With just six days remaining until the 2014/15 season gets up and running, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Community Shield this afternoon. As expected, both side’s starting line-ups have been heavily influenced by a lack of pre-season action for a number of World Cup stars, though Arsene Wenger hands all three of his main summer signings competitive debuts:

Man City Starting XI: Caballero; Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri; Jovetic, Dzeko

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny; Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla; Sanogo

For City, Stevan Jovetic has the chance to continue the form which has harvested five goals over the summer so far. The Montenegro international is partnered by Edin Dzeko up top and, whilst the likes of Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure also make the XI, Arsenal will be optimistic of taking advantage of an experimental City backline, which sees Gael Clichy fielded as a right-back once again and Aleks Kolarov patrolling the left.

Arsene Wenger names Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs. Aaron Ramsey owners will be buoyed by what appears to be a move to the attacking midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere sitting in front of the defence. Up front, Sanchez’ role out wide means Yaya Sanogo gets the nod after his four-goal demolition of Benfica in last week’s Emirates Cup, with Olivier Giroud warming the bench again.

    In my quest for the perfect, mid-priced 3rd striker I have now made a full circle and am back where I was weeks ago: Pellè.

    Not exacty sure if it's because his insane record under Koeman the last 2 seasons (66 apps, 55 goals and 15 assists) or because the other mid-priced strikers are all steaming piles of dung covered in the tears of all the players they have trolled before.

    Who is your favorite striker in the 7-9m bracket?

    Is anyone else not spending their full £100m in GW1? It sounds odd, and your team will be worse in GW1 compared to if you had spent that £100m, but my logic is this:

    In gw1/2/3 there will be 3 or 4 players who do exceptionally well. Chances are you'll want to get them to catch their price rise or to hold on long term. But if you've spent £100m then you have little choice who to sell - e.g. if you have sanchez but hazard kills it in gw 1 and 2, you'll have to sell sanchez even if he looks good. If a 5mil defender does well, you'll have to sell one of your starting defenders etc.

    Whereas if you keep 2/3 mil in the bank, you're not forced to sell players you don't want to as chances are you can upgrade someone. thoughts?

      It's handy keeping money back, but most will spend it all.

      The main reason for keeping it back is to allow you to make sensible transfers, without having to panic and take hits in lieu of price rises. 0.5-1M is all you need for this.

      I'd go with Siggy over Hendo, and Evans over Shaw, then get Cahill over Luis with the change from Austin > Nugent/Bojan.

      BTW, I'm not sure about rotating 5.0 GKs. Could downgrade if you wanted to. Otherwise a solid team.

    It's not quite a RMT, as I have a specific query!

    I am waiting until the last minute to make a decision on the three 4M players, but wanted to ask how you would spend 0.5M on this team:

    Krul | Elliot
    Luis | Evans | 4M | 4M | 4M
    Mata | Hazard | Ramsey | Henderson | Marney
    Rooney | Costa | Jovetic

    a) save it, it will be handy for making transfers without a hit in lieu of price rises.
    b) Luis --> Cahill, he is more assured of time and you'll need him with those 3 x 4M.
    c) 1 x 4M --> 1 x 4.5M
    d) Henderson --> Arnautovic
    e) Jovetic --> Dzeko
    f) your suggestion goes here!

        Just don't fancy him yet... Fab/Sanchez over Haz/Ramsey is just a few too many punts, given my ownership of Luis and Costa.

          In truth you need to find some sort of defence. With the new rules added for dribbles I'd try and find wing back/full backs in there - Evans for Shaw or something?

    I've changed my team 12 times. 12. And still no clearer. The only players to make every draft are Mata and Rooney ... no surprise there. I keep getting pulled to Pelle too ... a forward line of Rooney, Giroud, Pelle?

      If you've still got Giroud in your draft at the 12th time of asking it's time for a well needed break

        Ha! True ... I do need a break! He was out for a long time - then I jumped on his bandwagon today as he scored a beauty! *Sigh*

          It was deflected. Trust me as an Arsenal fan watching him every week he drives me insane and hopefully will be replaced by Sanogo soon.
          However, while he is in the team it's better to invest in midfield options such as Ramsey & then Ozil when he's fit because they should clean up our attacking points along with alexis & Walcott.

      I have 100% different team from my first draft. Originally had RVP instead of Rooney.

    So is anyone still keeping Sanchez? I'm not gonna rate his FPL potential based on one half but should I just play safe and go for Ramsey?
