Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

Pick at the buffet via this link, or dash straight to the main course via the handy player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

JWP played as a CM for the England U20's right? he does not have the pace to play on the wing and no wonder koeman is after a winger. That may not be the end of JWP though. Considerin his set pieces and the possible schneiderlin and Townsend + Cash swap deal maybe he'll continue to play in the midfield 3? looks like he's ready for it tbh. Could be a big season for him

they need goals from midfield with Lallana et all gone though. Love Davis but he does not seem to score many goals. JWP was played in the hole too during the latter stages last game and did very well. either way i'd have both(atleast until one is nailed)

if it ever came down to just goal threat davis would play there easily. i actually worry about long, unless he plays right wing i think he's bad for the team (unless they bench pelle)

We haven't had a winger since Punch and he wasn't really a winger. Poch didn't really use them.

Koeman seems to want to though. i dint want JWP cause i thought the new winger would be a threat. then realised JWP is not a winger. Reckon he'll continue to be a regular? considerin swapping YOung for him. Would give me davis and him for a few weeks(davis benched). would then swap the one that aint starting for Henderson/DeJong. Surely one of those 2 will continue to start right?

It's really tricky. I think we've just got to forget the relative priorities from last year as Davies outranked JWP but now we really don't know. I'm at St Mary's this weekend and I can't wait to watch how everyone fits in together. If I'm a gambling man I think this might be the breakthrough season for JWP as he is more a Koeman Man given his set piece delivery. Less tippy tippy footy like we had under Poch (beautiful tho it was) and more direct.

has played cm for england yeah, also fairly sure he made his debut the season southampton came up in the middle 3.
my only opinion on JWP is im fairly sure he got people excited start of last season for his huge amount of crosses per game too, issue was only about 1 in 10 were successful

he probably wont play in the hole, if he does he'll be injured very quickly (etc. coutinho last year)
