With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

D1sable tells us he wants a Manchester United and a Chelsea defender but he is unsure about Luis Felipe’s game time and doesn’t trust Manchester United defenders to stay fit. Luke Shaw’s fitness is a particular concern.

He hasn’t gone for rotation at the back, just selected defenders from defensive sides. While in midfield he really wants Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure but he has found he just decimates the team with his price. Toure could be brought in with a wildcard later. He is also a reluctant owner of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, with Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas waiting in the wings. Liverpool’s attack is another area he feels he is lacking and he is concerned that Diego Costa may not be the best route into Chelsea goals and assists.

Last year I read a great article of what to spend in each position in total. For instance 9,5m GK, 24,5 on def, 41 on mid and 25m on top. I can't really find it with the search function. It gave an idea of how well balanced your team would be according to the author, which had done his research by looking at past winner / great performers in the FPL. I don't know if anyone have a link to the article, if not what do you guys consider the optimal split?

I´ll start with my current split which I feel is to heavy on def and fwd, and to light on mid:

GK: 9m
DEF: 25m
MID: 36m
FWD:29,5
(BANK: 0,5m)

I want to be as flexible as possible, but at the same time I really believe we this year will see a lot of mid price mids doing really well, thats why I dont want to invest to much in midfield yet, as well as fought fix for Man C and Ars where I usually would include some mids.

Whats your thoughts guys?

I know you guys prefer people with Gravatars and I just signed up for mine yesterday so soon you will see a nice pic of the Rock here. That means no reason for not giving me some good replies 🙂

    Yup, same e-mail. But had to do it on iPhone so not sure it all went 100% correct, but I think so. Did say it should appear within 24 hours.
    
    I know there is no 100% correct way of deciding on the values for each positions, but in order to get as much flexibility and balance as possible some ranges of values will be good to have as an indicator.

  I think the balance changes year on year and also during periods of a season. Personally I'm going with big names up front such as Rooney, Costa, Dzeko so that automatically swings the balance to being top heavy. Its really hard to judge in pre season and there is no way I'll keep the same balance throughout the whole season.

  Hey buddy, I've never replied to one of these things but I think this might help...
  
  Sell Sanchez (I have a feeling you really don't want to)... Replace him with Ramsey (scored today and I think he's a solid choice for 9M)
  
  Use 1 million to updrade Fab to Hazard... Fab is a worry as he may play deep and Hazard is proven, good for points!
  
  Then use the last .5 to upgrade Luis to Terry or Cahill. If Luis doesn't play (and there is potential) then you're left with Debuchy, Cameron Duff/Moore.
  
  Cameron might not play and I'm not certain Duff will either... The last thing you want is missing players.
  
  Good luck!
  
  p.s I have done research in to these players potentially not playing... I had a lot of them myself! 🙂

    Indeed shipping Sanchez in return for the players you suggest seems like the right choice. My only concern is Hazard's form as he seems to be a bit out of it lately.
    
    I need to spend some more time fixing my defence as it seems weak right now.

      Agreed that first game is not strong, but after that he is the main striker for a team with great fixtures and he has preseason form (not that this is a guarantee of anything!)
      
      May pick Austin for week one and then bring Pelle in week 2.

  I like it, my only qualm would be Giroud as your Arsenal cover. He should be starting, but with Sanchez versatility and Sanogo waiting in the wings I'm just not sure if he's going to get the same points haul this year.

  Pretty good, but depends on the rest of the team too. Consider Pelle in place of Remy depending on his form in the first few GWs. Or, pick up a cheaper striker and pick up a good midfielder in place.

Hi all. I have been routinely humiliated for the past 3 years to the point where I am synonymous with failure at fantasy football in the office. It hurts all the more more because I really, really want to win and personally don't like two of my smug colleagues who I have never beaten. They really are a couple of tools.

In this context, please rate my team:

GK: DDG (Elliot) (moving to Begovic/Mannone when MU fixtures get tougher around week 7)

DEF: Shaw, Davies (Tot), Cameron, (Morgan, Bruce) - bring Mariappa for Davies when Palace get easier games

MID: Sanchez, Yaya, Siggi, Albrighton (Puncheon)

FWD: Rooney (c), Costa, Remy

Fears: (a) Yaya too expensive, might be in a huff this season; (b) Costa untried in England, (c) not enough Chelsea.

Thank you in advance for your help, it's much needed.

  I think the midfield should be strengthend. I would prob drop yaya (for now), and try to pick up a total of at least 4 solid midfielders. Siggi and sanchez are good, and albrighton is your cheap one, so i would swap yaya and puncheon for eriksen and mata. Front line looks good, but if Remy is not in form he should be switched. Shaw' fitness is in question right now so consider Terry if the funds are available. Just my thougts...

I have eriksen but could be Lamela, Tadic, or De Jong. Or i can keep mannone, switch debuchy for 5M defender, and have 9m to swap Ramsey for Eriksen. Thoughts?

After GW1, plan to transfer Jovetic to Sturridge.

Then is the rest are injury free, use the 9.0 Fabregas slot to "cherry pick" by fixtures, perhaps
GW3 - Ramsay @ LEI
GW4 - Fabregas v SWA
GW5 - Mata @ LEI

and so on....good strategy ?

Just an overall question but why do people keep saying that Cameron isn't nailed on? Seems like he is based on last season and performances at the world cup.

Thoughts on my team? Any downsides to using 3-4-3
Wasnt sure on who to go for between mata / ramsey but man u got better opening fixtures.
