With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

D1sable tells us he wants a Manchester United and a Chelsea defender but he is unsure about Luis Felipe’s game time and doesn’t trust Manchester United defenders to stay fit. Luke Shaw’s fitness is a particular concern.

He hasn’t gone for rotation at the back, just selected defenders from defensive sides. While in midfield he really wants Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure but he has found he just decimates the team with his price. Toure could be brought in with a wildcard later. He is also a reluctant owner of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, with Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas waiting in the wings. Liverpool’s attack is another area he feels he is lacking and he is concerned that Diego Costa may not be the best route into Chelsea goals and assists.

  I like it. Replace Mannone though. He's not 100% nailed. Also Vlaar is unlikely to start the season so his price may drop.

Not sure it's good to plan transfers but planning Arnie -> Siggy GW2 and Chambers -> Cheapest nailed Stoke def GW4.

  I generally don't like the idea of lining transfers up beforehand, but waiting for the Stoke defence might be prudent. There is still some debate around here as to who is nailed on.
  Planning Arnautovic to Sigdursson, that I don't really like. What if Arnautovic scores well in gw1? Will you really dump him?
  There will be so many other transfers that you will want to make after gw1, so you may just be cisting yourself 4 points.
  The rest of the team is good... rather template perhaps.

  Too early to plan those transfers imo.
  Unless Arnie beats Siggy by 4 or more, you waste a transfer. Chambers has a life span of 1 GW, more if RB but no guarantees. Strong team otherwise.

What to do with one mil in the bank.

Here's my team at the moment:

Green (Speroni)
Felipe Luis, Davies, Debuchy (O'Shea, Colloccini)
Eriksen, Ramsey, Hazard, Arnautovic (Sigurdsson)
Rooney, Dzeko, Bojan

Got one mil left. The plan right now is to hold on to it untill after GW1 to deal with surprises.

I could however upgrade Luis+Debuchy to Terry+Koscielny or change Eriksen+Dzeko to Sterling+Lukaku or even do Luis to Ivanovic or Baines. That would make my team stronger, but I would loose flexibility in transfers.

Any thoughts?

  upgrade Luis for the nailed on Terry upgrade Davies to Lovren or Evans IMO
  
  I also prefer Begovic or better yet DDG+4.0 he's good for about 8 games

    Thanks. I'm not sure about the MU defence right now. With the 3-5-2 and new coach, I'd rather wait for a week or two before I buy into it even though DDG is really tempting. Another reason why one mil in the bank can come in handy. The lack of Liverpool coverage is also a worry, but i'd rather get it further up the field. I don't see Liverpool getting more CS than Spurs in the short or long term.

Haven't really touched my team for a week or so now. Was all set on it but now have some worries, any feedback appreciated:

Krul | Foster
Shaw | BDavies | Caulker | Ward | Targett
Sanchez | Fabregas | Eriksen | Sigurdsson | Albrighton
Sturridge | Rooney | Wickham

Have worries about Shaw & BDavies game time along with Sturridges fitness.

  Watch Sturridge news. He is a player who with niggles doesn't play.
  Still a week to go so players like Targett & the 2 you mentioned to a lesser extent need monitoring.
  Strong team if Wickham does well.

  Bertrand will play ahead of Targett - so Wisdom maybe a better 4.0 pick - not a lot of choice in the bargain basement though. 🙂

Morning folks. Any thoughts on my team. I am primarily concerned about the cheapness of my defensive unit. Davis/Fletcher rotation looks decent enough and i think both players have the potential to outperform their lowly prices.

    Good point. I had the Krul/Foster rotation but needed the extra 0.5 and missed that I was doubling up on Mackems.
    
    Do you think it is worth doing Haz to Fab and using the extra 0.1 to spruce up my defence?

        Sound advice. I am a Spurs fan and although I try not to be biased, I do need a sPurs player in my team. 😀
        
        I have toyed with not starting GW1 with an Arsenal player but will end up taking hits to bring one in.
        
        Might just to Ward to Chester and then reintroduce Krul & Foster.

After the Eriksen post I did Sterling+Krul+Elliot>Eriksen+Begovic+Elliot and am happy (Matter of fact not that happy in case Eriksen blanks and sterling scores 2 in opening game)

First RMT here, thanks in advance!

Bego/Gilks
Luis, Evans, Wisdom, (Bartley, Hutton)
Mata, Ramsey, Eriksen, Fabregas, (Siggy)
Roo, Costa, Bojan

Basically going for a big GW1-2, learn the cheap bandwagons and top performers, and then downgrade the 8th attacking player as needed. Does this make sense?

Tempted to go with Vert over Luis for the same reason since am taking gametime/fixture risks already with the other three defenders. Thanks for the advice!

My general preferences - go with mostly proven players, WC late in the season, watch every target play first. (Second FPL season, finished 5k last year with some lucky early picks, dunno much about early WCs)

    Fair point, thanks. Depending on how Tottenham do in their last friendly, might get Vert instead of Luis, or split Luis + 4M to two 5Ms.
    
    OK with sticking with Bego though. Stoke are shaping up nicely I think. Smart acquisitions, enough competition in Def, and with an attacking lineup, their away performances might be more confident too.

    I've not based this on fixtures but Noble or Steven Davies are decent picks over the course of the season. Both regulars & pen takers neither is going to set the world alight but they are reliable back up

    I'm a United fan and have been watching the pre-season games. I agree about Young's form, he's been a revelation, but I think that he'll start on the right.
    
    Shaw looked great against Liverpool and certainly demonstrated that fitness is no longer a problem. I think Van Gaal used it as a way of keeping him grounded after a big move.

Would appreciate comments on the below:

Krul, Elliot

Evans, Simpson (Yoshida) Baird (N Taylor)

Hazard, Ramsey, Mata, Eriksen (Siggy)

Rooney, Costa, Bojan

Reasons:

GK: Cheap pair, I need the cash. Would prefer a rotating pair or playing 4.0 GK are there any?

DEF: Evans - great fixtures. Simpson - attacking defender who rotates with Yoshida to give 8 home games to start. Baird - a risk I know but played most pre-season and was good at Fulham, rotates well with N Taylor.

MID: Hazard as Fab is playing too deep. Ramsey I could lose due to tough fixtures but he was great last year so no reason he won't do it again. Mata great fixtures. Eriksen I think will be great value. Siggy is again great value but am tempted to lose him for Albrighton.

FWD: Costa first two fixtures scream goals. Bojan is a risk but am rotating with Siggy. Am tempted to try and get in Dzeko but his fixtures are poor.
