From now on, we’re shifting our Captain Sensible article to a Thursday evening slot, giving you more time to assess the data on offer. Once again, we roll out a three-part approach, which takes in the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the Captain conundrum.

For the second section, we’ve reverted back to the formula from the end of last season, creating our own custom tables from the Members area and looking at player and team statistics over the last four matches as a gauge of form.

Captain Poll

Unsurprisingly, it’s one-way traffic in this week’s Captain Poll as Chelsea prepare for a home encounter with Villa. After serving up a 17-point return in his previous appearance at the Bridge, Diego Costa has been nominated by 55% of the voters so far, with Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas persuading just 1% of Fantasy managers that they’re worthy of the armband.

A goal and assist in each of his last two appearances makes United’s Angel di Maria second only to Costa – 11% have given the Argentine the nod, with 2% opting for Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao. Despite netting against Leicester last weekend, Robin van Persie has been selected by less than 1% ahead of the home clash against West Ham – an indication, if ever, of our collective loss of faith in the Dutchman’s capabilities.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is also highly fancied, with over 7% giving him the nod. The Italian, who has delivered three goals and an assist in his last three, entertains a QPR side that has conceded four goals in both away matches under Harry Redknapp so far. Five goals in as many matches brings Leicester’s Leonardo Ulloa into consideration as he travels to Palace – the Argentine has been selected by 3%, the same as compatriot Sergio Aguero, for City’s visit to Hull.

Most attacking def I've seen in an attacking top side. He will get attacking points and the occasional cs. Value

Right i wanna take out krul and chester for a playing keeper and a playing def.

    preference is

    forster and moore.

problem is i only have 1ft and 0 itb and forster looks like he will rise this game week.

i no its probably not going to pay back straight away.but is it worth the hit to get the players i want?any rise and i cant do it.help would be excellent.x

Obvious fact of the day but taking Aguero out doesn't half open up options for the rest of your team (most notably defence).

What to do this week? Really struggling

2 free transfers and 2.0 in the bank

    Begovic, (McCarthy)
Ivanovic, Bertrand, Van Aanholt, (Mee, Hutton)
    Sterling, Tadic, Mirallas, Chadli,(Sigurdsson)
    Costa, Rooney, Pelle

    Should I
    A) Mirallas and Chadli > Di Maria and 5.7m mid
    B) Mirallas and Chadli > Hazard and 5.5m mid or
    C) Mee > Duff

C obviously the most boring but keeps my 2 free transfers. Mirallas and Chadli also both capable of points in their respective derby matches

I'd ride it out this game week. Drop albrighton, ferdinand and moore and rest should get your 50 points still. Then use 2 FT to get costa/di maria in.

Think Ade could easily score as recent london derbies been very high scoring. I would certainly not be picking an arsenal/spurs defender this week anyway.

A because potentially Costa may just outscore the rest of the forwards. C would be good too but I think you should have rode the Ulloa wagon earlier to get the price rise benefit.

Not sure, only read that Suso is starting and Balotelli on bench (those were the big news). They were right about the Villa-game the bib-theorists so maybe

Zaha -> Downing? Who is the best 5th midfielder under 6.4m? I already have Siggy.

Chadli maybe. Or somebody from Hull. Conceding lots but also scoring lots. Downing not a bad bet though.

    THE ALTERNATIVE COSTA THEORY

He is rested because Chelsea have a must win game on Tuesday and then a big match v Arsenal on Sunday. Jose needs him for Tuesday, but cannot play him Sat, Tues, Sun and because Tuesday is now so important he cannot play him Sat-Sun either. Therefore he will bench him Sat, play him from the start on Tuesday and then again on Sunday (as pretty big recovery time still)

So if you make him captain... woe betide you

(Citation this is just an elaborate ruse to stop other people from making him captain)

Defense needs some work, Dier needs to go fast I think, not sure for who though, possibly stoke defense? As usual your collective wisdom is greatfully received!!

Starting lineup for this week atm is:

    Courtois
    Clyne - Duff - Moore
    ADM - Fab - Rambo - Steerling - Siggy
    Costa - Welbeck

    2.3m ITB

    Bench: Dier, Dummet, Naismith, Myhil

Maybe Wilson of Stoke can replace Dier. Or heck, wait for two weeks then replace him with someone from the Arsenal backline (Chambers is the cheapest option).

5 games in and we still dunno for sure who is on penalties for chelsea.. logic says Hazard but there's always that fear that Costa could be on em.. so my question is.. if Hazard takes a pen this weekend who would you get between hazard and Fabregas if you dont own either?

Hazard. Expensive he may be but with that low rate of ownership, he has become a differential this season.

    Pelle or Falcao?

I currently have Falcao and seriously considering using the free transfer to bring in Pelle and bank the £3.3mil left over!

    What do you think?...

I'll captain him too. I'm simulating the fixture in FIFA 15. Brace in the first half lol

Falcao looked decent last week before being taken off, his shot that hit the bar cudda changed the entire game for him and United. I feel like he only needs one goal to really explode and it won't matter what team he plays against.

Pelle in a consistent Soton team, looks like a poacher but should have converted more chances than he has so far. Next 7 fixtures should provide him with chances to score.

Based on this weeks fixtures alone I would go with Pelle playing against a poor QPR defense

Hey guys, please help me choose my starting XI for this weekend:

    Forster/Krul

    Dier, Duff, Azpilicueta, Naylor, Wisdom

    Sterling, ADM, Sanchez, Fibreglas, Siggy

    Welbeck, Ulloa, Costa

I've also got one FT and planning on taking Sanchez out at some point (possibly for Walcott which will free up 1.4mil)

Yea was always gna start Forster

I can see West Brom and Burnley neutralising each other in a bore 0-0

Can also see Swans and Chelsea clean sheets, undecided between Siggy or Ulloa on the bench...

Argh! Its so hard choosing, thanks for your input though

Drop Krul. Try getting Mannone or Heaton.

If I have that lineup, my subs would probably be Siggy/Ulloa (choose one), Dier, and maybe Naylor. Choosing is one tough task.

Feeling good about this week.9 playing at home

    Forster

    Clyne Wilson duff
Sterling Ramsey siggi di maria fabregas
    Costa (c) Rooney

    What do you think?

      Begovic (Mannone)
      Ivanovic Clyne Shawcross (Chambers Duff)
      Sterling DiMaria Fabregas Sigurdsson (Schneiderlin)
      Pelle Costa(c) Ulloa

How does this look? Options i'm considering is DiMaria out for Hazard or a double trade of DiMaria out for Sanchez and Begovic out for a 4.5 keeper.

Similar situation here, GW5 was supposed to be bad, because of the away games, but it came out really well for me (everybody else were much worse). I'm really expecting to have a blasting GW6 though, the favourites will probably win this time, especially when most of the clubs had a midweek game.

Any harm in giving armband to Di Maria instead of Costa.

Reasoning: Villa been very good defensively, got a good result vs Chelsea last season, I can smell a Hazard goal coming, Di Maria is potentially the best player in the league (par with Hazard).

Are you on top of your league? If so, choose Costa.
Are you not? Risk Di Maria, either you go even more down or outplay the majority that has captained Costa.

Just finished reading some stats and wonder who to play?

A - Naismith .. Merseyside derby. There might be goals, but also red card.
B - Siggy .. Just scored midweek. Usually do well on away game.
