With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

        My changes are Terry -> Cahil (think when Europe KO Terry may get rested in the league)

    how would you rate this?

    I initially had DDG and Myhill but am not massively confident on manu defence at the mo. Also played with Stirling instead of Fab but thing chelski's fixtures are better until a few weeks time

      Yep you have gone crazy. Why dont you downgrade either Guz or Krul to 4m GK which will give you 0.5 to upgrade one of your 4m def. Not liking two 4.5 mids

        Honestly, if I want to upgrade my def, I would have to axe one of the strikers. Just Sturridge to Dzeko or Jovetic would give me plenty of money to fix the def plus mid. But I believe that for the first game week, this will bring in a lot of points (with some minor modifications), and if not, WC.

            None? If all do well, you're looking at 30+10 points there (Rooney captain). Midfield should get 20 and the rest would do well enough to get you to 70.

            Prices will inevitably go up, and when someone flunk, WC! This is really a WC team, just one or two game weeks and then it's gone.

      I'd downgrade any of those defenders and upgrade Silva to Hazard personally.

      6.0 is a lot for a defender who might only score 1 point.
      5.0 is a lot for a QPR defender. He might score the odd goal, but has very little clean sheet potential.
      Hazard has much better fixtures than Silva, will probs be on pens, is more likely to explode, has more captain potential etc.

    Went with Naughton instead of Davies, because he seems nailed on, at least until Walker comes back. I have 0.5 in the bank, not sure if I should do Jovetic>Dzeko or Sterling>Mata - or something else.

      Chambers and Naughton might not even play after the first few game weeks, same with Wisdom. Then you'll be wasting transfers getting rid. You're better just starting with potentially nailed players then using your transfers to get on early bandwagons imo.

          Mutch, even Young. Matic is one of the best midfielders in the league, but he won't score you any points. He'll pick up yellow cards and not get assists or goals. It's the kind of player he is. THat's why he's priced so low.

      He is? That's not what I heard. He seems to be the most likely 3rd defender if Hull play 3 at the back, that's what I heard. With 20% ownership in FPL he is likely to lose some price if he isn't playing, though.

    My first proper RMT so would really welcome a little bit of advice. I have gone for rotating keepers. One premium def and 4 rotating. 3 main mids with 2 rotating and 3 up front:

    Foster Krul
    Cahill Ferdinand Clyne Chester PVA
    Eriksen Mata Ramsey Mutch Davis
    Rooney Costa Dzeko

    Only thing I am worried about is not having Fab/Hazard but have gone for Costa over them as I feel he will be more captainable! Any feedback appreciated. Thank you

      Very solid mate. My suggestion would be to downgrade Davis to Marney and upgrade Mutch to Sigurdsson (and just play him all the time). Based on the size of the bandwagon in these parts he could be the cheap player who overperforms.

      Personally not big on the Mutch Davis rotation. The later isn't as nailed on as we'd like to think and neither will offer you consistent home game returns. I think you'd be better off upgrading Davis.

        Hmm yeah both of you saying the same thing and I was also thinking of going for Siggy & Marney instead of these two. Must look into Davis' possible gametime a bit more before I decide but I do really like Siggy. Mutch could be good too though. Thanks

      Pretty solid throughout, which is something a lot of teams on here (including mine) miss out on because we go for 4.0 defenders and 4.5 mids to maximise starting 11 value. Do Mutch and Davis rotate nicely? Hadn't seen that tactic offered before.

        Yeah I've tried to go for players who are guaranteed starters rather than 4.0 like Moore who might not start or even get any points. They rotate quite beautifully throughout the season mate!

    Think the front 8 are sorted, just need to sort this defence:

    1. Downgrade DDG to Bego and upgrade Luis to Terry?
    2. Get Foster/Krul and do the Terry move?
    3. Any better rotation options than Clyne/Rio?

      Are you playing 3 or 4? New/Sun is another rotation, you can do that for 4.5/4.5. Or you could downgrade Clyne to Yoshida. Whether it's better or not I don't know! I'd pick Azpi over Luis if you're sticking with a 6.0 Chelsea defender though.

      Terry and Sterling, just because Luis might not start every game, especially early on in the season.

      I personally think GJohnson and Hazard would be a better route if you wanted a mid and defender from each team.

      7.0 on a defender who is guaranteed to start every game is insane imo. If you are willing to risk 7.0 on Ivanovic, you'd be better on taking a gamble on Azpi or Luis and using the 1.0 to upgrade Tadic to Sterling/Eriksen/Silva.

      I also agree with downgrading Sanchez to Ramsey and using the extra cash elsewhere, or leaving the 1.0 in the bank for easier transfer routes.

        He's cheap! Plus his preseason means that there's some potential and worth a punt, frees up cash for other players. That's my take on it.

          Its easier to drop from say 8.5 to 5.5 then upgrade elsewhere if he does well though. Instead of having to downgrade elsewhere to upgrade Bojan if he does nothing.
