Every little point counts. With the mini-league gap between myself and co-host Granville widening by the week, my Mancunian friend can ill-afford to throw points aside in his bid to follow up last season’s victorious campaign.

In and around the usual ScoutCast regulars, Granville recalls the dilemma that saw him get away with benching Cesc Fabregas to the tune of just a single point. Will that prove costly?

We then join forces to run the rule over the accelerating Di Maria bandwagon, assess Rooney’s re-positioning and decide whether those steering away from Ramsey Street need to re-programme their sat navs.

Treasure this nonsense via this link or cling to these worldly goods via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Mm I'd go for A - think tadic's time is soon and Welbeck looks a better investment than Ramsey at the moment (could change quickly). But it's the 2 extra mil that entices me.

I have B so I'll say B. Pelle is leading that potent Soton attack and they are against QPR this weekend. As for Ramsey, the goals are not yet there but he still has been involved in those Arsenal attacks so I'd say be patient.

    Interesting point of speculation:

What, in your opinion, is the lowest current OR from which somebody could end up winning FPL?
Similarly, by GW 10, how high up (OR-wise) would you have to be to win it?

Bearing in mind - it's pure speculation - but isn't that what we folk do best? 😛

I don't like him to. I hate him so much that I'm considering DDG to Forster for -4 😯

        1. Geordienufc1
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 2 months ago

That's a hefty amount of hate. But I'd encourage you to stick. I certainly don't anticipate that DDG will get more than 2 pts, and while I do expect a Saints CS (therefore a likely 6 pts for Forster), if you were to do that for a hit, you're still only getting the same score.

There's surely a far higher chance that you will lose out on that transfer this week. With Spurs next week (poor as they are), I'd try and hold til GW 8, at which time that transfer seems like it would pay more significant dividends.

It could pay off handsomely but I would only do it if there was a distinct lack of clear captaincy options. This is probably one of the worst weeks to risk something like that though given how many of the top players have home games in derby's or against weaker teams.

Bit like yesterday when someone posted a photo of a car that had Muslim Dog spray painted on it. I looked at it and thought it said Mc Slim Doo (admittedly it was poorly written).

Ew, Caulker. I suppose he's a far bigger goal threat than Chambers though. Rest of the team is good.

Cheers guys. It's obvious that the defense needs fixing. Have 3.0m saved for Baines in a couple of weeks. Caulker will be gone then, barring some miracle 🙂

I know the Baines rule (don't captain, don't bench) but I am seriously considering benching him for Duff. The Burnley game looks like an obvious 0-0 while Liverpool will tear apart that leaky Everton defence. Do I hope for another penalty?

The reason you don't bench him is you never know when he'll deliver the offensive points he is great at delivering. And, given Everton's defensive solidity so far this season, I'm guessing you have him in for his offensive returns.

Baines is always good for an assist or two. And in the derby games, you can expect a penalty. Play him.

I'm vexed again, so am asking for suggestions since I'm running out of ideas.
My current team after using my two free transfers:
    Begovic, Hamer
    Clyne, Terry, Chambers, PVA, Williamson
    ADM, Fab, Larsson, Zaha, Marney
    Costa, Rooney, Ulloa
    5.3M in the bank.
Zaha seems to have lost favour so could go for Sterling, Schneiderlin, Tadic, Siggy or Dyer for a 4pt hit.
Any strong opinions or other choices that I may have missed?
Your input would be very much appreciated.

With Sanchez's fixtures then I'm reticent to jump on that very small bandwagon.
Do you really think that he'll tear it up over the next three weeks?

Surprised you don't already have one of Sterling/Siggy at least in the team, especially with 5.3 ITB!

I'd suggest getting Tadic/Siggy this game week (unsure how well Sterling will play in the derby), but then aim to bring in Sterling also over the coming game weeks as he has good fixtures.

I'm very tempted by both of those two, Crteer, but Tadic has caught my eye so I'll probably go for him, especially since JWP is injured. He'll be on set pieces and possibly penalties too.
Not much of a punt, and I don't want a template team if I can help it.
        Thanks, Will.

I'm not a great believer in the "Upgrade X to Y" simply because Y costs more than X.
Look at the top GK. Heaton from Burnley.
If anyone had suggested that I changed from De Gea to him then they'd have been laughed off the site, but he's turned out to be a better bet.
That's the way things are going this season, as far as I can see.

Everyone has at least one defender. Clyne doesn't need the CS to score well.

Clyne is a good pick this week imo..i went for Heaton instead of Forster, knowing that i would always start Clyne (except may be against big guns) and do not want this dilemma of doubling up the defence to bother me..

Well I have McCarthy as other keeper, so not playing him.

Other defensive options that I am going to play were Naylor and Duff, with Moreno / Wilson as sub, assuming I play Clyne?

Why would you bench Clyne against big guns? He already scored at Anfield and at the Emirates... When he doesn't get a CS he gets a goal or assist to make up for it...

I was considering benching him for the Spurs game but the way they're playing there is no way I'm doing that. He'll play every game apart from maybe City or Chelsea away, depending on my options.

Would you go from Ramsey to Sterling?

I am currently on Ramsey but he's been so quiet lately.. I also have Cesc ADM Siggy and Wanyama on my mid.

Or I should get rid off Naismith? but I only have 0.3 itb and not sure there is a 5.6 better forward than him.

The way I see it, you want to pick a team that is set up for the medium-to-long term when you're on a WC to minimize the number of FT's you'll HAVE to make, so Baines makes perfect sense.
