The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Would still have lost my matchup even if I started him over Kap though, so small silver lining there. Lesson learned, though, Romo on the bench this week so cue him to score the most of the three. I am trying to trade Romo though..I can't go on with this dilemma all year I need a crapier third QB so I don't get terrorized by this again.

Sort of tinkered and now fancy a WC... Late night tinkering is bad.

Krul, Coloccini, Wisdom, Jones, Rooney, Naismith ->
Forster, Clyne, Moreno, Debuchy, Balotelli, Welbeck

Mad but oddly tempting. It's amazing how distracting an intact WC can be.

This was my feeling at the start of the season, but arsenal dont look on particularly good form atm, also they are historically horrendous against the "big" teams and i dont believe his assist potential is good enough

    2. Jay_
      11 years, 11 months ago

Not worth it at all , good new players but you don't need to WC, there's only a slight increase of point potential there .

        • 13 Years

You speak sense. I think it's my defence that's bugging me the most and causing tinkering. Must stay strong!

        1. Jay_
          11 years, 11 months ago

Just do Jones >Moreno or Clyne, I've WC ' d and the tinkering is crazy , my transfer history is going to look mad for this week, ps (wish I never wildcarded)

I think mine will happen sooner rather than later but you're right, think I need to stick to the original plan. One hit. Enjoy the comfort of the WC in my back pocket.

No I could have taken a hit and gotten away with it fine, but went nuts and made wholesale changes largely to a team i was tinkering around with during pre-season and nearly went with.

Logically I wouldn't advise wc'ing that lot, but I obviously prefer the second grouping wayyy more than the first. Not much help, haha, but alas!

Likewise, gone for Monreno due to attacking potential but then again ... Lovren has attacking potential too :S! Agreed though it's tough, like someone above said, Lovren faces rotation with Sakho and Skrtel (doubt it though)

top 5 forwards ranked by minutes per chance (minimum 5 attempts) makes for some interesting reading....

Giroud is 2nd with an attempt every 12.17 mins (6 in total) and Sanogo is 4th - 17.38 (8). Welbeck might just be wise investment...

Rest of the list: (total attempts in brackets)

    Kun - 17.00mpa (7)
    Austin - 17.67 (9)
    Balotelli - 12.20 (5)

    1. Walsh

I mean Austin is a good shout. Will only be a better option once Vargas comes into the side, as well. He missed that game so his totals are lessened but he is a definite viable option in that cheap striker bracket. Whether or not he still has pens in his locker after his miss in GW1 is something of interest though.

Just my feeling that Jones and Ramsey will start , Costa will probably be on bench and Jovetic will be on bench

Should I make my Jovetic -> Welbeck transfer now for a -4 hit or wait until the morning to hear Pellegrini say nothing conclusive and risk welbeck going up in price or jovetic dropping..?

    Krul, Elliot
    Cahill, Chester, PVA, Wisdom, Hutton
    Hazard, Ramsey, Mata, Sterling, Sigurdsson
    Rooney, Dzeko, Vaz Te

    1 FT, 1.9 ITB

Seriously considering rolling the dice with Mata for one more week, banking my transfer, and reevaluating for GW4. Reasonable?

He's not right! How do we know Mata will be dropped? we have no indication whatsover so far.
You already have Sterling, if you didn't maybe that would change things.
Good team, saving your FT is a great move.
Dropping Mata before QPR at home is silly (imo of course) many on here think it is THE move this week, I tend not to agree.

I'm not saying he will be dropped, but he's done nothing really to show both based on stats or my personal eye test that he deserves a place in any of our teams at his price tag.

Would it be silly going without Man U coverage, in wake of Sturridge news i fancy Balloteli to do well.

So Falcao/Rooney or Balotteli is the question...?

    1. Jay_

If you have Sterling the only question should be Falcao or Aguero

😀 Quagmire discovering internet porn is a classic.

Have Sterling already, just feel like they are playing better and better fix. Balo will be main striker Falcao will be first competitive game since returning from knee injury and Aguero was coming in in a couple of game weeks if he proves fitness. That was my general thoughts...

        1. Jay_
          11 years, 11 months ago

I completely get your thoughts , Liv have the best fixtures of anybody so your better off with going with your gut , my gut is Falcao and I'm reluctant to change don't know if it's stupidly stubborn or just clever

Me too and already have Moreno and Sterling so its not like I'm not covered but i know more often then not strikers get the big points. Think Villa are missing Vlar this week.

Balotelli looked dangerous vs. Spurs, just lacked that final touch. If you think Rooney will start up front I'd keep him, if not I'd get Balotelli. I'm undecided on Falcao being new to the league and all.
