With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

    Gents:

    Would love your thoughts here (I've been tinkering with my defense so much I might go blind soon!)...

    GK: DDG / Gilks
    DEF: Cahill / Debuchy / PVA / Coloccini / Bartley
    MID: Hazard / Mata / Ramsey / Siggy / Isgrove
    FWD: Rooney / Costa / Bojan

    Also have £0.5 in the bank to play with. I feel good about the FWD & GK situation... and my three heavy-hitter MIDs.

    Would love ideas on how to make the DEF stronger. And if the fourth and fifth MIDs need upgrading.

      8/10 Just a couple of things need changing.
      Bartley -> Moore/Duff
      Isgrove isn't going to play with Shane Long arriving and Ramirez likely to get minutes as well
      Also do you really want to play 2 of Siggy and Bojan every week?

    Fairly pleased with this, defence lacking a bit of steal but I have good rotation for opening fixtures and very solid midfield attack.

      Solid. not far off mine, either this or downgrade a Mid for a big Def (Terry/Cahill). Also consider Dzeko gametime with Jovetic around

          i wouldn't recommend anyone but Cahill/Terry. I had exact same issue, but decided to spend the extra 0.5 for certainty of game time

      I think he's going to start but I don't want to take the risk of Azpilicueta starting ahead of him. When he's nailed on he'll be a very good option at 6m

    Hi guys, could I have a RMT please? I've went 3-5-2 because I think there's more options in midfield this year, and having enjoyed watching Chile at the WC I wanted to take a bit of a punt on Sanchez. I've loaded the midfield pretty heavy and took a hit on the defence, am I at least assured of starts with the three I've got at the back?

      Would take Dzeko or Jovetic over Fabregas for first few games atleast, while aguero isnt playing

      Prefer DDG to Lloris.
      That defence is awful and not because it's cheap as well. Cameron, Bruce and Saylor aren't nailed on. Yoshida will start the first game and maybe the second but will be replace soon after and Vlaar plays for Villa.
      Downgrade one of the big mids and upgrade the defence because you can't have a balanced team with that front 7.

        Cheers lads, could you suggest any def around 5/5.5? Think I'll take prof's advice and drop Fabregas for a Citeh striker, I wanted to get DDG in but already have 3 Utd, so I could downgrade Mata to help with the defence if I do that too.

          I'd get rid of Young for someone like Sigurdsson and downgrade Sanchez to someone cheaper to upgrade the defence. You can get him in later if he starts firing.

      You're doubling up on MU in midfield, not sure whether you'd like to consider swapping Young for maybe someone like Sterling? Also defense is a little lightweight. Bruce and Cameron may not start.

      Prefer Krul to Foster. Not that convinced on WBA defence atm.
      Defence is nice but don't get Wisdom if you keep Foster.
      Sacrificing too much for Rooney, Costa and Sturridge and it isn't going to be good value either because you have to captain them all regularly for that to happen. Downgrade one and upgrade midfield a bit.

      What are your keepers?
      Defence is a bit light for my taste. I'd try and find 0.5m/1m from midfield to improve it a bit.
      Don't think Naismith will start and even if he does he won't for very long. Jutkiewicz at Burnley is going to play for a while though and has been scoring lots in pre season.

      Defence is crap. Davies isn't nailed. Wouldn't want to play 1 of those 4m defs every week.
      Front 8 is great but I'd downgrade one of them to fund defence improvements.

    Stuck on this decision.

    A) Sterling + Zamora (Rotting on bench - probably not playing)

    B) Ings + Henderson rotating + 1m more to spend on defence

    Siggy will also be in the Ings/Henderson rotation (play 2 of 3) but will be a 100% starter if I go with Sterling.

          Toure is not essential. In fact, he's quite the differential around here. You are, however, missing the one essential player: Rooney. Downgrade Toure to Siggy and get Rooney.

          If you're going to spend 5.5m on a goalie have a £4m back up.
          Cahill, Ward and one of Moore and Wisdom is good. Vlaar should be replaced by another 4.5m. One of the 4m defs should be upgraded to 4.5m also.
          McCarthy needs to be replaced because you don't want to play him or Wanyama every week.
          Rooney is very close to essential and I would strongly recommend buying him.

          Haven't got a clue of Hutton or Wisdom, they don't feel too secure of starting long term to me and I much prefer Moore to both of them.
          Albrighton might not start so I'd go safe with Marney from Burnley

          I think Hutton will start the season but need to have a plan to get rid if he loses the spot. To be honest only GW's 2 and 3 look good.
          If you can go with just 1 4.0 player it makes the team so much better, you will rarely call on them

      see my comment below regarding DDG cover during tough fixtures, I would be inclined to go with Schmeichel.

      Wait to see on Lovren and liverpool defence, although if you like a gamble he who dares wins.

      Think you're a bit top heavy still though.

    Help with my backline guys:

    De Gea paired with:

    A) Guzan (AVL cover 8/8 MNU poor fixtures) or
    B) Schmeichel (LEI cover 7/8 MNU poor fixtures but more CS potential)

    Backline of

    Ivanovic, Gibbs (had more forward position than Debuchy vs City) with:

    1) Chester, Trippier, Mariappa (HUL/BUR rotation, CPL most weeks) 14.0m
    2) N Taylor, Cameron, Ward (SWA/STO roation + CPL) 14.0m
    3) Ward, Ferdinand, Chester (CPL, QPR rotation +HUL) 14.0m

    Please choose one from A or B and one from 123

      Different is good but if i can be honest your back line is not something i would go with.
      -Ivanovic is over priced imo, still ?s over who will start and you dont want 7m being rotated. People on here seem to thin Terry most nailed on.
      - Gibbs, fair enough
      -De gea, personally i think play him every game and have a 4.0 next to him

      Terry Gibbs then 3) Ward Caulker and Chester. Should still give you .5 left?

      You can post this on the main article btw. You'll probably get a lot better replies on there as well.

      Way too much in defence though.
      DDG with a 4m non starter. You'll never play Guzan or Schemichel therefore it's a waste of 0.5m
      Ivanovic -> Terry/Cahill. He isn't as safe as either of those two.
      If you have Arsenal and Chelsea defs then you want a cheap 3 to go with them. 2 4.5m defs and a 4m should be sufficent.

      I am ,i have gone with Henderson instead as it does look like he will have license to push forward this year.Even though he was pushed forward to start with last game i think it may be that way until Lallana is back

        No one will ever sell me on Snodgrass haha. Siggy did me well a couple of seasons back and was practically the difference between me and my stubborn fpl rivals.

      For a defence that cheap it's OK. Maybe want to have one premium defender from United or Chelsea just to sure it up a bit. Like the Henderson and Jutkiewicz picks.

        I like the way Henderson has been talked up by his manager to get 10 goals this season ! His been pushed forward in the last pre season game and looks like it would be that way until Lallana is fit right ? And even then if/when he gets pushed back to midfield looks like he may have a bit more right then last year to push forward.

        Jutkiewicz is there to make up numbers or am i better to pick someone like Bojan by downgrading my defence by .5.
        Just because Bojan is likely to get more followers then Jutkiewicz and have some decent rises in him ?

        I like the look of Fletcher at 5.5 but again same question with Jutkiewicz/Fletcher unlikely to have as many followers as Bojan due to form and fixtures

      Try and find 1m to upgrade Zamora to Jutkiewicz who will actually play and Luis to Cahill/Terry. If your defensive subs are that cheap you need security of starts from the main players.

        Thanks a lot for the reply. I'm also torn between 1 and 5. All could be better though! As team 1 owner, i've subbed out Walcott for the time being with Ozil (but might go for gerrard).

      Chelsea defenders have always proven to be consistent. Perhaps upgrade Debuchy to Luis? You might wanna rethink Albrighton also, he might be injured in GW1.

    RMT please, first time doing something like this, quite nervous and i wanna get a good start! 🙂

    Debuchy / Evans / Ward / (Wisdom) / (Bartley)
    Mata / Ramsey / Stirling / Siggy / (Marney)
    Rooney / Costa / Dzeko

    0.5 ITB.

    Any glaring mistakes?

    Not overly keen on my def but had to sacrifice somewhere and i think this seems stable. Originally had Luis in for Debuchy but scared of his status.
    Could change it to Cahil / Evans / Van An maybe?

    Also something not sitting right with Siggy. Ive noticed he seems a very popular choice here... Im considering using my 0.5 to swap him out for Adam Johnson... viable?

    Any help most appreciated cheers 😉

      It's a decent side. I agree with your Siggy point though. I went for Davis and used the cash to upgrade my 5th mid.

      Thats a solid team.
      Watch for Evans, may be injured, easy switch to Jones.
      Either save that .5 or spend it on Bartley to 4.5 or Marnet to a 5.0, better if you know all players defiantly playing

      hmmm Giroud might not be guaranteed a start. I think you need a chelsea in the front 7 somewhere IMO
