Sunday presents two further Premier League encounters with a variety of Fantasy heavy-hitters on show.

Events begin at Anfield, with Liverpool starting life without Luis Suarez with an encounter against a Southampton side ravaged by a summer exodus. It’s a fascinating scenario that’s set to feature an-all start case of assets, including Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling – players burdened by big Fantasy ownership and expectation. The Saints, meanwhile, arrive on Merseyside looking to gel quickly after a flurry of new arrivals under the guidance of new boss, Ronald Koeman.

The day concludes at St James’ Park, as Newcastle host champions City. Manuel Pellegrini will likely field a much-changed side to the XI that suffered a Community Shield reverse against Arsenal. Even so, Fantasy investment in the City ranks has been tempered, with Yaya Toure remaining the top target, finding his way into 20% of Fantasy Premier League squads. Like Southampton, Newcastle present us with an array of new signings to assess, making Sunday a vital opportunity to scout talent.

        I wouldn't play either so yes, the guy that's 1m cheaper and doesn't tempt you to bench Siggy is a much better option.

      What are you on about?

      Jovetić had 7 pen area touches, 4 shots, 2 key passes & better than 80% passing average.

      You'll be hard pressed to find better fantasy numbers than that for £8mil sir.

        I never said he was a bad player and the all important fantasy number he got was 2. Next game he'll be on the bench.

            My reason for him being a terrible option is because he won't continue to start.

            He's had 1 game, got 2 points which isn't that surprising as he's never been prolific and is very likely to be on the bench next game. At the same time it wouldn't have been surprising if he did score or assist but the key point is that he was never likely to retain a starting role for more than a week.

              Meh, this all began bc you've said he was a "terrible option" & after his production today that's clearly not the case.

              And, as for the potential he won't start next week, that's why we have free transfers.

                We have 1 free transfer and often need more. An 8m player that isn't a regular goalscorer and is likely to only be first choice for one week is a terrible option.

                    The stats are irrelevant when he was only likely to ever get 1 start, it really is that simple. I won't bother to repeat myself again, feel free to convince yourself otherwise and keep ranting in here.

          The number of points he got this week is inconsequential.
          I'm only worried about the long term...

          Think about it this way, if you're dealt two aces, split them & then bust both hands against the dealer's 15 does that mean you've made a poor play?

          Nope.

          Similarly, if a striker of yours produces 7 pen area touches & 3 shots from inside the box then you've made a great selection fantasy wise.

      After one game us suuuper early in the season though - saw somebody talking about a -8 to get rid of mata for siggy or some such craziness. Gameweek not even over yet!
