Hey DZ. Thoughts on this UCL team?

    Leno (3.5)
Ivanovic / Sokratis / Moreno (Balenziaga / Spahić)
Sterling / Kagawa / Iturraspe / ÇalhanoÄŸlu (Brahimi)
    Messi (c) / Schürrle / Martinez

But I do know that Moreno is exceptionally poor value.

I really don't like the sacrifices required to get both Messi and Ronaldo in. I had Kroos in most of my draft teams, now I'm just hoping that Real are in the process of imploding in the wake of locker room drama and a derby loss. We'll see how it goes.

    Hi guys,

    May i have your opinion?

    Bego (McCarty)

    Janmaat Chester Clyne

Di Maria Fab Ramsey Sterling (Zaha)

    Ballotelli Naismith Costa

Will This be a good move for this week?

    Naismith & Ramsey -> Pelle & Wilshere (take a hit -4)

    Thanks a lot!

If I were to wildcard this week, I'd go for something like this:

    Krul-Elliot
    Baines-Ivanovic-Hutton-Moore-Duff
    Fabregas-Di Maria-Sanchez-Sigurdsson-Marney
    Costa-Welbeck-Pelle

But I won't 🙂 so the team stays mostly like this:

    Krul-Elliot
    Terry-Lovren-Chambers-Hutton-Moore
    Silva-Mata-Ramsey-Sigurdsson-Wanyama
    Costa-Pelle-Rooney

    Thinking of:

    A) Terry=>Baines
    B) Mata=>Sterling

    Any comments?

For those of you that are too young to remember, MOTD2 was a journey into the past this week. In the late 90s nearly all the games were played on a Saturday 3pm. The odd game on a Sunday. No 12;45, no 5:30 and very rarely MNF.

So with usually 8-9 games on a Saturday at 3pm how did BBC distribute the games? Half the show dedicated to Man United with the rest of the league sharing the other half.

    Care to rate my team?

    DDG - Gilks

    Cahill - PVA - Bertandt - Naylor - Wisdom

    Hazard - Ramsey - Sterling - Siggy - Puncheon

    Costa - Rooney - Naismith

    0.2 ITB, 2 FTs

    Thoughts:

    - Rooney has bought at least another week in my team while I downgrade elsewhere to free up money for investing up-front. In the long-term I want Costa, Wellbeck plus one other premium striker

    - Hazard, Cahill and maybe Puncheon are three players I'm thinking of shifting.

    - I'm happy enough that Hazard will come good but considering he is supposed to be a "flat-track bully", I'm thinking there may be better value elsewhere considering he has City and United away plus Arsenal at home in the next 5. A sideways move to Fabregas seems pointless

    - Cahill - Chelsea in the past have been known to tighten up for big games...but I'm still not sure this is reason enough to keep Cahill when I can save 1.5-2m getting the right player to rotate with my 4 exisiting defenders and get 3 out a week with a decent chance of a clean sheet.

    - Puncheon would go for a cheap 5th mid, freeing up over a million. A shame really, since I think he's offered exactly what I expected, but he doesn't have a straight-forward run of games and at the moment I'm forced to bench either Naismith or at least 6m in midfield.

Who should I target in defence?
Who, if anyone, should I replace Hazard with?
Who is the 5th mid of choice?

    1. zencro 42
      • 12 Years
      11 years, 7 months ago

I have Cahill & Hazard too. I'm also thinking of getting Cahill out but probably after their tough games ironically because of what you said about Chelsea tightening up in the big games.

Hazard, so frustrating right now, he is like on god-mode but no FPL points. I would keep him unless you have money issues.

    2. Jafalad
      • 16 Years
      11 years, 7 months ago

Defence - you need to make a decision on CHS's defence. If you feel the cs potential has gone, remove Cahill.

      Hazard - Fabregas.

Get a 4.5 cheapie and never play them. You only need 11-12 squad players at this stage of the season.

    3. Venom Snake
      • 12 Years

I reckon use your two FTs to downgrade Cahill and puncheon to save coin and leave it spare for next week

I would do the Hazard to Fab move to save some coin. Fab is consistently picking up points and I think you might regret that. The fixtures aren't great though so you could go with Chadli instead if you wanted (I'm not sure about DI Maria yet).

Cheers for the idea so far. Confirming what I thought. What about just downgrading Cahill this week, benching Puncheon (eve) or Hazard (mci) and having 2 FTs next week? Ideas for a cheap defender? Worth doubling on Southampton? I don't fancy Stoke and I'm not really sold on Liveprool's defence yet, although Moreno could offer value with his added attacking threat

Ivanovic, Baines and Bertrand would the replacements I'd consider. Ivanovic>Baines, IMO.

I'd keep Hazard for now, but if you wish to replace him : Chadli or Mirallas, or even ADM/Sanchez.

Looks like Boyd ATM. Or Cork if he maintains his spot in the starting XI ( Check with Lucy )

Keeping Hazard looks like the best op, not many standout midfield options ATM, IMO. At least not stand out enough to warrant a transfer in for Hazard.

I have Bertand, not looking at Baines, also not looking to invest more in defence unless I can downgrade in midfield, maybe to Chadli as Toast suggested (just double-checked his stats and I'm impressed).

      - Rooney is a good long term prospect. United looked a lot better with a new formation and a new midfield. Rooney is the best option in the United attack I believe. Keep long term.

      - All 3 should probably go. I'd consider Fabregas, Chadlii and Baines if you can afford it.

Of course this is standard FFS advice.

Really I think Naismith should go at some point for a better striker. Hazard could stay and Baines isn't an amazing option till GW8 at least.

I think you should consider making room for Aguero soon enough but I don't think you should sacrifice Rooney to get him.

In response to Triggerlips post earlier regarding the 3 scenarios.

    1. Because of Costa's injury I didn't captain him.

    2. Because I thought Rooney wouldn't produce, I made a rash decision to trade him out for Super Mario for a hit

    3. Feeling unreasonably confident in my last minute transfer, I captained Super Mario

Well, I went 0/3.. But hey, that's FPL.

    Must keep looking forward.

Cheers all, I'm guessing most of you at least made 1 of those decisions correctly 🙂

After reflecting on the price system, I've came to realise that we still have an advantage in terms of TV over the casuals albeit a smaller one. Reason being that prices are still rising but more significantly they are falling. Casual favourites like Crouch etc. are falling so they are losing TV in that sense. If the current trend continues I reckon by January the average TV will look something like this

    Casual- 102m
    FFS- 106m

This is opposed to last year where it was about

    Casual- 104m
    FFS- 108m

So the difference in TV I think will be about the same as before except we'll all have less money to play with. Now I will ponder over whether everyone having less money is a good or bad thing for us.

That is, ladies and gentlemen, your Price System Thought for the Day. Enjoy

Just realised that I contradict myself by saying we have a smaller advantage, then saying I will ponder over whether this helps us 😳
I will stand by my latter comment

Is transferring Hazard out short term a good move? Thinking of Di Maria, Tadic, Chadli until Chelsea's fixtures ease. I'm just sure he'll start to pick up points when if I do!!! He has excellent stats just not points

Debating this myself, kicking myself over sacrificing my defence to get Hazard in over Fabregas, I want to keep the faith, he did me proud last year.

But whereas he was the main man for Chelsea last year, this year I think the points will be shared, and Costa and Fabregas are taking more than their fair share right now ðŸ™

    I have 0.7
Lamela > Chadli to free up funds for Rooney > Aguero in the future OR
Just do Cahill to Baines right now?
    Save the FT

Defence: Cahill Chambers Clyne Moore Baird

Why cesc isn't worth the money...

His goal threat is worse than many 6m mids. Members, check touches and shots in the box.

The conversion rate of the chances he's creating is unsustainably high. 37.5%. That's way better than anyone last year, e.g. ramsey was the best with 25%.

We either have another yaya on our hands or he will tail off.

    Anyone disagree?

sure he could tail off but when? might be another 4-5 weeks before he tails off.
sure his goal threat may be poor but he's heavily involved in a very good chelsea side

Wait for the final point tallies among midfielders and the ridiculousness of this argument will be right there, before your eyes.

He will get 200pts over the season.

      The END.

I disagree. He won't be as explosive as many other mids around his price, but he will continue to rack up the assists. He's on some set pieces, is central to every Chelsea attack, and if you've watched him this season you'll see the assists and chances he has created have been world class. He'll occasionally play as a CAM too, in arguably the most attacking team in the league.

Ok. How many chances do you think he'll make per game? 3? 4? More than that would be crazy? If he reverts to the mean he will get maybe 2 assists every 3 games. That's 4-5 ppg. Not good enough imo.

tbh he does not seem that involved in Chelsea's attacks. it's mostly him sitting back while Hazard, Costa, Schurrle and Oscar do their business. That being said he does take set pieces for a side with who are probably the most lethal in the air in the league right now. and he does end up creating atleast one world class chance(on a platter) per game. Considering the other options in the game atm i dont consider him "essential" though. Gonna watch tomorrow's game and the City game before deciding between him and hazard(and ADM)

Only problem is by then Hazard will have dropped 0.1m(not a problem if you don't own him..) and ADM/Cesc will be 0.1m more expensive. In ADM's case 0.2m since last week.

        It all adds up.

I think you need to look at the bigger picture sometimes over any statistical data. His plays in a team scoring for fun, is on a no of set plays and has an impressive history of large point scores in FPL.

Hazard took a corner vs Swans that rolled to the goal. It was shocking. a minute later Cesc took one from the same spot.

        Costa goal.

My argument is that his ppg won't be worth his price from here in. I'll happily bookmark this and come back later this season.

Not relevant. Depends how many games they play. Probably gerrard, cesc, ramsey. In no particular order. Sterling close.

ppg won't justify 9.4m from here imo

Would really appreciate a RMT (Rate my Toast). Dry, Butter or Jam and what changes would you make?

    Krul Elliot
    KELLY BAIRD FERDINAND Naylor Bardsley
    HAZARD Fabregas Sterling Ramsey Siggy
    Costa Naismith Rooney

    2 FT and 0. 2itb

I have a lot of issues in defence and would love to get Bertrand but need some cash to do so. Alternatively I try to go uber with Duff and Moore/Hutton coming in to shore up my bench. Thoughts?
