The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

    Hey all: I feel like my team is really where it needs to be but still having a bit of doubt over austin

      1. Unlikely that any striker playing for an average attacking outfit will 'perform' in the BPL, unless the expectations are rather low.

      2. Ref. next question.

      3. You'd need 2.5 to get to the next striker bracket with decent options (Dzeko/Giroud/Jovetic/etc). One way to finance it : Sturridge > Costa; Hazard > Fabregas; Ward > Mariappa

      OR if you want to keep Sturridge: DDG > Bego; Ward > Mariappa; Hazard > Fabregas (or alternatively one of Rambo or Mata to Lamela/Eriksen/etc.); Terry > Luis (or alternatively one of Rambo or Mata to Sterling)

      Initially, probably yes. When Mertesacker is back and fit, though, he may be more used for rotation in the cup competitions.

      For the first 2 weeks, in all likelihood.

      Advantages of choosing him: gives you time to see who the other nailed on, good choice 4.5s are.

      Disadvantages: Waste of a transfer, stifling other potential changes, planning in advance (never a good thing)

        Yea I'm hoping Cameron is a guaranteed starter, he played all the time last year anyway.
        Myhill is a worry though I agree. Not sure why other keeper rotation I should go for though.. any suggestions much appreciated

      You've got the three best forwards, but your defense looks a little shaky to me. I don't think Rosenior is nailed on to start, for example, and I don't think you'll get many clean sheets from either Burnley or Aston Villa.

      I had the same problem with thin DEF when I had De Gea as my GK. I fixed it by changing keepers and adding a man united defender as my third guy after Rooney and Mata. Hope that helps. Good luck.

      Notes: I like all positions other than the forwards. Lukaku to Dzeko for me because of fixtures. Lukaku fitness is an issue and he may not start GW1 which is the only kind game they have to be honest.

      Notes: I like the defence, but it has hindered your attack. Its a nice differential team and looks like you have spent more than 100M.

    Repost for some advice.

    Begovic (Kruul) - fitting swaps until gw 14 or something.
    Clyne Taylor Chambers Evans Manquillo
    Hazzard Eriksen Ramsey Huddlestone Mata
    Rooney Bojan Adebayor

    Thoughts: A bit weak on top but think ade can make an early impact due to new manager and a more set midfield. Rooney captain material but missing out on Costa thought not yet proven. Could swap with hazzard and trade down in midfield but not plenty of options.

    Could go dzeco over ade but its more short term and man c face a hard start and could well be few points, not great in com shield either.

    Happy with my GK and there rotation and with the defence more or less aswell If manquillo should start.

    Any thoughts ideas for swaps would be greatly appriciated.

    Been working today on establishing a team with maximum returns for the first 6 GWs. Here is what I got:

    4.5/4 (tossing between Krul and Foster for now)

    Cahill, Evans, Chester, Taylor, 4m (ideally this person is bench fodder)

    Ramsey, Mata, Siggy, Mutch, 4.5m (Siggy can be changed to Henderson or Snoddy for GW1)

    Sturridge, Rooney, Costa.

    So I have two big defenders at the back with a solid Hull/Swansea rotational.
    Ramsey, Mata, Sturridge, Rooney and Costa up top. Should one of the forwards fail, they will be downgraded to an on form 8.5m with the surplus 2m reinvested on the midfield.

    I've checked the returns from the projections section with positive results.

    So, any critiques?

      I think Stirling has more potential but for a consistent performer go with Gerrard. I'm still taking a risk on Sterling though.

      Notes: Keepers weak. Would do a 4.5>4.0 personally. Then get Sterling over Eriksen. Nice spread of players, but no Costa is a worry. Wouldn't drop Eriksen for Arny, but Siggy perhaps.

      What do you need the 1M for?
