The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      I'm not sure about the Nailed-on-ness of Cameron, I feel there are much better 4.5s out there. Also right now your only option is to play Siggy against United GW1. Maybe consider bringing him in GW2.

    Morning, Once again I can't help tinkering with my team.
    Now I'm concerned that my defense is too weak?

    Cahill Chambers Wisdom (Hutton) (Bartley)
    Eriksen Siggy Hazard Ramsey Mata
    Costa Rooney (Zamora)

    Should I sacrifice a MID to upgrade a few weaker players in defense.
    But if I downgrade a MID, then I'll also need to upgrade Zamora at the same time.
    My thoughts are a 6m MID may do better than than an similar Forward.

    I'll probably WC early again this year to help with team value and grab those in form players.

    Please can I have your thoughts?

    Are you 3-5-2? If so then I think it's ok, tho you'll be benching Siggy GW1. If you're not then downgrade Siggy and put the $ into your defence. You'll never play him over those other guys and that's a lot of cash to have on the bench.

      Join the club.

      I Like B, though there is a lot of debate over your keeper choices. The general thinking now is that 2 rolling 4.5s is the better option.
      Re-think your Hull choices. I really don't know where all this Bruce love is coming from, he's not even nailed on. Also Brady may start GW1, but he's looking like he'll face way less game time this year with increased competition in the Hull mid-field.

      Some expensive choices in Fabianski and Shawcross, may I ask the thinking there? Surely better off with Lovren/Debuchy/Jones? Otherwise a solid team.
      I wouldn't bench Chester over Wisdom GW1, get him out there.

          Double Stoke then- I haven't seen it but could work for you with fixtures. I'm tempted to say downgrade or dump Fabianski, Stoke's fixtures could see you benching him more often than not.

    Young is my punt for early GWs with good fixtures for Utd. I dropped Siggy for him who I decided was too much $ to have on the bench GW1, though I may well bring him back in later.

      I like this, read a few other comments on Young. For me having both Fab and Costa leaves you short of LIV but who knows!

      Liverpool have a tough run of games unless you plan to keep lovren on the bench for 2 weeks straight (GW2,GW3) I'd switch him for a better choice. Also Jovetic is a bit of a risk with the city strikers rotating a lot. other than that looks solid.

        Thanks a lot guys. Yea Young and Jovetic may be early transfers for me once aguero is back, but I'm a true believer in form so I'm ok with that. You've given me something to think about in Lovren, but I can always bring Debuchy back in.

          I actually quite like the defence for now, perhaps consider some alternatives to Jones since Utd is facing some injury/fitness issues atm. Also you have to play Ward against Arsenal GW1, which is not ideal.

            Nah I'll play Jones, Wisdom and Chester GW1 and bench Ward. Not too keen on the other 5.5m options like Debuchy and Lovren, unless I'm convinced otherwise...

      That's looking pretty strong. Not too keen on Vlaar personally with those fixtures, and Eriksen may not be worth it if he's not playing in the hole.

          Not sure there are any other good 4.5m options other than Chester and van Aanholdt. I suppose Vlaar is fine for now (given that he's an assured starter even if his fixtures aren't great), however you could downgrade to a 4.0m defender to raise some funds.

      Too much invested in defense. I would suggest downgrading Mangala to a 4.5 and upgrading Fabregas to Hazard, and Tiote (who is injured btw) to a 5.0 (Davis for SOT maybe).

      I think you can downgrade either Speroni or Green to make 0.5m (I think 9m should be max for keepers). I think Sanchez is a little too risky initially, but he could explode.

        Think he has more chance then Jutkiewitz who is owned by .3% .

        I just think people wont get on the bandwagon of a team like Burnley.Who knows i guess if Bojan goes alright i can do these downgrades then.

    Planning on WC'ing before GW2, so trying to maximize my GW1 points, please RMT?

    I'm thinking of downgrading Ramsey to a 4.5 and use the money to upgrade Green -> DDG, Naughton -> Terry, and bring in another 5.0 defender (probably Caulker). What do you think would harvest the most points?

    RMT my team:
    Begovic, Krul
    Cahill, Jones, Chambers, Baird, Ferdinand
    Sterling, Ramsey, Eriksen, Siggy, Wanyama
    Dzeko, Costa, Rooney

    I know Bego and Krul don't rotate well but Krul covers Bego's difficult fixtures. I want to have chambers for the first week so I can transfer him out for a Crystal Palace defender when it becomes clearer which of their 4.5 options will play.

      Yaya doesn't look like he'll be as big a threat as he was last year, maybe downgrade to hazard/fabregas, Manquillo isn't nailed on, Kolarov is a risk with the rotation in the city back line, Bartley isn't nailed on. Bojan is going to be a huge flop, I reckon getting Fletcher instead,

      I've gone off the Davis wagon despite being one of the first to jump on. Plenty of CM options at Southampton so I'm worried about his starting status. I'd consider dropping Mata for Sterling and upgrading Davis to Young.

        I can't bring myself to drop Mata, I think he could be really powerful in the first part of the season at least. And his fixtures are much better than Sterlings for now. I could bring in Albrighton and use the extra 0.5m to beef up the defence? I don't see Davis figuring for my team most weeks anyway. Maybe this is just one of those 'wait and see' decisions. Really appreciate your comments BTW.

      Not sure Sturridge is value for money and with Terry most likely going to be in and out. For example if terry is out and you replace with Hutton it does not look all that attractive.

      I like the midfield but feel Young will only be nailed for 3 - 4 weeks.

    I've gone for a stronger defence and weaker mid than most. I think both Cahill and Terry offer great value at 6.5m. I like the look of value midfield options more than value striker options.

      Having two Chelski defenders is risky, Would prefer to see another in place of terry (Who I am sure will be rotated and subbed quite often this season) The money would be well spent in midfield. Equally i am not sold on Sturridge.

    Debuchy, Lovren, Vlaar, (Bruce & Yoshida)
    Mata, Sanchez, Fabregas, Sigurdssen (Davis)
    Costa, Rooney, sanogo

    Was thinking about swapping sanogo out for bojan
    Or even swap Davis out for Hoilett.

      Villa defence doesnt appeal, especially their fixtures from GW4. Yoshida unlikely to start after first couple of weeks at least

      Upgrade Sanogo to Fletcher, sanogo will most likely make his appearances off the bench this year, and Fletcher may actually bag you some points. Lovren is a risk for GW2 and GW3 as liverpool have city and spurs back2back, Villa defence isn't going to do well this year, Vlaar did have a good WC but he's not with Van Gaal anymore and I doubt villa will keep many CS this year. Also Debuchy has 2 away games for GW2 and GW3 and 1 is against Everton may concede some goals with Kosc and Merte being unfit. Also switch Bruce to Wisdom as he is nailed on for the first couple game weeks with some WBA defenders out injured

      I reckon Giroud will play an hour then subbed off after Wenger's comments on his fitness

      Giroud should start. He isn't 100% nailed on to start every week though. Might be worth the risk early on though.
