The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

    Hi fellow tormented team pickers,

    allthough im sure i would of changed my mind at least half dozen times by the first reply, i would really appreciate some ratings on this latest group of recruits..... i seem to be coming back to the same majority of the team, i think its got good balance... so far

    I will upgrade Elliot at some point from a sale of...... someone when the start of the season team shuffles have settled down and we know whos first choices, in the mean time ill Bounce Young and Bojan in and out of a 343 and 352 formation

      I reckon a wee bit. Downgrade Debuchy and Clyne for a cheaper rotating pair and upgrade a mid maybe? Good balance though

      You'll need to shift out Chambers after a while but he should be good for a start or two.
      Wisdom likewise, hard to know if he's nailed. Bartley also.
      Like the Coutinho pick, excellent in pre season.
      Exceptional strikers.

    Can you guys RMT please 🙂 Its not a full done team as keep changing but at the moment i currently have....

      Keepers are solid.
      Shaw is a risk, probably won't be starting this weekend. Lovren has sketchy fixtures, I'd wait a while on both him and Shaw really. Not sure if Bruce is starting?
      Johnson could actually do well. Strange pick but a nice change.
      Good strikers if Bojan can keep up.

      I love Baines and think he belongs in every team eventually, I'm just not sure he's a good spend initially with Everton dealing with a lot of fitness issues and a difficult couple fixtures. I might swap him for a Chelsea defensive option initially and then make the switch when things improve for Everton. That's my plan, anyway.

        I largely agree and keep taking him out and putting him back in again. My fear is he could easily get 10 points in the first game playing a promoted side and then his ownership would rise. My front 8 rotate well enough to cover me getting him out after week one for whoever turns out to be the favoured chelsea full back.

          I understand and I'd never vehemently talk a person out of owning Baines. It feels weird even looking at my team without him in there, but I've convinced myself it's the way to go for a few weeks.

            I like to have at least one first choice pen taker in my squad as well. And whilst I've got a couple of first reserves (rooney/costa) Baines is the only one nailed on.

    Version 3.0. My league has a Cup-style tournament in the first two game weeks with extra prize money at stake for the top four finishers from the previous year, so I'm looking to balance my roster with long-term stability and an impactful first two Gameweeks. I'd appreciate any feedback, particularly with regard to what I know to be a weak back line (though I made sure I have a United and Chelsea presence there). Also, I realize Albrighton is dinged, but since I plan to start with him on my bench, I don't want to waste a transfer adding him in a week or two.

        Do you think downgrading Fabregas (9.0) to Eriksen (8.0) and using that 1.0 to upgrade Baird (4.0) to Davies (5.0) is the right move? Maybe Chambers (4.5)? Just not sure how much run I'll get out of Chambers before he heads back to the bench.
