We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.
Keep Sanchez or drop and be able to get Pelle up top with ,Aguero and Costa
P.S i also have Forster and BertrandKeep and get Ulloa
keep
Play Naismith 3 4 3 or schneiderlin 3 5 2 this week?
leaning towards schneriderlin at this stage as they play QPR however I will need to use my FT albrighton > schneiderlin to bring him in
Schneiderlin, obvious
Rooney or ADM??
angelito
Personally I think neither might be best.
Rooney→costa
Worth a hit???
Cheers!Definitely.
Where am I going wrong? 25 points this week and ranked over 1 million overall for the season.
Krul Mannone
Lovren Dier Chambers (Wisdom) (Hutton)
Hazard Ramsey Siggurdson Henderson (Cattermole)
Costa Aguero Adebayorplayers that need to go quick:lovren, dier, hendo, ade
Lack of Sterling IMO
look at your players that blanket two weeks i a row.... Adebayor, Henderson, Dier, Lovren...
Also, Krul. Gotta get Krul out.
this was a bad week for me as well.
allot of upsets and away wins this week caused some real problems.
May I ask your expert opinion regarding this side:
Mannone
Cahil, Bertrand, Wisdom, Moore, Dummet
ADM, Ramsey, Sterling, Siggy, Marney
Aguero, Costa, Wellbzlook's very good, dummet only problem there but just keep for now
Getting nearer with little help from my friends 🙂
Dump Mata, Rooney and Bojan > ADM, Ulloa & Pelle for 4 point hit?
Will leave:
Mannone (SWA)
Clyne (QPR) , Wisdom (BUR) and Taylor (sun)
Ramsey (TOT), ADM (WHU), Sterling (EVE) , Fábregas (AVL,) ADM (WHU),
Pelle (QPR), Ulloa (cpl) Costa (AVL)
Bench: Krul, Siggy (sun), Rio, Chester
Or just do Mata > ADM, Rooney > Pelle for free and play Siggy?
ThanksOops, one ADM too many!
Last Man Standing League down to 1256.
Safety score is 38 this week.I was very lucky so scored 45 with naismith captain....
Wow, just scraped in for the 2nd week running, with a score of 38. Good stuff TM.
Too easy this week 🙂
It's actually 28 this week 😳
Does that mean with my 35 measly points I survived GW5? Ranked 1064 for GW5 LMS.
Yep, made it easy. Should be 28.
hi gents
2 FT for this week - any advice...
Begovic , Mccarthy
Clyne,Shawcross,Moreno,Taylor,Wisdom
Sterling,Lamela,Siggy,Tadic,Zaha
Kun,Falcao,Welbeck
$0 in the bank alsoDowngrade Falcao and get two better MFs.
Falcao→costa
Falcao out > ulloa in
zaha out > fabregas ininteresting..... i don't mind it..
Then I would lamela and the following week I would get downing because west ham play qpr
would bench lamela then transfer him out for downing*
fabregas over Hazard ?
Hello Everyone,
Need your help. Would this be good use with my WC.Thanks in advance
Current Team: (No FT, 0.9 itb)
Bego (Gilks)
Bertrand Naylor PVA (Hutton) (Coloccini)
Fab Sterling ADM Siggy (Albrighton)
Costa Rooney Adebayor
WC Team: (3.7 itb)
Forster (Mannone)
Baines Clyne Chambers (Duff Wisdom)
Fab Sterling ADM Siggy (Quinn)
Costa Ulloa PelleTop 3 mids for under 4.5??
Boyd, Cork, x
wanyama is 4.5 isnt he?
he said under 4.5 😉
Wanyama or cork??
meh same thing. such a waste to go cheap in midfield with so many quality options there, all made affordable by great mid-price strikers.
Sorry for repost
Rooney→costa
Worth a hit???
Cheers!Probably? It could definitely backfire for the week, Costa could blank and Rooney could score big, but long term Costa looks much more threatening.
So for this week only ????
Rooney in your opinion! !For this week only I feel like it's a gamble. It's probably worth doing but there's probably a 20% chance it blows up in your face.
I got rid of rooney for pelle playing qpr I think he will outscore rooney this week
Pelle will outscore Rooney this season.
There. I said it.very likely even just considering formations nevermind form.
I have decided to downgrade attack so I upgrade defence to city defenders/joe hart and baines laterYeah, I've got my eye on City defenders, particularly Mangala. Hart and Kolarov are interesting but probably won't happen for me.
With Baines, Clyne, Chambers though its hard to justify having another heavy defender though as someone with a great fixture will have to sit some weeks which isn't ideal.
Pelle and Ulloa seem like very similar players to me I hope I don't jinx them I now have both.
Who do you think will get more goals between ulloa and pelle?I think Pelle. He gets far more scoring chances even if he's been less clinical so far.
Leicesters goal conversion rate is at 18%, 2nd only to Chelsea, and I don't think they can keep that up. Ulloa should still see enough goals to make him worth his price in gold.
This week ONLY.
Kun or Welbz?Kun easily. Value doesn't matter over one week.
kun every week 😉
Kun always
agueroooo
Kun
the kun
Dat Guy
Cheers guys.
Battery out.
Just to put some meat on the bones of the Ivanovic debate
Chances conceded across the Chelsea back line by Left right and centre
Ivanovic's side 27 Centre 9 Azpis's side 11
Only the right hand side of Leicester (34) have conceded more chances than Ivanovic's position
In context...Ivanovic's side of defence have conceded 27 chances whilst the whole back line of Soton have conceded only 26 chances for the season so far.As Chelsea sit atop the table looking down at all others.
Villa couldn't score in a brothel though so I'm gonna captain him.
Food for thought in the long term thoughAye..fantastic. I'm all for the Coleman. Ivanovic and Baines's of this world..I'm just putting some numbers to the debate. Only Mourinho knows what hereally thinks about Ivanovic and he's saying nowt. I suspect he rather likes it or he'd be clipping his wings.
I agree with you completely.
The trick with attacking full backs, as with Coleman and Baines, is that if they go forward the CDM's stay put..so in effect you still have a back four..The odd thing with Chelsea is that they are lop sided..Ivanovic is playing one game whilst Azpi is doing the opposite and playing a more conservative game...Both great but lop sided..
I don't have statistical evidence to support this, but I would imagine things are made defensively significantly worse by Fab consistently making runs into the box and hanging around the edge of the box as well leaving Matic all alone to do a job of two people.
TBF if they hadn't got away with it to this point Mou might be having something to say or do about it.
I'm guessing he likes the physicality Ivanovic brings in both penalty areas. Think he'd have dropped him by now otherwise
Felipe Luis is very good defensively, if Mou wanted to shore things up he could bring him in..
But will he?Our game in CL when Filipe started, him and Hazard on the wings were a joy to watch. Personally I'd much prefer Azpil/Luis on the sides rather than Ivanovic.
Ivan has to be the most forward fullback
I'm beginning to think it won't matter.
Any figures for the other attacking fullbacks such as Coleman or Janmaat?
Its almost getting to the point where people should consider Ivanovic as a midfielder rather than a defender, much like Baines.
On my WC, but have a dilema;
A)Dummett, Cork/Quinn, Boyd & Aguero
B)Chambers, Sterling, Sigurdsson & Ulloa
Option A would allow me to have Costa, Falcao & Aguero upfront, & Fabregas, Di Maria & Sanchez in midfield......i don't like to talk as out my defence 😉ADM or Rooney?
I have neither. Rooney just lost his value big-time by playing so deep (as described in the article above). ADM isn't gonna keep scoring like he has been when he isn't facing QPR and Leicester. Big Sam up next...
I agree, but the way he's involved in almost every United counter is eye-catching. Easily the most 'essential' United player in my opinion, especially now Rooney is as much as a mid as him.
Yeah for sure. He's the most valuable player to have from their team right now, but I am still not convinced he can keep this up against teams who will set up to destroy him.
Absolutely. There's no way he'll keep scoring like that. Let's not forget his goal against QPR was down to pure luck. But I do expect him to get some assists and bonus points.
ADM
Repost of my reply to a similar question from earlier.
Rooney, RVP and Falcao are fighting a war for Man U goals. I prefer to invest in their arms dealer - ADM.
I honestly believe it's a fools errand to predict which of the forward trio will score with the information available at this point in time.
After doing Lovren>Baines in GW8 for 1.4, I'll have another 2.0m itb.... What would you do with it here?
Begovic Krul
Lovren/Baines Clyne Chambers Taylor Wisdom
Siggy Tadic Ramsey Fabregas Sterling
Costa Pelle Ulloa
Anyone who answers gets a hypothetical high-five! 🙂The only obvious thing I can see is Tadic/Ramsey to Di Maria, provided they keep respective forms -- which I expect to happen. Other than that, maybe Krul to Guzan/Heaton, too.
Yeah those have crossed my radar. If I trade Krul it would most likely be for a 4.0 like McCarthy though. I've given up on the rotation as Begovic will play most games until at least GW13 anyways.
Could be one. That'd free up some much needed cash so you can do Tadic to Di Maria. Don't trust United, but given their scoring form, I'd definitely consider having someone from them.
They'll score goals no doubt about it, i just think they'll be evenly spread across their main guys just like they were against Leicester. ADM will get subbed early sometimes too, same goes for their other strikers.
unfortunately, shit happens and you will that will not be the team you put out in gw8 🙂
Well yeah stuff happens, but the Lovren>Baines trade is a no-brainer in GW8. My 2nd FT until then needs sorting out though. Tadic>DiMaria is already out of reach but I'm not sure I'd do that anyways due to Southampton's fixtures being so good for the next 6 compared to United.
If I trade Ramsey it'll most likely be for Walcott anyways. I like the idea of having lots of options with only 1FT with so much money itb though. Usually it takes two transfers to make things happen when it involves upgrading someone.yeah, true...if all goes well you will then you are in business 🙂
ulloa to welbeck
Baines gw8 me too rick.
Long time no see, gents! Hope y'all are doing superb.
Anyway, was playing a bit here and I can't believe I can actually afford this WC team. Should I hit the confirm button, anyone? Advices?
Mannone, Heaton
Ivanovic, Baines, Clyne, Duff, Hutton
Di Maria, Fabregas, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Boyd
Costa, Welbeck, Pelle
Thanks in advance! 🙂Why no post current team?
Cheers for the reply, Walsh. Current team, which has given me three red arrows in a row now, is as follows:
Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Dier, van Aanholt, Wisdom, Hutton
Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Sterling, Silva, Albrighton
Costa, Rooney, Adebayor
Bit of a no-brainer, right?Yeah. 🙂 Go on.
By the way, awesome back four. Was planning to double/triple-up on Chelsea's defence, too, but I'm afraid going without Costa is the same as going without Suarez last season!
Anyway, Knicks fan? 😉Yeah I like it - bit different - I usually play this game to have fun and hope for a good rank. I like it at the moment. Costa did me too dirty with hamstring-gate after week two and I have yet to forgive him so I will be going without for the foreseeable future. I hate the NBA, so not really. 🙂
Hahaha, good for you. My brother's based in NYC too, so every time I'm there I ask him to take me to MSG. Never been to a baseball game, though. Will definitely give it a try next time! 😉
That looks very formidable mate. It is amazing what downgrading a 2nd forward and 5th midfielder can do for your first XI. I wouldn't WC but each to their own. Thats a good team right there.
Cheers for the reply, Dinho! Your team's looking pretty good as well, so I'd keep the WC if I were you. Just consider the things I mentioned on your post above. As for myself, see my team in the reply above, I guess I don't have other option! 😛
Thanks man.
If I were you I wouldn't WC this week. You can put out a very solid team already. If you have a FT maybe trade Adebayor to Pelle and you're good to go.
Krul
Cahill, van Aanholt, Wisdom
Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Sterling, Silva
Costa, Rooney, Adebayor
(Mannone Dier Hutton Albrighton)
I've decided to play this game as if my WC doesn't exist. Easier to find rational solutions when I don't think about the get-out-of-jail card all the time. That way I'll only use it in a freak situation when loads of injuries strike, or I'll have it in the run-in for DGW's. The team will never be totally perfect, but week-on-week I can make one or two trades that move my team to where I want it to be with a view of fixtures 3-4 weeks ahead.Another piece of advice I read on here a few weeks ago is to treat every transfer as a hit, even if its with a FT. If you wouldn't do the transfer if it cost you -4, then don't do it at all.
Makes sense, mate. Ideally, I'd love to do like you and keep it. The thing, though, is I don't want to see the likes of Di Maria, Fabregas, Pelle and even Welbeck, maybe, rising their prices and they being not able to afford them later on. On top of that, I'm in desperate need of strengthening my defence. Had only one cleanie in the last two GWs, so I must get a Burnley and Southampton defender in, too. That's why I'm considering doing that!
CS's are hard to predict. Not many people would have got multiple CS's from the last couple of gameweeks, apart from the lucky few who had Burnley and Southampton defenders. I wouldn't make massive trades when you have defenders who could just as well get CS's next week.
I can understand the value issue, but there's so many different players to choose from that you just can't have them all. ADM has already risen once this GW so you'd probably only gain 0.1 anyways which doesn't seem worthwhile.
Up to you though of course 🙂
Dream team 😀
Cheers, matey!
You could get ulloa instead of welbeck then upgrade one of your keepers to hart plus (4m)
Could be one. I thought of doing that, and then getting an Arsenal cover in from GW8 onwards...
walcott would be good when he is fit by then
Very similar to my squad for GW6, but I've elected to keep a cheap back line and money in the bank for flexibility. Using this approach, I can pivot to any of the following strategies: 1) shore up back line at a later date, 2) invest in 5th midfielder if forwards do not pan out, 3) upgrade to Kun if I ever feel the need.
With your line-up, you've effectively chosen option 1) in advance. This could work well.Cheers for the insight, mate. Yes, I was thinking the same thing. But, as you said, in case Aguero gets hot, I can easily downgrade Ivan/Baines and then do Welbeck/Pelle to him. But, yes, if I need to get a good 5th mid, then I wouldn't have this option! Let's see how things goes, though. I feel it's more likely to see a more urgent striker raise than anything else.
Good luck! I'm rooting for you, mostly because our teams are nearly identical.
Expected risers/fallers??
I don't think there's gonna be many risers tonight. Possibly only Pelle.
Looking forward to seeing Caulker finally fall. How do people know who's going to rise or fall now that total fpl not working?
Its an educated guess.
http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk seems to be pretty accurate. No likely risers
Need a 2 week punt from these two...
A) Rodwell (SWA/STO)
or
B) Moses (NEW/sun)
ThanksMoses looks sharp
Moses sure
Agree Moses
Which trio looks primed to score the most this GW?
A) Forster - Rooney - Henderson
B) Krul - Welbeck - Pelle (-4)not sure about this gw but long term b
A
Thanks for the reply. What edges it for you?
Rooney and Forster with strong fixtures plus 4pts. Hendo can always pop up and surprise everybody as well with the odd goal/assist.
A
Anyone else got/keeping Zaha? He'll probably sit on bench for me next couple weeks but around GW9/10 mark I think he'll rack up some decent pts.
I have decided to keep the faith with him. I love him too much to let him go - will just hope for the best and hope his class forces Warnock's hand.
He's not certain to start especially after the way Bolassie played at the weekend.
Well thats my Monday night football bets gone already, 2nd night in a row a defensive touchdown as 1st touchdown scorer 🙁
Who were you on?
Marshall and Forte, should have just backed the bears
Meh. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I would have left this game well alone.
I only put a fiver on it, first td scorers are just like first goalscorers but the odds are surprisingly big, i suppose its because of interceptions etc (like tonight )
🙁
hey mate, what are your thoughts on enner valencia? 🙂Really like him as a player and a FPL prospect, explosive can score from anywhere great in the air made us better already, but ay 7m Welbeck is a much better option, im not sure the goals will keep flowing, but i hope they do
cheers - im probably getting him in 🙂
Downing has excited me just as much, if i was to get a West Ham player it will be Downing, he has been unbelievable, first in line for me should Siggy have to go
Go Bears
🙂
Interesting article. 4 points where David Moyes was outdoing Louis Van Gaal.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/not-just-points-4-areas-in-which-david-moyes-was-outdoing-louis-van-gaal-at-manchester-united-independent/If United flop again this season I'm thinking they will need Mourinho to fix things.
They'll go for Jurgen Klopp or Simone. Can't see Mourinho leaving Chelski.
Great photo from the 1950 World Cup Final at the Maracana

given all the security and precaution this summer, it's crazy to see fans sitting over the edge of the wall, just to watch..173,000 attended
"Health and safety" was not invented then....:)
My dad was at the 1979 Brazilian cup final (i think between flamengo and vasco) when there was 205,000 people in the stadium. Mental!
A- naismith+ramsey→ adm + vardy
Or
B- naismith+Rooney→ costa/pelle + vardy
Or
C- naismith→ulloaI like B a leicster fan on here said vardy important for them and great value plus you would not be afraid to bench him
So costa or pelle for gw 8 +9 ???
tough call but pelle because they are home games plus you have money in the bank to get baines or man city defenders later
you need someone who's guaranteed to start as a 3rd striker though, and for his good game against United, vardy isn't nailed... not yet anyways. I'm happy to bench ulloa in anycase, and think the extra 0.7 outlay is repayed by him being in the box so much and also on pens when nugent is off.
1) Ulloa (cpl) -4 points or
2) Siggy (sun) and leave Bojan to rot on the bench for now
Cheers2
i did Bojan to Ulloa for a hit
Bojan's Value is going down and down i couldn't wait any longerTrue but owned by just 175,175 people now and just 5,217 drop today. You think that he'll drop again any time soon?
Off to my pit...but before i go...Sometimes I should listen to my on advice. I ddn't even have ADM this week..but..http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/09/16/the-big-numbers-gameweek-5-3/?hc_page=14#hc_comment_8306843
What % of the top 10K do you think will own ADM by deadline?
I'll say 66%wow he's up another 21% today... (trusting TFPL)
I'd say the top 10k would have a lower incidence for ownership than overall given they generally would be more discriminating and weigh the pros and cons (pros being ADM and who he is; cons being United's upcoming fixtures and their overall form)He had 36.2% last week and plenty who are now in the top 10K got there due to him.
I stand corrected, could be
Not many of the top 10k at this stage are usually in the top 10k come the end of the season. They are usually just bandwagon jumpers and the exact types to jump on the likes of adm
true
Maybe 500 will stay there perhaps.
Yeah probably about that I reckon.
most are in there because they already have him
Only 36% last week.
😀 good point - true as well!
Certainly most the top 1k will have him,
In the top 50, 34 captained & 44 own him.
😯
I think top 10k stats are still meaningless at this stage. Obviously those that jumped on the bandwagons will be up there.
They must have the core players making it harder for those chasing.
Its too early to say who the core players even are. Its far to early and too small a sample size to assume all those in the top 10k are there on skill alone and will be difficult to chase down.
4 mids over 73%
Costa & a choice of 2 forwards
Defence/goal keepers is anyone.
5 core attackers at least. Rooney is near 60%.Rooney will not continue at that ownership percentage.
Very true. Rooney is the enabler with Ulloa, Pelle & Welbeck allowing the Di Maria upgrade.
Also just to prove there's truth to Ryan's point, Krul is still the most selected keeper ATM.
Mannone has Krul covered at the pointy end.
Are those 4 mids going to be essential are they? nobody can know that for sure, certainly not at this stage. Blimey, we might all end up playing 433 in a couple of weeks and there might be no reliable midfielders.
433 😕
Essential no, some are playing 5 mids with great success. Juggling the attackers well is where the main points are. Ramsey has now been discarded from that status.433 was a thing last year. If this weekend produces a host of clean sheets and the mids fail to fire don't be surprised to see some people considering a 433, particularly with Baines about to start a good run of fixtures.
Arguable whether the "core" players have emerged yet, even Costa could be another mickey quinn
Costa needs rotation/injury to slow him down atm.
Yeah at the moment he looks unstoppable. I'd imagine that's the way mickey quinn must have looked when he set the record Costa couldn't match 😉
What do you make of my team? I have 2 FT but unsure what changes to make.
Bego
Moreno PVA Taylor
Siggy Tadic Hazard Sterling
Aguero Pelle Costa
McCarthy Bertrand Marney Moorehow much in the bank?
£0.4m
Moreno ---> Chambers is a good one imo
your team looks in good shape otherwise 🙂I was thinking that myself. Liverpool upcoming fixtures looking pretty tasty so wasn't sure.
