Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

Pick at the buffet via this link, or dash straight to the main course via the handy player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Trying to decide about going Jovetic to Bony. Could do now, could wait a week and save my FT and see what happens. Will do it if Jovetic is going to go down but just not sure.

id do it dzeko is clearly the main man playing by kun imo. He was taken off after jovetic last game , he played really well , he is a different kind of striker to aguero and jovetic meaning he complements aguero better than jovetic and his performances to the end end of last season will vindicate him starting now. As well as this bonys next two fixtures ' droool'.

The Swans fixtures are indeed very tempting. Playing Man U week 1 kept me from starting with him and I have always been thinking of getting him week 2.

Would you play Hutton ahead of Chambers this GW?

    Hutton (Newcatle)
    Terry (Leicester)
    Chester (Stoke)

currently my 3 defenders, all at home.

My transfer this week seems very defensive, starting to wonder if I did the right thing

    Mata > Fabregas

Defensive to go with the prices and keep my options open

And defensive to block any more Cesc points from a highly owned player (by good FPL players)

Even though I already have Hazard (and Costa )and still think Hazard will be the better FPL player of the two.

I wouldn't be surprised if I reversed this transfer before long!

Sorry about the 'stream of consciousness' 🙂

MJ I'm jealous. I had the thought for about a week of forgetting Chelsea defense and going with the 3 attackers myself but chickened out because of Chelsea's supposed CS potential and the plethora of other options in midfield.

I think it crossed all Mata's owners minds. I decided to hold out. The transfer goes against many FPL principles that have worked well in the past IMO, but it could very well turn out to be one of the most crucial early transfers of the season. We'll see...

I never said it was a bad move. Could turn out to be brilliant. Avoid one player's stumbling while grabbing another's form. However, Mata has a great chance to score well at the weekend. RvP back in contention, perhaps a fired-up United after an unexpected loss... If he scores well, he'll be a must-have around these parts again, because he's up against the three-promoted teams back-to-back from GW3.

Overloading on Chelsea attack... I would have saved the transfer and given Mata one more chance.
I am keeping the spaniard and the 2FT will help me to get a big hitter like Aguero or RVP if they fire this weekend

I am happy to overload for this weekend to be honest. I just didn't want to miss out on what might be an "essential" player at that price. I can always switch back to Mata if it doesn't work out.

Also, despite not having Cesc, I scored well in GW1 so I didn't feel the need to "chase"

I didn't have him also and happy to be without, I am afraid to kneejerk. United has good fixtures so Mata should do well.
Anyway the fact of having 2FT next week will be handy to go for a big hitter or cover possible injuries, suspensions...

I did it also under the belief that I may bring mata back in next week , maybe for cesc or not, other option was change a defender, but my thought was at best that trade could get me 4 points, but cesc could get double figures again.
I always thought uniteds fixtures weren't that great until week three anyway

      should I play 4-4-2 or 3-4-3

      Bego
      JT Clyne Caulker Chambers Wisdom
      Mata Hazard Ramsey Siggy Mutch
      Costa Rooney Fletcher

      On 3-4-3, Caulker or Chambers?

Is anyone in a league with the poster "Rocketman" or know what league he's in?

I've an old friend who posts on here and I think it may be him. He went to the Olympics and I'm keen to see if he's half as good at fpl. I strongly doubt it 🙂

Yeah but he's being coy. He's in a league with other athletes and I doubt wants me to get too involved as to blow his FFS cover. He's been around the top of the league for years I think.

JWP played as a CM for the England U20's right? he does not have the pace to play on the wing and no wonder koeman is after a winger. That may not be the end of JWP though. Considerin his set pieces and the possible schneiderlin and Townsend + Cash swap deal maybe he'll continue to play in the midfield 3? looks like he's ready for it tbh. Could be a big season for him

they need goals from midfield with Lallana et all gone though. Love Davis but he does not seem to score many goals. JWP was played in the hole too during the latter stages last game and did very well. either way i'd have both(atleast until one is nailed)

Koeman seems to want to though. i dint want JWP cause i thought the new winger would be a threat. then realised JWP is not a winger. Reckon he'll continue to be a regular? considerin swapping YOung for him. Would give me davis and him for a few weeks(davis benched). would then swap the one that aint starting for Henderson/DeJong. Surely one of those 2 will continue to start right?

It's really tricky. I think we've just got to forget the relative priorities from last year as Davies outranked JWP but now we really don't know. I'm at St Mary's this weekend and I can't wait to watch how everyone fits in together. If I'm a gambling man I think this might be the breakthrough season for JWP as he is more a Koeman Man given his set piece delivery. Less tippy tippy footy like we had under Poch (beautiful tho it was) and more direct.

my only opinion on JWP is im fairly sure he got people excited start of last season for his huge amount of crosses per game too, issue was only about 1 in 10 were successful
