The Dugout Discussion – Aston Villa vs Newcastle

The second Gameweek of the season kicks off with one for the neutrals. Even at this fledgling stage in the season, the encounter between Aston Villa and Newcastle looks every inch a mid-table clash, filled with an array of budget and mid-price Fantasy assets which, while unlikely to form mainstays in our squads, still warrant our attention.

There’s certainly potential on show, with both sides fielding budget defensive curiosities in the shape of Alan Hutton and Paul Dummett. Elsewhere, Villa’s Charles N’Zogbia will continue to attempt to revive his top flight career against one of his former clubs, while Newcastle’s fresh cast of talent – notably Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere – will have another attempt our turning our heads in the hunt for differentials.

The early kick-off is followed by a quartet of three o’clock clashes, before Everton host Arsenal in the big evening clash.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          Same number of CS as Stoke last year. And that was without Vlaar for much of the season. And yet evryone was rushing to get Cameron/Huth/Begovic/Wilson pre-season.

      surprising they kept 2 clean sheets - yes. surprised they are solid? no. look at hutton, vlaar, and senderos, all have premier league and international experience and though they aren't top 6 defenders, they have proven themselves as organized and worthy of manning a mid-table back four. not to mention guzan is great, and delph has done a decent job patrolling in front of the back 4. with the addition of sanchez, they'll continue to offer value - especially hutton/guzan, but can't imagine the stretch of clean sheets being exceptional.

      It's quite easy. Pick cheap defenders with good fixtures and hope to get lucky.
