The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

    Any thoughts?

    Another option would be Zamora, Ramsey & Bruce > Giroud, Albrighton & van Aanholt. But I really fancy Ramsey scoring well. (Zamora/Albrighton would be 3rd bench slot)

      B.Davies i dont think will start and i think manquillo is a good alternative as i reckon that rb spot at liverpool is up for grabs and he could very well be a steal.

            gerrard on penalties yes but no suarez might lead to fewer pens, also he´s gettin a bit old and not forward a lot whereas sterling will be awesome IMO, and no way azpi is more nailed on than cahill.... if i dont miss any new info that is

              Cahill will be rotating with Terry when Luis gets a start right?hmm sold on Sterling over Gerrard though.

                It´s really a tough call but it seems like consensus is that Terry, cahill are nailed with ivanovic, azpi & luis on the wings and once both azpi & luis play ivanovic goes to CB to replace.... one of terry or cahill but due to age I would think terry but that´s anyones guess i think right now

      I think Matic is pointless to have, as he has doesn't attack too much as it isn't his job! Jovetic will fall out of the team most likely when Aguero back, likewise will Chambers when Per is back! Kolarov is also uncertain of his place, I reckon Clichy will get the nod ahead of him, and you don't have a second keeper who is playable?

        Fair, switched Matic to Schneiderlin. I don't mind them falling out the team after a few weeks, both are for team value potential and will likely be in the first 3 transferred out. I disagree on Kolarov, he was made captain for some of preseason and from checking Man City message boards most seem to think he'll start.

        Second keepers are overrated 😛

          Fair dues but changing to Schneiderlin isn't going to help out any better tbh, he is again a defensive midfielder, go with someone who has potential to score goals, well more so than a CDM! E.g. Siggy or Mutch or Nolan etc?

    I know defence is very weak. Will downgrade a mid/forward to a bandwagon early on and use the money to get a better defender (also gives time to assess chelsea defence). I fancy Sanchez against Palace.

    With Pulis's firing, I've dropped Ward and am left with this sorry state of a defense, thinking that Chambers will be transferred no later than Week 3.

    Mata/Ramsey/Eriksen/Henderson/S. Davis
    Sturridge/Rooney/Bony

    .5 in the bank to go Sturridge to Aguero, Bony to Lukaku or Davis to Marney and Mata to Hazard.

    Any thoughts on what feels wrong?

    Any changes needed here. I'll probably change young to 4.5m mid after he's benched in Gw 3/4 and upgrade Fletcher unless he's doing well. Gk def mid all rotate well. Feeling content. Constructive criticism welcome. Outta 10? Thanks.

      nicely balanced I think. I prefer Bojan to Fletcher due mainly to fixtures, and I think there are questions about Bruce's playing time though.

      dangerous to think transfers from the outset. i'd put sigi in straight away and then have a transfer up your sleeve if someone is injured.

      Strong foward line, maybe a td weak in the mids and solid defence.
      I would downrade Dzeko to BOjan etc and upgrade one of cheap mids but thats just my opinion
