With just six days remaining until the 2014/15 season gets up and running, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Community Shield this afternoon. As expected, both side’s starting line-ups have been heavily influenced by a lack of pre-season action for a number of World Cup stars, though Arsene Wenger hands all three of his main summer signings competitive debuts:

Man City Starting XI: Caballero; Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri; Jovetic, Dzeko

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny; Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla; Sanogo

For City, Stevan Jovetic has the chance to continue the form which has harvested five goals over the summer so far. The Montenegro international is partnered by Edin Dzeko up top and, whilst the likes of Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure also make the XI, Arsenal will be optimistic of taking advantage of an experimental City backline, which sees Gael Clichy fielded as a right-back once again and Aleks Kolarov patrolling the left.

Arsene Wenger names Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs. Aaron Ramsey owners will be buoyed by what appears to be a move to the attacking midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere sitting in front of the defence. Up front, Sanchez’ role out wide means Yaya Sanogo gets the nod after his four-goal demolition of Benfica in last week’s Emirates Cup, with Olivier Giroud warming the bench again.

        Monreal didnt start the game.

I think Gibbs is a better defender than Kolorov. CB pairing was also better. Debuchy ahead of Clichy at RB

Kolarov is their first choice CB.

Anyway, the game was won in midfield where they had their strongest minus Silva only getting 45 mins.

The Arsenal back line wasn't exactly heralded either.

Chambers and Monreal are both primarily fullbacks, and played at CB.

Hey folks! The Ironman 14/15 is up and running. We're accepting new entrants. You just need to play: FPL, UFPL, UCL, Talksport Predictor and Goalscorer Challenge.

hey guys, hope everyone is enjoying football today. Actually I have few questions but I will ask in different posts so that if anyone was kind enough to reply it won't be too much.

I've tried for the 1st time to downgrade my 3rd striker to 6m. I've always had 3 good ones but the rest of my team wasn't satisfying enough. I know I have to sacrifice a bit but a striker not in a team that scores more often shouldn't get too much points ithink. When I downgraded my 3rd striker, the rest of my team became very much appealing. I would put my team but I know I should move to another thread.

    What do u think guys?

Ever since I put Bojan in, I've been loving my DEFs and MIDs.

My first choice 4 MIDs are Sanchez, Mata, Fabregas, and Lamela, and none of my DEFs is less than 5 ducats.

I'm going in with both. Hazard played in tons of crosses and key passes last season but not many resulted in assists because of a lack of quality in the striking department. With Costa in there I predict many more assists for Hazard, and of course a general boost to Chelsea's attack.

Very tough choice. I would say choose whichever one u like, and when they get injured, switch to the other, or have both, who else is in your midfield?

    Anyone have thoughts on Giroud?

would you put him in your team? or would you put the points elsewhere?

    Giroud or Dzeko?

Dzeko for me. Wouldn't want to start the season with Giroud, especially when there's 3 or 4 other decent choices in his price bracket.

Steady at the moment, but I'm starting to consider Sturridge.

Getting him GW4 would involve stripping 1.0m from elsewhere. Might be easier to start with him.

Sturridge is just better than Costa whereas DDG is a much better option than Krul.

The first option. DDG will obviously outscore Krul by a fair margin, especially during the first few games, and Costa should edge Sturridge.

RMT please. Not happy with GK options. Also, not convinced by Bojan, but if I try and bring in £8.5m striker, my defence is shocking.

    Foster (£4m)
    Debuchy, Evans, Luis (Wisdom, Hutton)
    Ramsey, Lamela, Hazard, Sterling (4.5m)
    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

I personally like to go with the crowd in the initial gameweeks.
So I wouldnt have Rodwell and Isgrove in there. The frontline looks great, although I'm going for Dzeko over Giroud personally
