Our Monday afternoon regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey (hamstring), Mikel Arteta (calf) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) were all forced off during Saturday evening’s north London derby. After the match, Arsene Wenger admitted he was somewhat surprised by the Welshman’s withdrawal as central midfield concerns mount up:

“Wilshere, if you look at the incident again, has been tackled and turned his ankle over. Ramsey is a concern that he did his hamstring. I don’t understand because he had a good rest this week, I didn’t play him against Southampton on Tuesday night. It’s a surprise because he’s usually a resistant boy.”

Burnley
According to reports, Lukas Jutkiewicz appeared to pick up a knock in the 4-0 rout at Burnley before being replaced on 67 minutes.

Everton
Kevin Mirallas was stretchered off with a hamstring injury just half an hour into the weekend Merseyside derby. After the match, Roberto Martinez went on to day:

“It seems bad. It’s a hamstring. We’re going to assess him in the next 24 hours. Kevin has been in great form and we’ve got a lot of games coming up. It’s very unfortunate for us.”

Reports today, though, suggest Mirallas could be out for up to a month with the problem.

Man United
Ander Herrera limped out of United’s narrow win over West Ham after sustaining a back problem.

QPR
Sandro was forced off early during the first-half of the R’s defeat at St Mary’s after a clash of heads with Sadio Mane.

Southampton
Florin Gardos missed the weekend win over QPR with a slight calf strain, according to the club’s official Twitter feed.

Tottenham
Goalscorer Nacer Chadli and left-back Danny Rose both limped off with injuries during the north London derby, according to the Tottenham official match report.

West Brom
Baggies left-back Sebastian Pocognoli was subbed off in the latter stages of yesterday’s 4-0 win over Burnley through injury.

West Ham
Mark Noble missed out on the weekend defeat at Old Trafford after picking up a calf injury in training the day before.

      Mignolet that is

Mignolet is awful but I don't think he would ever save a shot like that. A bit pointless from Neville I think

      1. rickardinho
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 6 months ago

Mignolet did make some boss saves at WBA, Southampton (on rodgriguez), and that penalty against Stoke obviously... plus the one he tipped onto the bar on opening day this season...

Kind of harsh to say he hasn't made big saves, but I think what they mean is that he needs to do them in the bigger games, rather than against the smaller teams, which i agree with.

He's a top 4-6 keeper imo. Not title winning however.

He's still young for a keeper though and has already massively improved his passing and has shown signs of getting better at collecting crosses (even though he's not great still)... one can hope he'll improve more

it's ballsy to make the observaton full stop, i reckon he'd have run it through a goalkeeper mate first as it takes confidence to make a technical point about a foreign position.

LOVED carragher spotting howard being in the air when the free kick was taken too. amazing observation and it really was the difference between a goal and a possible save

I used to be a keeper too and you want to make a little jump to be able to push off the ground more powerfully, but Howard got his timing completely wrong and was also jumping waaaay too high.

    Bego-Mcgregor
    Ivanovic-Clyne-Wisdom-Janmaat-PvA
    Sterling-Fabregas-Tadic-Siggy-King
    Costa-Aguero-Ulloa

1,4 in the bank and one free transfer.

What to do? Tempted to get another keeper for Bego or McGregor or another defender for Janmaat.

Who'd you go for for the next 3-4 GWs, as I am targetting Walcott as soon as he comes back:

    Di Maria
    Silva
    Ozil
    Mata
    Downing
    Dyer

    ?

Ive mentioned this several times in the past and most recently when Wakey gave us his player ratings and predictor. In light of my own disasterous FPL weekend I thought Id share my own spreadsheet ratings that ive used for sometime (and should probably pay more attention to!). It gives a player rating and also a possible regression warning.

The first figure is the rating and the second column is the regression warning. A frown indicates a chance of future regression. Whilst a smiley *might* suggest a possible future upturn in goal output.

Please note these values do not take into account fixture strength and do not highlight pitch time risks – such as Remy for example (although those present in this list have played a minimum of 200 mins as of this week). Also, it currently only takes in to account goal scoring and is really intended as a raw figure to aid decision making. Make of this what you will, but it makes for interesting reading if nothing else. (apologies if the formatting goes wrong!)

    Aguero 89
    Diego Costa 86 🙁
    Sakho (Diafra) 69
    Dzeko 69
    Pellè 64
    Remy 63
    Welbeck 62 🙂
    Chadli 61 🙁
    Sterling 57
    Sturridge 53 🙂
    Crouch 52
    Jovetic 51
    Ulloa 51 🙁
    Vaz Te 50
    Oscar 48 🙂
    Lukaku 48
    Hernández (Abel) 48 🙁
    Balotelli 48
    Vardy 48
    Adebayor 47 🙂
    Schürrle 46
    Enner Valencia 46
    Cole 46
    Sánchez (Alexis) 45
    van Persie 44
    Tadic 43

For comparison here the final figures for last years top 10 (all without significant regression warning, either positive or negative)

      Aguero 98
      Suárez (Luis) 84
      Dzeko 77
      van Persie 64
      Sturridge 59
      Lukaku 56
      Bony 56
      Giroud 55

Haven't decided yet. The reasoning behind it was sound as it enables me to have a more balanced team, but it doesnt look so clever at the moment! Think my pre WC team would have scored 14 or so points better!

Excited for weekend now my team's sorted.

    Begovic
    Azpil - Pieters - Taylor
    Siggy - Fabregas - Downing - ADM - Sterling
    Costa - Ulloa (C)

Despite an average week this week, all green ticks and top of my works league, lovely. Although, I'm still tempted to ditch either Pieters/Azpil for a more likely defender that'll bag me pts for the next 2-3 weeks.

On 4 yellows is the only negative.. but you have a bench. 🙂 I don't, so he's off the radar a bit. Not sure about Pelle and Tadic, but could be very good short term to be fair. The rest is great.

not sure on Pelle and Tadic?? both playing for a team in flying form with great fixtures, nothing short term about them. Tadic is playing amazing and with Mane in the team will get even more points, plus pens and free kicks. Look at Pelles recent form.

I fall for that one too. YC every game and not to many CSs. But Arsenal are looking at some solid fixtures after Chelsea, so it might actually work out if he stops getting booked.

What about one of the West Ham boys: Valencia or Sakho.
      They could be VFM strikers.

3 points off the bench from Eriksen could be worse I suppose...

In addition, is Pardew actually doing that poorly?
