Christian Benteke could be set to return to the Villa squad to face City. Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt for Liverpool. The central midfield woes build for Burnley, Stoke have worries out wide for their trip to Sunderland, Hull are set to be without their number one keeper for the next month, whilst Nacho Monreal may be back for Arsenal.

Sean Dyche faces a problem in central midfield ahead of the trip to Leicester. The Burnley boss has confirmed that Dean Marney and David Jones are still unavailable, whilst Nathaniel Chalobah is also ruled out after sustaining a throat injury during a midweek reserve outing.

Christian Benteke looks set to return to the Villa squad for the first time in months. The Belgian turned out for the reserves in midweek as he steps up his recovery from an anterior ligament injury, though Paul Lambert has admitted Ron Vlaar is likely to miss out yet again as City roll up to Villa Park.

Steve Harper is set to start for Hull’s home encounter with Palace after Allan McGregor was ruled out for around four weeks with a shoulder injury.

Nacho Monreal has a chance of returning in time for Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this morning.

Mame Biram Diouf is unavailable for Stoke this weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury in Monday’s win over Newcastle. Victor Moses is expected to shake off a minor thigh problem in time for the trip to Sunderland.

Wes Brown is available for the Black Cats once again after missing out with a calf complaint last weekend. Emmanuel Giaccherini remains a doubt for Gus Poyet’s side, though.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted he’ll have to “wait and see†over Daniel Sturridge’s fitness as Liverpool prepare to face West Brom. The Reds boss has confirmed the likes of Joe Allen, Emre Can, Jon Flanagan, Glen Johnson and Mamadou Sakho remain sidelined.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

I spent the first two weeks of a new job mistaking one person for two. He was bald in the office and wore a cap in the pub, he looked 15 years younger...

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Community article of the month winner

Thanks to everyone who voted for their favourite community article of the month. I'm delighted to announce that Puntmaster has won for his series of Best Punts articles. A two out of three success rate, including predicting Craig Dawson's haul last week, have contributed to their popularity.

Congratulations Puntmaster - you win a £20 Amazon voucher. Could you do me a favour and send me the best email address to get that over to you. I'm at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

That we do although you'd be surprised, efficiency of saving/storing water and resevoirs etc. has been very very poor at times (government to blame big time me thinks). We receive so much rain etc. yet there have been many times I've heard analysts on warning about water shortages, purely because we mustn't have enough reservoirs.

              It's all a bit silly!

I genuinely am not!!! I think it was two years ago I heard a bunch of them talking about water usage etc. here and saying if it continues to grow at the rate it was there could be shortages.

Beggars belief eh? Really it is the infrastructure that needs massive improvement.

Not to mention the money we pumped into water maintenance from taxes was used shoddily by the government. They reckon we lose 50% of ALL clean water through leaks in our pipe systems.

                Now that is shocking!

One of those things that you can't take to heart, they've obviously had people screwing the system before and have to check themselves.

Should they trust people more? Of course but then again, that's exactly what a scammer is hoping for too.

I am going for Ulloa because Burnley are missing thier midfield and strikers.
Swansea have not been very prolific but if they score a few v Newcastle he should be involved.

Will be watching Leicester - Burnley closely as I don't have any of their players (well, except Marney). Ideal score would be 1-1, I suppose.

Can you see Leicester scoring more than 1 goal? Would want to pick a captain from a game with goals in it.

Not trying to pursuade anyone here, but by "poor form", you mean:

          che - 2 pts
SOU - Bony sent off 1st half - 2 pts
sun - Rangel sent off - 3 pts

I wouldn't put his poor form down to his performances tbh.

Rangel was sent off on 80 mins BTW, so that one doesn't really count.

But yes, you still wouldn't expect a lot of points from those three games.

What is Roberto Martinez thinking? He starts a pretty full strength team in each of these stupid EL games. He's been in England long enough to know that the PL is far more important for the club than some second-tier European tournament that people can't even remember who won last year?

If this goes on, I expect them to continue to struggle.

Bizarre isn't it. I really don't know what he's thinking tbh. You'd think he would rethink playing a full strength team when he has Man Utd away this weekend

Yes, in Krasnodar, too! He should have left some players home, that's a 4+ hour flight...

I think the back four, which he has pretty much given no rest to, will suffer the most...

There is a long way from first couple of group games to winning it. Hardly needs first team to get out of group also

Yep and that is why Baines is a bad choice. Will not keep enough clean sheets for his price tag.

Fantastic going forward but better to pay the little extra for Ivanovic or Azpil

They're not exactly gonna get relegated if they put out a decent side in europe occasionally. Best case top 6 worst case mid table but if they finished mid table and won europa they'd be laughing and the fans would be delighted. They don't have a huge squad in fairness to him and fringe players like Hibbert and Gibson did feature

Yeah. There's no way there finishing top 4. Realistically they're fighting for a Europa League place in the league. And seeing as they are already in it they can now try to win it and get in the UCL.

Getting out of the group stages isn't a given. By the looks of it he's playing a strong team to try and qualify early, then he can rotate.

I happen to like his attitude though, nice to see someone placing priority on a chance of trophy rather than fourth spot in the league. Fans remember silverware wins a lot longer than qualifying for champ league and getting beaten eventually

not sure if you are entirely serious as it sounds like trolling..

Every other country in Europe respects the EL as an important competition and something to win.

I think its unlikely that Everton will win the league so why not try to win this? In any case doing well in this competition will give them a better club coefficient if they get into the CL meaning a higher seeding and a better group (hopefully but not always!). Points in EL are worth the same as in CL.

If all English clubs didn't take it seriously, and with them not doing as well in the CL it's possible that England might lose their 4th CL place too...

Final number crunch from the Wakomatic steam generated number cruncher...Selected (due to going shopping..grrr) attacking threat from open play for defenders over the next six gameweeks...as oppose to the last six..

          Ivanovic 39
          Zabaleta 28
          Tomkins 24
          Baines 24
          Moreno 24
          Mert 20
          Janmaat 18
          Caulker 16

Baines obviously has set pieces and pens to add to his repertoire.

Tomkins a very good punt for the next two.

I've lost a lot of respect for me as well.

It was rushed, I shouldn't have posted one. Didn't think it'd get nominated. I regretted the Burnley defence as soon as they were posted. I think I posted that on the boards...

Aguero returned, Pelle returned, Mane returned, Costa returned. It was Bertrand over Clyne that was the killer.

I've popped a bit more coal in the Wakomatic steam powered stats generator and have the numbers for the FWDS....Once again no consideration is given to recent goals or assists with the number entirely "potential" driven in respect of upcoming opponents etc..

Something of a bunching up of picks this weeks from the numbers but I'm sure anybody contemplating fwds transfers are aware of that.

            Pelle 66
            Costa 59
            Aguero 57
            Welbeck 55
            Sturridge 53
            Crouch 52
            Ulloa 51
            Sakho 47
            Lukaku 47
            Dzeko 43
            RVP 43
            Balo 42
            Valencia 41
            Ade 40
            Berahino 37
            .
            .
            .
Falcao 21 (apologies to those who picked him but that's what he is right now)

so what are the main stats you take into account? touches in box? shots? shots on target? And do you weight them all equally? Also, how do you rank and weight the difficulty of the upcoming fixtures? Thanks

Yep all of those and more...so for example more than 50% shots on target is a +1...playing ahead of the striker for mids is another +1...Good home fixtures another +1..and on and on..

Good...Picked Crouch out two weeks ago whilst everybody slumbered...21 pts in his last two games. Of course the acid test is over six weeks...The purpose is to try and pick the potential for the likes of Crouch as short term picks...Picking Costa is easy..

If you own Costa and Aguero, captaining the lower scoring players actually makes very little difference. You only miss out on half of the points.

Personally i never do anytime goalscorer - but I did do a Leicester clean sheet @2.29 mainly because Burnley are missing their strikers and midfield and I think they will be too busy defending.

Arsenal are hardly tight at the back and Costa has been more clinical than Aguero this season.

Think it was 6-0 to Chelsea at the Bridge last season too

see above. It's a close call but Arsenal have only kept 1 clean sheet and they are up against arguably the best team in the league. I don't think it's a hard a fixture as people are making out, Chelsea could easily pop a few past them.

Villa have defended well and could cause ManCity problems. No Vlaar though is making me considering change my mind to Aguero. I can't see them scoring more than 3 though, so I might just back Costa in the home fixture.

                  The case for Siggy©

                  Pros
                  + Newcastle at home
+ Likely to play "in the hole"
+ Has FPL history plus a goal and 4 assists this season
+ No CL game earlier in the week
                  + 4th highest owned player

                  Cons
                  - Has blanked in his last 3
                  - Costa and Aguero are considered safer picks
                  - Costa owned by practically every active team

I think the main reason why Siggy will be overlooked with the arm band is his form. Also, as the highest owned player, Costa is the safer pick, no question. But taking a closer look at form shows that while Siggy has blanked in his last 3, he has not been helped by circumstances Swansea have found themselves in.

                  che - 2 pts
SOU - 2 pts (Bony sent off in the first half)
sun - 3 pts (Rangel sent off)

For me, there are valid reasons why Siggy has gone from returning 29 points in his first 3 games to 7 in his last 3, which do not necessarily suggest a dip in form.

I'm not trying to persuade anyone here. Captain Costa or Aguero, they are very good picks, but up against a woeful Newcastle at home this week, I think Siggy is still a very good option.

Arsenal attacking cover seems essential from GW8 onwards. The question is WHO ?

Most people will go for either Welbeck or Sanchez. Many will say both.

                  Welbeck:
                  - Safe from rotation risk.
                  - Proved he fits Arsenal's style.
                  - Cheaper

                  Sanchez:
                  - On free kicks, corners and maybe penalties.
                  - Technically a striker classed as forward. (OOP)
                  - Kind of selfish, so great for fantasy points.

I have prepared a table for members about Arsenal players.
                  http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/6983/

Also, the comparison tool seems to prefer one over the other with a big margin.

I would recommend whoever did not get any of them yet, to wait until the international break ends even if there's value to be lost as both have some history with injuries.

So, who do you have or would have in your team?

Welbeck is so cheap for an Arsenal 1st choice forward.
Sanchez is costlier than the average Arsenal premium midfielder every year.

That is what decides it for me.
