With just six days remaining until the 2014/15 season gets up and running, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Community Shield this afternoon. As expected, both side’s starting line-ups have been heavily influenced by a lack of pre-season action for a number of World Cup stars, though Arsene Wenger hands all three of his main summer signings competitive debuts:

Man City Starting XI: Caballero; Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri; Jovetic, Dzeko

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny; Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla; Sanogo

For City, Stevan Jovetic has the chance to continue the form which has harvested five goals over the summer so far. The Montenegro international is partnered by Edin Dzeko up top and, whilst the likes of Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure also make the XI, Arsenal will be optimistic of taking advantage of an experimental City backline, which sees Gael Clichy fielded as a right-back once again and Aleks Kolarov patrolling the left.

Arsene Wenger names Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs. Aaron Ramsey owners will be buoyed by what appears to be a move to the attacking midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere sitting in front of the defence. Up front, Sanchez’ role out wide means Yaya Sanogo gets the nod after his four-goal demolition of Benfica in last week’s Emirates Cup, with Olivier Giroud warming the bench again.

Seems like it doesn't it but the wisest course of action is a wait and see approach as he'll be easier to draft in if he starts firing as he's so cheap

siggy on the wing? bah was hoping he'd fill michu's position in the hole behind bony. still fancy siggy to get 8-10 goals which for 6 mill makes him a cert in my team. fo this seasons lallana or ramsey, tadic got 16 last season, cabella 14 and de jong usually gets more than 10 albeit in weaker leagues

Tadic is too expensive at 7.5 to be the next Ramsey. For that price he is expected to get a lot of points. If Siggy was guaranteed to be in the hole, I would have him no questions asked.

Anyone tempted by Schurrle? Could be big rotation risk but a great world cup and always scores when on pitch, 7.5 for Chelsea attacker looks like a good punt?

not for me. any player no matter how good he is is not up for contention in my team if he isnt at least 90% to start every game. schurrle has hazard, willian, salah plus Oscar and cesc can also play on wings. schurrle might end up sub in prem n CL and start every f.a cup, capital one game which isn't much good in FPL

First half second 11 other than cech, schurrle, Luis/azpi battle.

Second half injected all first team players and looked excellent.

Fabregas double pivot next to Matic when full strength on.

Contrary to everyone else, I actually think he is. Luis will play most games. The question is whether the 0.5m extra for Terry is worth. He arguably has a greater goal threat and bonus point potential.

I should know. I am the manager!!

Seem to remember WH is Spurs bogey team - didn't they lose to them 3 times last season? I know WH have had a terrible pre-season, but all the same....

Who do you think will score more out of Sig and Nzogbia? Then you know.

Planned to go without Arsenal cover to start with but today made me think again. I might switch Sig to Ramsey, and to fund it, should I do:

    A. Costa to Riviere
    B. Jovetic to Jutkiewicz

I have no other City cover but I do have Hazard. B involves rotating Jutkiewicz with a 4th defender, A is a 3-4-3.
