s) to replace him with in the same team.. As to defenders, next week will show wich 4.0 and 4.5 will be nailed one. Keepers cant be better. Got money invested in couple of leagues so i guess i'll try this one out for starters 🙂 won 3/3 betting leagues last season. it was sooo much easier than this year, so far 🙂

    Current lineup (3-4-3):

    Foster / Krul
    Ward(b) / Pocognoli / Gibbs / Shaw / Trippier(b)
    Gerrard / Sanchez / Hazard / Siggy / Puncheon(b)
    Pelle / Nugent / Rooney

    Option 2 (3-4-3):

    De Gea / Myhill
    Baines / Pocognoli / Chester / Trippier(b) / Ward(b)
    Ramsey / Hazard / Sterling / Albrighton / Siggy(b)
    Pelle / Lukaku / Rooney

    Option 3

    Howard / Krul
    Jones / Ferdinand / Gibbs / Ward / Bruce

The Lamela punt is a good one, although Eriksen is "safer". Not sold on Jovetic, van Aanholt or Marriapa. You could downgrade the benched defenders to Moore and Wisdom, which would give you enough money to upgrade Jovetic to Giroud or Lukaku. With a bit more cash you could also get Diego Costa, but Fabregas/Hazard plus Terry seems like suitable Chelsea cover.

Looks very solid, following the template nicely. Just make sure you have a way out if Bojan flops. One option could be van Aanholt to Moore/Wisdom, then Luis to Ben Davies, which gives you enough to upgrade Krul to Begovic/Speroni and Ramsey to Sanchez.

Don't choose a team solely based on pre-season form. We all still wear the scars of the "Boselli Incident" 😉

Everton's early run doesn't justify starting Baines this early, so downgrade him to someone with better fixtures like Evans/Jones or Luis. Midfield is good, Dzeko is a little iffy, Nugent could be a nice differential. Maybe downgrade Cameron to Moore/Hutton and use the extra dosh to get Giroud or Lukaku over Dzeko because we all know what Man City are like with their rotations. It's a roller coaster ride you don't wanna be on 😛

Really solid, defense is versatile with a stud.

You already know Bojan over Nugent.

Then there's Dzeko or Jov? that's undecided, until Aguero gets damaged. I'd go Giroud initially.

Good for u, I'm trying to figure out how to get back to a healthy Baines.

Isn't the Arsenal midfield a wonderful crapshoot? I'm not touching that cluster-F.

Not sold on Nasri, Eriksen or Lamela would be better choices IMO. Dzeko is an interesting one, if he can finally nail down some consistent game time then he's a steal at 7.5m, but this is Man City we are taking about, game time isn't guaranteed unless you're Joe Hart. Bench options are solid, not sure about Wood but he could be alright. Sterling with a tough run after Southampton, but he's turning into a class player.

      Team looks good man 🙂

        Oops, I meant Ward lol.

Thanks for the response. Nasri was consistent for me for large parts of last season with an Assist or Goal most weeks but if i can try find an extra 0.5m i might swap for Nasri.

I think Sterling can do it against anyone and i'm a Man Utd fan, but I'm worried if they don't get another striker that his assists wont be what they could be.

I did have Eriksen instead of Nasri in my last draft but with Lamela playing in the hole pre-season Eriksen hasn't done anything and worried that may continue in the league. I'll maybe bring Lamela in though after a couple of weeks if he is doing it!

Ward-Prowse will still struggle for game time, they just singed some more good wingers. Jovetic will be challenging Dzeko and Aguero all season and struggle for solid game time. Baines is too pricey for this early in the season, get a Chelsea or United defender instead and use the leftover money to upgrade your defence. Ben Davies would be solid back there 🙂

No, too much competition for points in that Arsenal team now. If Ramsey were £6.5m it's a different story but £9m is too much considering they have players like Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez. United have Cleverley, Fletcher and Herrera from midfield.

sell jags for a utd def, vlaar for Ntaylor and u will have a better defensive rotation.

This way I will have 3 United players, something I'm trying to avoid in the first gameweeks (having 3 players from ANY team).
What you'd suggest as United defender - Shaw being the obvious choice, of course.
Can't afford another 10+mil. striker without redoing the whole team - maybe replacing Sturrige with Rooney ?
What makes you think Ntaylor with outscore vlaar ?

    what does anyone think?

    DDG (myhill)
    Oshea / Vertonghen / Cahill / (Vlaar(any other 4.5?) Bartley)
Mata / yaya / hazard / siggy (albrighton)
Rooney / bojan / dzeko(or adebayor or giroud)

anyone see any potential improvments, possibly vertonghen out for 5 miller,
hazard for Fab then dzeko/giroud/adebayor for Costa?

Vertonghen out for Davies sounds good, then you can use that money to upgrade Dzeko to Giroud or Lukaku (adebayor isn't a good idea).

      Hope that helps 🙂

Ok so here is my second draft....

    Begovic/Gilks

J Evans, Cahill, Wisdom, Mariappa, N Taylor

    Hazard, Mata, Sterling, Erickson, Siggy

    Rooney, Dzeko, Bojan

Not convinced how Ramsey/ Sanchez will fair early on and I will likely wildcard gameweek 4.

How does this look for the first 3 weeks?

Watch out for Mariappa losing his place.

I'm skeptical of the Siggy/Bojan rotation that you're obviously planning. Last time Siggy was a Swan, he scored 6 of his 7 goals away from home. Doesn't mean he'll do the same thing this time, but it does highlight the problem of rotating attacking players.

Avoiding Ramsey and Sanchez is probably a very wise thing to do, but you will need to prepare for at least one of them to have risen in price by GW4.

      Sound team for all that.

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes, as a Palace fan I agree about Mariappa and desperately wanted to put Ward in. We did play Ledley at left back a few times last season too, but unless TP signs another fullback I am fairly sure Mariappa will start the season.

Busy rating other people's teams but I'll quickly pop mine up here. Just spent the last couple of hours tinkering with it after reading the articles and discussions. 90% happy with it so far:

    Begovic/Myhill

    B.Davies/N.Taylor/Wisdom/Moore/Hutton

    Sanchez/Hazard/Mata/Eriksen/Albrighton

    Rooney/Giroud/Bony

Nothing left in the bank. Bony will be amazing this season, calling it. Rest of the team is good, all I'm waiting on is confirmation that those defenders will play and get me points.

Tear it apart for me 😛

Regarding Fabregas, do we see him playing in the "hole" until Oscar proves his fitness (and form) or do we expect him to start alongside Matic in the "double pivot". Also, when he was at Arsenal was he used mainly behind the striker or deeper??
