The final match of Gameweek 1 arrives this evening as promoted Burnley prepare for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. The Blues are heavily backed heading into this one, with both Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas currently sitting in more than 20% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams, while up front, summer signing Diego Costa will be looking to grab the goals and strengthen his armband credentials ahead of next week’s home encounter with Leicester:

Certainly, the stage is set for Costa to deliver after a disappointing series of displays from a number of forwards over the weekend, where only one (Saido Berahino) managed double-figure returns.

At the back, Jose Mourinho opts for Thibaut Courtois between the sticks, with Petr Cech relegated to the Blues’ bench. The Chelsea manager keeps faith with the familiar defence that earned 18 shut-outs last term, with new boy Filipe Luis amongst the substitutes.

Rooney & Snodgrass (injured) out - Siggy & Fabs in maybe ?

Sky game so no deduction in points to do it, but transfers are limited to 40 for the season. Getting rid of Rooney is the best way to free up cash with minimal transfers (I already have Costa)

Or should I remember it's Burnley they are playing and not get carried away ?

But then I should probably remember it is Leicester next week.

But then again, Rooney scored too this week.

Hmmmm.

It's exactly these sorts of questions that led me to bin this fantasy football nonsense a couple of seasons ago.

    Have you watched the game?? A lack of fpl points doesn't mean he not playing brilliantly. He is sharp because he has completed about 10-15 dribbles some of them very short some of hem beating 5 players.

All this mata to fab talk is silly - mata will only fall 0.1 and has great fixtures. And, doubling up hazard and fab is questionable.
However, to be fair, fabregas is the better player - FPL and real life.

A lot of players tipped on here did well this week. I don't think getting them in is knee jerking. Maybe getting players like Berahino etc. is, but not the others.
