Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

25m is too much for def i think.
i would downgrade debuchy to caulker/ward as their fixtures are better than arsenal's bearing in mind that debuchy is a card magnet.
might sound crazy but i don't think united's def looks great at the moment, so ddg to bego will free up money.. also change myhill to another 4.0, his price might drop due to high ownership.
btw fab is playing deeper than we thought, beside matic now that oscar is back.. might want to upgrade to hazard or get silva
          chester to martin kelly 😀

I have 25.5 to spend on my defence. I'm currently opting for double Chelsea coverage at the back but conscious that it means having to have weaker defensive coverage across my other spots. What would you go for...

    1) Terry, Cahill, PVA, 2x 4.0
    2) Terry, Ward, Isla, Clyne, 4.0

Disagree, Evra was a shite defender for the past 3 seasons minimum. We should have replaced a while ago and tried him out at LW instead of buying Young.

    Good evening chaps,

    1st post of the season.

Team done for first three weeks, then wildcard. Adam to Siggy after GW1.

    De Gea (Myhill)
Ivanovic - Debuchy - Wisdom (Bartley - Bruce)
Fabregas - Mata - Eriksen - Adam (Marney)
    Rooney (C) - Costa - Giroud

    0.0 in bank.

    Anything glaringly erroneous here?

Bartley not nailed on, neither is Bruce with the new guy McGuire and if Hull decide not to play 3 at the back.

Ivanovic down to Cahill/Terry and then boost one of the 4.0m defenders
