As we revealed in the middle of last week, Fantasy iTeam (FiT) is one of the first games to launch for the upcoming Champions League campaign. Having supported their popular World Cup game, we’ve joined forces again to cover Europe’s elite club competition as Real Madrid attempt to reclaim their crown under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.

A free Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android. It’s free to download and play, so you can already go in and start drafting up your starting XI with unlimited transfers.

We’ll be supporting FiT throughout the competition and have an official Fantasy Football Scout League, with an iPad mini available to the winner. There’s also a VIP European Match Day Experience for two on offer for the overall winner of the Fantasy iTeam Champions League game.

Having rolled out a Rule Guide last week, we now turn our attentions to the player price list and scour the market in an attempt to dig up some budget gems for your perusal. Setting the ceiling at 5.5 for defenders, 7.0 for midfielders and 8.0 for strikers, we take a closer look at some of the better value options across the outfield positions.

Defenders

Bayer Leverkusen’s Tin Jedvaj is available for just 5.3 in the Fantasy iTeam game. The youngster looks to have nailed down a starting role for the German outfit, and although he’s been handed a fairly tricky batch of Group C opponents, with matches against Benfica, Monaco and Zenit, he offers points potential at both ends of the pitch and has already opened his league account for the Bundesliga leaders.

Chancel Mbemba of Anderlecht has been priced at 5.4. The young centre-half caries a real goal threat from the back and has already scored five times in 40 appearances for the Belgian outfit – his attacking threat will be key as he squares up to Arsenal, Dortmund and Galatasaray.

APOEL right-back Mario Sergio has a share of set-pieces and corners for the Greek outfit and has notched five times in 60 matches since joining up in 2012. Coming in at a mere 5.0, he faces a tricky trio of group opponents, with matches against Barcelona, Ajax and PSG.

Benfica’s new left-back Eliseu is also worth considering. The versatile Brazilian – who can also play as a winger – netted nine times for former club Malaga before signing for the Portuguese outfit in the summer and comes in at 5.5.

If you’re on the lookout for a cut-price enabler, Junior Caicara of Bulgarian side Ludogorets will take up a mere 5.0 of your Fantasy iTeam budget. Showdowns with Liverpool and Real Madrid look testing, though a couple of encounters with FC Basel mean he could offer good value.

Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao look great value throughout the classifications. Mikel San Jose is arguably the most enticing option at the back – available for just 5.3, he scored five times in La Liga last term and is set to face Porto, BATE Borisov and Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stages.

Midfielders

Porto’s new midfielder Yacine Brahimi is available for 5.5 in the Fantasy iTeam game. The Algerian international has already made an impact since joining in the summer and has served up a goal and assist in four appearances.

Atletico Madrid’s new signing Antoine Griezmann comes in at a relatively budget-friendly 6.7. Having served up 16 goals for Real Sociedad in 2013/14, he’s mainly been fielded in “the hole” for the Spanish champions and will fancy his chances in a group that includes Olympiacos and Malmo, as well as Juventus.

Karim Bellarabi affords us an in-form option at German side Bayer Leverkusen. Setting you back just 5.1, he’s already grabbed two goals and a pair of assists in two league appearances this season and helped his side rise to the top of the Bundesliga – his raids down the right could be key to Leverkusen’s chances of progress in Group B.

Iker Muniain comes in at a mere 5.0 for Athletic Bilbao. The young winger has already found the net in one of the opening two league matches and looks poised to continue the form that saw him grab seven goals and a trio of assists in La Liga last time around.

Shinji Kagawa will set you back just 5.9 after returning to German side Dortmund. The Japan international is very favourably priced compared to most of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team but has the potential to be a real bargain option if he returns to the form that brought 13 goals and 12 assists in his final league campaign with the German outfit.

Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle is available for a mere 6.6 as Jose Mourinho’s men prepare for a very enticing set of opponents. Given that the Blues face Maribor, Schalke and Sporting Lisbon, the German could well be set to continue the form that has already harvested a pair of goals for club and country over the last few weeks.

Available for just 6.8, Raheem Sterling’s contribution looks key to Liverpool’s progress. Granted, a pair of fixtures against defending champions Real Madrid is no easy task, but with Ludogorets and Basel also in their group, Brendan Rodgers’ side will surely fancy their chances of progressing – with two goals in his first three league outings, Sterling’s price looks a real bargain in the Fantasy iTeam game.

Schalke’s summer signing Sidney Sam is another kindly priced option with an eye for goal. Costing you 6.4 in Fantasy iTeam, the German international grabbed eight goals and seven assists for former club Leverkusen in last season’s Bundesliga and may well profit from the matches with Maribor and Sporting.

Forwards

Leverkusen’s Stefan Kiessling is available for just 7.8 in the Fantasy iTeam game. Fielded as the lone forward in a 4-2-3-1, he’s notched in three of his last four appearances for the Bundesliga leaders and his excellent form continues to keep summer signing Josip Drmic on the bench.

A move from United to Arsenal brings Danny Welbeck to prominence. Yet to feature for the Gunners since his deadline day move, Welbeck has already notched twice for England, and with Olivier Giroud injured, looks a secure starter – available for 7.9, he could be vital for Arsene Wenger’s side as they look to navigate a tricky Group A which also includes Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht.

Once again, Spanish club Athletic Bilbao are worthy of our consideration due to some very kind pricing. Aritz Aduriz is available for just 6.8 and, like Muniain, has already netted in La Liga this season – indeed, a total of 30 goals over the last two league seasons is indicative of his predatory nature and suggests that he could be a real bargain.

Anderlecht’s Aleksandar Mitrovic is another forward in excellent form. Available for 6.6, he netted 16 times in 32 league matches in 2013/14 and has followed that up with four strikes in six matches so far – if the Belgians are to somehow make it out of the group stages, they’ll be heavily reliant on their teenage sensation.

Three goals in his first four league appearances of 2014/15 underlines the credentials of Porto’s Jackson Martinez. Coming in at 7.7, he’s now netted 50 times in 63 league matches for the Portuguese outfit and has a plum home clash with BATE Borisov to get his Champions League campaign up and running.

Shakhtar’s Luiz Adriano also comes in under the 8.0-mark. The Brazilian fired 20 league goals in just 25 appearances in the last league campaign and has been quick to rediscover his predatory instincts, netting once in two league outings thus far – coming in at just 7.8, he looks another option to consider for Fantasy managers shopping on a budget up front.

He's 4.1 though, which effectively makes him a 4.5 Def unless you have 0.1 going spare.

Looks like what I'd pick, apart from Taylor instead of Pva, and Lamela for Ramsey. I think Lovren is the better long-term pick over Moreno too.

I did. But had to try to swing it on my phone as I was out. Was a nightmare. Great first four picks(Roon, Yaya, Welbeck, Baines) but then it went haywire and took Giroud for me on auto. And as you had already taken Larsson and a GK, amongst others who were also on autopilot, I decided it was pretty much pointless.

Maybe the treshold is lower for higher rated players. He hasn't played a single game yet bar 10 mins against Everton so the new algorithm might be factoring in game time with a big weighting on form.

In anycase, if Azpi or Ivan get injured anytime soon the floodgates are gonna open massively in Luis' directiong. Hopefully he can fall another 0.1 to make his price a more practical 5.5 though.

I don't think having a Chelsea Def is essential, yet. They've only kept 1 CS so far, and other defenders like Lovren, Moreno, Clyne, and Shawcross have offered better value than Cahill and Terry at least. Ivanovic is the exception, but only because he's scored off a corner and scored from an offside.

    Hey All,
Balotelli at 10.0 seems a regular consideration for the majority of sides on WC.

Is anyone considering a Liverpool MID double-up with Sterling/Gerard combo instead of Balotelli. Gerard at 8.9 - looks a great option at the price?

Personally, still deliberating on whether or not to pull the WC trigger...but my hand might be forced depending on Jovetic, Ramsey etc injuries.

          Thanks for sharing.

I'm keen on Henderson, but the draw of Lovren/Moreno, Sterling, Gerrard, and Sturridge/Balotelli is really strong. I don't think he'd get many BPS either, at least not yet. Could soon become essential if he starts scoring goals to go with his assists though.

I cant see Liverpool getting so many pens without Suarez and also Sturridge not available for now and Gerrard is useless without that.

I'd be interested to know how many of the pens last season were won by Suarez. 'Pool still have plenty of players that can win a pen, even joe Allen got one last game. Not sure your comment is that valid re Gerrard.

Well without Suarez they are worse off for sure and the 12 pens last season was almost double the normal average in the league. There will be a dropoff for sure

Gerrard's last season was his best season since 2007-2010 period. You'd anticipate his returns to diminish with Suarez's departure, but surely there's enough pedigree there to consider in terms of FPL, especially at 8.9?

      You're kidding yourself then.

If they had been bought preseason with a few weeks to prepare maybe. It will take a bit of time to settle in and make the side work. I don't disagree with him having an opinion but Wellbeck did not deserve it to be said in public.

Maybe. Maybe not. Even if it takes a few weeks to properly kick off we'll be massively improved come season's end. No doubt about it.

And I find it funny that most would laugh off such comments from Mourinho when he learned his game from LVG in the first place.

Very well could be. I for one rate him but his finishing has to improve, which is exactly what LVG was referring to. The fact that we've brought the most clinical striker in Europe in while Arsenal is content to hope with Welbeck says it all really.

Because Lallana (who's role Tadic is essentially replacing) didn't outscore a similarly massive signing in Ozil last season. Hmmm.

Don't really see how Ozil is shit though. Just not an outstanding fpl pick as he's an assists > goals type player. I see Di Maria as being a similar style of player too.

He's shit because he's a luxury player who refuses to work for the team. Sure, he's gifted. But his attitude is putrid. Should be nowhere near a "top" team. But then Wenger's never been much of a man manager/assessor.

tough one but would prob go with ADM. Tadic good option as well and frees up some cash. Keeping Ramsey not bad either. always capable of bringing in points in spite of tough fixtures. As I said, tough one for me and I don't understand Muppets comments either

I am on a WC, made the move of Ramsey to ADM a couple of days ago. Tough call, but it's Ramsey's fixtures that allowed me to make the decision.

I'll more than likely get Ramsey back GW 8 or so.

Is Dummett out of the mix at Newcastle now? If so, who's taking his spot? I don't see why he'd be replaced by anyone on the current roster unless I'm missing something like they are going to a 3-5-2. Thanks.....

    Balo, Rooney, Ade

    0.5m itb
    Thoughts?

I've missed Costa boat and don't want to bring him in when he's doubtful and just gone up in price.

      - Lovren is a better pick than Moreno imo, despite the potential price changes
      - Rest of defense is solid, though I'd have Wilson over PVA
      - mirallas no thanks. prefer Tadic
      - ADM overrated. Better to stick with Fab or Ramsey
      - best 5.0 is jwp. 5.5 range is dyer
      - costa is still underrated at 10.7, and you can afford him. worth it over rooney imo

tadic is a good shout but unproven so far, mirallas on free kicks

Those on WC, has Man Utd coverage become an afterthought in light of their start to the season? Or have some decided to give Rooney another week and/or perhaps look to bring in Di Maria if on WC?

Yes, stick with Rooney. I expect Falcao to start. But it's tough to predict how we'll look right now. I'm sheepish about Rojo/Blackett because I seriously think Falcao/Rooney/AdM may become essential.

If Rooney plays as the No.10 he's surely better value than ADM? I can't see ADM getting as many FPL points playing so deep. If he were playing on the wing in a 433 like he does for argentina it would be a different story though..

I'm holding on to Rooney for this weekend, but if he fails again I'm selling him for Balotelli immediately. In fact, even if he scores a hattrick I'd probably sell him (after riding his rise back to 10.5) as I don't fancy him at Leicester.

Man United are just such an unknown entity right now ... they are fantastic on paper but have done nothing to give punters any hope. ADM was obviously very spritely against Burnley, and with Rojo, Blind, Falcao onboard and with Herrara returning from injury they look too good to not consider. I'd feel 100 times more comfortable if they had started banging in goals though.

ADM in my WC team, but I'm not 100% convinced!

ADM - That's who I've got earmarked as well Test Eagles. However, I've still held on to Mata & Rooney since GW1. Way too long, I suppose. I'll probably go with ADM as solo United coverage with a WC this GW though

Yep I reckon Rooney will come good especially playing as a 10 when he replaces mata. ADM is a punt but the fixtures are there the next few weeks. I've got both and I'm on a wc.

You bast*rd! Haha, as a fellow red I'm disappointed. I have Rooney but to have TWO united players?! Shame on you!

Lol, I can see the logic in Rooney + ADM, but I think its best to steer clear of anyone other than Rooney for the time being given the uncertainty in that lineup. Rooney as their captain is virtually the only certainty.

    Pieters / Lovren / Chambers / Tayor / Wisdom

    Aguero / Costa / Adebayor

The austrian league isn't exactly known for its quality defending, especially not when a team like salzburg score 29 goals in 4-5 games. Most of those goals would never happen in the PL against better defences.

I'm struggling to think of someone to compare him to, but the names in my head atm are left-sided versions of Zaha, Lennon, and Shawn-Wright-Philips (and thats not a good thing)

This is why its always advisable to have at least 1 decent bench option.

I'd only do one trade but after than just go with Marney at Palace.

You could do worse than Pelle, though a hit would require him to score or assist to make it worth it... Shame that literally all the 7.5-9.0 strikers are injured or out of form (bony, giroud, lukaku, jovetic). Not much to pick from really, so you might just be better off going for Naismith in the meantime, unless you fancy Welbeck against City, Spurs and Chelsea in the next 4 games.

Use 1ft one the forward line, and the other on Debuchy>Lovren and that team instantly looks much better, and at only a -4 hit.

I'm playing Caulker at United btw, i think its a solid move with how they defend set pieces.
