The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.
-
A) Jovetic and Mata > Fabregas and Balotelli -4
or
B) Jovetic, Mata, Fletcher > Welbeck, Balotelli, a mid for 8.0 or less (likely Tadic) -8
Thanks guys-
B. No WC?
-
As tempting as it may be for me to press that WC button I honestly think my team can fare well enough with just a mere hit or two so i'll try to hold on to that coveted wildcard as long as I can
-
True that. Go for that -8 hit. You will get back those points in no time.
-
Thanks a lot mate, how are you faring this GW?
-
I like my team for this week 😀 except for that one guy sticking out like a sore thumb, i.e Jovetic.
Still with a dilemma though, whether to ditch him for Welbs now, or wait in order to get the new Holy Trinity. your thoughts?-
If you can afford to bench him this week then I don't think its worth a hit but if not, Jovetic > Welbeck looks like a winner
-
My bench is pretty useless this week (Marney Hutton Wisdom) and I got 4 players flagged (Hazard, Costa, Ramsey, Jove).
Aah, head against heart for me all over again. You think I shouldn't be excited about the prospect of having Kun+Falcao+Costa?-
You should definitely be excited at the prospect of a frontline of that fire power, I know I would be. I think if you can get all of them in with the next GW for not too much of a penalty hits wise then you should go for it
-
Cheers man, that's exactly my thinking. But not sure if I can resist the temptation of getting Welbs before Saturday. Good luck to us!
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
B...the Fletcher ---> Welbeck part swings it for me 🙂
-
cheers Ramessi, do you think its worth the 8 point hit?
-
NABIL sums it up pretty nicely 🙂
-
Great, guess that'll be it. You reckon Tadic is the best option under 8 mil?
-
I think Mirallas is the best option under 8 mil, although I'm in the minority on that one...
-
hmm, why do you say Mirallas?
-
He is a proven PL preformer...look at his stats last season and the minutes he played...this time around Deulofeu isnt there to compete with him, so he is more nailed on this season...plays for a better team than Tadic...scored against Chelsea and hit the bar + should have scored against us, i.e. great potential...decent fixtures too
apologies for the formatting-
Oh god I think you may have just convinced me there AR. I was so focused on the fact that Everton's great fixtures start from GW 8 on but i've just checked and from not until GW 8 there should be a good deal of chances for Mirallas to score against leaky opposition. So you know what, maybe Mirallas is the way to go
-
i like this, i also like mirallas
-
Thanks mate, you've been a big help on here recently. Any questions I can answer for you regarding your own team?
-
is this for me or HH?
if me, no im alright...spending as much time as i do on here i get a feel for the consensus on most things...i also like to trust my own instincts...
glad i can be of assistance to a great FPL player 🙂 -
It was more for HH but obviously you too provide some awesome advice and feedback on here that is much appreciated by all on here, not just me. So keep doing what you're doing AR and good luck
-
no problem! i have henderson, and i'm thinking considering keeping him because i really like the way he gets forward at times.. can really see some goals/assists coming in..
+ dont really like the other sub 6.0's, but not sure if hendo is the right guy! -
I think Zaha is a god option in your price range but honestly I don't think a move from Hendo > Zaha is really worth a transfer
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
A looked better in isolation, until I realised you would still be stuck with Fletcher so I am kind of swinging towards B.
Overall I like Tadic in the under 8s category, though Spurs throw up a few options as well. Mirallas is the highest risk highest reward option, won't play all the time but tends to be quite threatening when he does.-
Thanks Zan, its down to Mirallas and Tadic for me, Tadic is due for an explosion with those fixtures and that potential and like you said Mirallas is high risk High Reward but when it does come of with him, the points come all at once to make for a nice score. One to think about more but I think i'm edging toward Mirallas atm
-
-
-
anyone else tempted by falcao?
-
This gw?
Not in the slightest-
no balls... wait
-
-
Very...just not more tempted by him than I am Balo or Kun
-
no, he will be a shadow of his former self imo
*ducks for cover*-
non owner?
-
football follower
-
-
United fan?
dont read into pre-season games too much...united ran riot, we beat city 3-0, sanogo scored a quad, bojan was good...etc-
yeah
Arsenal fan? -
right about preseaon
but Arsenal often took it seriously at Emirates cup
Giroud injured and you only have ItSanoGo-
*had
-
playing lots of youth players + monreal and chambers at cb didnt strike me as taking it seriously...
he may go on to run riot, we i have a hunch he wont do that well (i think di maria will be great fwiw)
-
-
-
-
-
-
BOOM 😆
-
-
why not?
I think he will start, but will be subbed off early at 60min+ -
Huge risk. Could be worth it.
-
Generally I find it is better to give new EPL arrivals time to adjust and there are plenty of other ways to spend 11m
-
-
Jones, Ramsey, Hazard, Jovetic and Foster all in my team and all doubtful.
At least one of them will play, right?! -
What time to price rises occur?
-
30 mins
-
-
Begovic Gilks
Cahill Clyne Coloccini Kelly Wisdom
Mata Ramsey Sigurdsson Ward-Prowse Marney
Costa Sturridge Rooney
Thinking about doing the following for a -8, I'd like some opinions guys.
Sturridge, Mata + Ward-Prowse > Welbeck, Sterling + Hazard/Fábregas.-
taking a -8 and keeping Costa & Ramsey is stark raving bonkers
-
Haven't been on much. What's happening with them? Thought they were ok?
-
they may well be but don't do anything until we know for sure
-
I'm not going to do it until Saturday morning.
-
that's ok then
🙂
-
-
-
-
-
Balo, Sterling, Cesc may worth it.
Hazard is still flagged? could be rested for Champions League game, Remy debut -
They look like good moves to me. Do it.
-
Cheers Ryan.
-
Sometimes its worth spending points for a proper clean out. This is one of those occasions.
-
-
-
Great moves. Get Hazard.
-
Assuming sturridge confirmed out and Ramsey / Costa confirmed fit then I like it. Need further news on all 3 to confirm though
-
-
Who would you guys bench out of this front 8?
Ramsey - Sterling - Cesc - Tadic - Siggy
Aguero - Naismith - Welbeck
Currently on Welbeck (right?) but also considering being crazy and risking benching Siggy or Ramsey...-
ouch.....Naismith
-
Welbeck (MCI) vs Naismith (wba)...
Both on form, City have a much better defence than West Brom though.. Tis a tough one.
The fact that I also have Ramsey and I fancy City to beat Arsenal or draw in a low scoring game...
-
-
Siggy is what the percentages say...
-
Siggy
-
Even with Mourinho hailing Chelsea's new attacking style of play and Swansea/Siggy's great form?
Or is that just Mourinho mind games and he's actually going to set up defensively solid in response to shipping 3 in the last game.. He'll surely be targeting Siggy, he's smart enough to know how vital he is to Swansea.-
Not much about Siggy anyways, just that it'd be hard to bench the rest of your players.
Siggy might play no. 10 again like he did at OT, and I know he has the potnetial to punish all his doubters again lol. But I think CHE defence is a different beast at home, plus I got JT (might be bias here), so I think siggy should be your chice. I'm playing him anyway 😛-
Siggy on the bench it is, thanks NABIL 😀
-
-
-
-
Naismith, not ideal against WBA though
-
Siggy
-
That is exactly my midfield 🙂
My front line is Rooney-Costa-Naismith. Siggy/Tadic/Naismith rotate really well in the next few weeks so one of them will be sitting, this time it'll be Siggy. I would rest Welbeck against City if I were you though.
-
-
Have 2 ft but no idea what to do
Foster* (Krul)
Terry Jones* Caulker (Moore Naylor)
Mata Rambo* Eriksen Siggy (Marney)
Jovetic* Costa* Rooney
A) Jones and Jovetic - Clyne/Moreno and Pelle/Welbeck
B) A + Mata - Sterling -4
C) WC
Thanks-
A - Clyne & Welb
then wait for news on Rambo -
B, you need Sterling. Can do it with Rambo over Mata if Rambo out for a few weeks though that does not sound likely
-
-
first and last time asking for today..
A. Jove -> Welbeck
B. Jove -> Kun & Hazard -> 6.2 (Hendo/Dyer) (-4)-
A
-
A.
-
How would you feel about a Chadli thrown in there at 6.1? Although Dyer/Hendo look good too.
I would personally go for B anyway..
Who are your other forwards?-
Forgot about Chadli, hmm interesting pick. If only we can be certain about his "nailedonness".
Roo and DC.
If I go B I'm taking the route of Holy Trinity 2.0 😉-
Roo -> Jovetic down the line could be a nice way to fix any problems that come up in your team, and you can afford to wait a few weeks as Welbeck has horrid fixtures and Rooney has good fixtures..
In any case, I like B. Aguero is being seriously overlooked around here and he'll pick up more attention soon enough 😉 He's fit at least..-
Yeah, and in prettyform too (very clinical and lively against the Germans the other day). Thanks teammate 😀
-
No problemo teammate 😀
I understand the difficulty of removing someone like Hazard from the team, but I would much prefer Kun to an under-performing Hazard.
-
-
Yeah, and in pretty form too (very clinical and lively against the Germans the other day). Thanks teammate 😀
-
-
-
-
oops.. I forgot o add option C. Save the FT
Thanks both of you. -
A
-
double up Arsenal eh? What happen when Wally returns?
-
triple up! 😉
he wont return for another 2-3 gws at least, and by then things will be completely different...no need to worry about things so far in the future 🙂-
Hmm, indeed. I've been hanging onto Hazard for his explosiveness and easy route to get Wally when the time comes, but it looks like he's sharing points this year.
Wally, otoh, is a different beast altogether. Might play up top for us until Christmas. Can;t wait for it 😀
-
-
-
-
B. But consider Chadlii as an option too.
-
same thoughts with IM above. Cheers you two.
-
-
B, go on live a little 🙂
-
Thaaat's the spirit! 😀 But the thought of losing Hazard is pretty depressing too 🙁
-
-
-
The RMT tool suggests Siggurdson should be my second sub behind PVA, didn't expect that.
Also, Sterling captain over Costa? Thats what I had anyway and RMT tool seems to agree. If you are a member I suggest you check your team against the RMT tool to see if you can come up with the correct lineup statistically.
DDG
Ivan, Chester, Kelly
Ramsey, Sterling c, Lamela, Zaha
Aguero, Costa, Naismith
Subs: Siggy, PVA, Dummett-
Good team Ryan. Not sold on Zaha yet but it's a very worthy punt.
Toss of coin between the two for captaincy. Have it with Sterling atm. -
I'd captain Sterling. What do you think about my possible transfers a few posts up?
-
Answered
-
-
i agree with your instincts...looks good 🙂
-
I couldn't believe PVA was ahead of Siggy in the RMT tool, bad fixture, and he's a defender. There was only 0.1 pts in it though so nothing in it.
-
-
I'm on Sterling currently.
Agree Siggy point potential significantly blunted away to Chelsea but behind PVA is a bit much. Can't see PVA getting much out the Spurs game.
I'd play it as you have -
I would be very scared with Siggy on my bench. If Swansea manage a goal, which I think is likely, he will be involved
-
I wouldnt pay much atterntion to rmt
-
I dunno, its always dodgy in the early weeks but it gets better every week with more information available. I only use it occasionally to get a second opinion, one that is informed.
-
-
See I don't think it is likely. At home Chelsea are a fortress and there will be lessons learned from the Everton game. Mourinho wasn't happy.
-
Im benching Siggi it either him or welbeck
-
It start Welbeck, unless you think Wenger would ease him into action.
-
*I'd
-
-
-
-
-
Captain Sterling? Me too.
Who would you start also, Moore or PVA?
-
-
Has Falcao got work permit yet?
-
No
-
Hmm, only 2 days to go...
-
-
-
I'm in a draft-style league and my defense is a mess.
Begovic (sub: DDG)
Ivanovic / Vertonghen / Shaw (subs: Rojo / Chambers / Kolarov / GJohnson)
Did I get my starters and subs right?-
Your defence is awesome
I'd love a back 3 of Ivan, Vert and Kolorov
-
-
Any Spurs fans have an idea of when Soldado will be back OR if Adebayor is not locked for 90 this week due to his International appearance? Thanks
-
Adebayor is #1 and will start pretty much all games for the forseeable imo.
Soldado fitness is irrelevant to that-
Cheers mayte! Have gone Dzeko to Adebayor
-
-
-
Anyone wanna give me some thoughts above thanks
-
Any price changes yet? go Clyne go
-
15 mins away
-
12 minutes to go bud
-
any other suspects?
-
Moreno and Welbeck
-
thanks Trigger
-
-
-
Should I just got ahead and scrap Hutton for Clyne? He aint rising again, is he?
Also worried about di Maria. May get rid of Schneiderlin for him.-
hutton might, you never know
-
would like to see some of those i got rid of actually fall in price, but given up hope
-
Naylor>Clyne done. Can worry about Naylor later. Not totally sold anyway.
-
-
I'd do Hutton -> Clyne/Bertrand now if it was me
-
-
-
Got a few injuries to await news first but if Costa / Ramsey look good to go then I am thinking of taking one hit to get rid of Ince from my poisoned chalice 4th mf spot
Options are
a) Siggy (-4), use FT somewhere else next week
b) Tadic/Mirallas/Chadli (-4), use FT to do Mata > Siggy next week
c) Do nothing, hope for the best with Ince this week, deal with it next week
Thoughts?
Krul, Foster
Baines, Cahill, PVA (Wisdom, Hutton)
Ramsey, Mata, Sterling, Ince (Wanyama)
Costa, Rooney, Naismith
0ft 2.2m-
I'd be inclined to sit on it for a week than make the right call next week with more information.
-
So C)
-
-
Dont see much point getting siggy in for a hit this week. Mirallas or Tadic though might be worth it in the long run
-
-
Balotelli or Rooney? Bearing in mind I already have sterling, Moreno and no utd players.
-
Well i'm getting Balo for a hit and captaining him so i'd say the Italian
-
-
Dont think the captains poll very reliable this week. Most of the votes were in over a week ago before Costa was injured, and before Rooney played well against switxerland
-
Costa will start anyway. So I think its still relevant. Rooney's form is appalling and I wouldn't let a single international fixture cloud that too much.
-
Rooney was quite decent against Burnley despite what the overreactionists in the media right are on about right now.
-
I'm far removed from the british media as I'm on the other side of the world. Having watched every United game this season Rooney doesn't look like an FPL magnet.
-
The movement around him from Chicharito, RVP and Mata has been absolutely dire. He can't do it on his own.
-
I'm speaking purely from an FPL perspective. He's not likely to get points at this rate.
-
Oh I know and I get what you're saying. But surely you expect him to improve with Herrera, di Maria and Falcao coming into the team?
-
I'd need to see it working first.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Which of these look the best?
A. Eriksen -> Tadic
B. Eriksen & Ramsey -> Fabregas & Tadic. 4 point hit
C. Eriksen & Rooney -> Tadic & Costa. 4 point hit -
Jovetic>Welbs now or wait on further jove news ?
-
now imo...welbz may rise tonight, jove may drop
-
Before the whole price rise/fall thing wen mental FISO got risers at around 114% Suggests Welbeck and Moreno. Clyne close. Could be totally wrong but thats my guess with the info we have
-
Price aside. Dont care that much on 0.2m lost.
Whether or not jove is ok to start is the priority.-
Long term Welbeck over Jove is a good move
-
Welbeck has risen, Jovetic didnt drop...now its best to wait for more news
-
No biggy already did Jove>,Welbs
-
-
-
-
-
Only worry i have with Welbeck is the rumour circulating that Wenger didnt actually want him, and the board went over his head and bought him in, while he was in italy for his charity match
-
absolute bollocks imo...he will eulogise about welbeck in the presser
-
If I was on my WC I wouldn't put Welbeck in my team. The doubts you mention and the tough early fixtures is more than enough to put me off.
-
They'll surely be going overboard in expecting him to play as well then.
-
Didnt hear that. Doesnt sound very Arsenal like given Arsenes dealings in the transfer window before. Regardless, i think hes the best option they have there at the minute unless they push Sanchez up. Sanogo is woeful
-
I think Sanchez will get another chance up front this weekend. Its always risky getting a new signing straight away.
-
If it were any other team maybe. Wegner basically said Sanchez isnt up to the physicality of playing up top in the PL just yet and City are quite an imposing team. That and his brace midweek makes be think Welbeck will play.
-
-
-
-
Would you trade Mata out for a -4 if you already had Sterling?
-
Who would you be trading him for? And I'm holding Mata for this week to see how Manure Utd lineup
-
Probably Fabregas
-
Mata v QPR, Fab v SWA.... I think that can wait for your FT next week personally mate
-
Cheers. Was the plan, but this talk of him being left out made me wonder if Fab could outscore him by 4 this week. Will stick.
-
-
-
-
-
Is Zaha really nailed on to start?
-
he isnt nailed, but should start this week
-
Who misses out if mata starts?
-
Reply fail sorry guys
-
-
-
He's their prodigal son. Nailed on once he gets his first start imo. I expect him to start this weekend.
-
-
Welbeck rises
Moreno doesn't-
Welbs 😀
-
Cheers Katie.
-
-
Riser: Welbeck
Fallers: F Campbell Bacuna Ledley C Ward Besic -
Risers: Welbeck
Fallers: Campbell(CP) Bacuna Ledley Ward(STK) Besic-
LOL@Besic
-
lol@ 😀
-
-
-
Moring guys.
NZ-DZ. Please check your mail.-
morning BL 🙂
cheers -
Can't see anything BL, jst chat about a WC team... is there another thread?
-
-
When choosing between two defenders from the same team - eg. Lovren and Moreno - does anyone consider how important each one is to securing a clean sheet. I would rather have Lovren because there isn't much to choose between them fantasy-wise but if I had Moreno and Liverpool rested Lovren I reckon my clean sheet potential is seriously dented, whereas if I had Lovren and they rested Moreno for Jon Flanagan, I'd say it has probably increased the chance of clean sheet points. Dicuss...
-
interesting idea...
-
never looked at it this way.. clever insight!
-
-
Poldi's fit yeah? Many on here forgot about him ? He might start ahead of Welbs?
-
no chance unfortunately
-
And may i know why mr wenger?
-
I would guess the last match vs Leicester shows why. No Giroud, No Welbeck yet, Sanchez in previous game vs EVE looked lost up top, Sanogo had been Sanogo and still Podolski didnt get the spot
-
im not mr wenger 😉
podolski isnt a striker, wenger has very little faith in him these days...welbeck sanogo and sanchez are all more likely to start up front than podolski
-
-
-
-
Do we have any idea about how the system of price rises/falls is working now?
-
*works now
-
Surely not. It's a bloody mystery. How Moreno has managed to stay put is anyone's guess.
-
Simple...he's mainly being bought by WCers
-
-
-
McGeady or Zaha?
-
Zaha
-
I still have Bojan in my team.:(....Should i ship him out this week or wait ...I don't mind waiting but i doubt his place in the starting XI.. idk what to do!!!!
-
