Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

A little advice if you don't mind

Defence is iffy to say the least

Clyne Duff Moore Wisdom *Chambers* 0.4 ITB

    A) Play two of Duff / Moore / Wisdom this week and roll the FT

    B) Get Naylor in for Duff

    C) Get Hutton in for Duff next week

Randomly found this guy in the top 10K

    -Never had Costa
-Never had Sigurdsson for any of his returns
    -Never had Fabregas
    -Never had Sterling
-Never had Baines for any of his returns

-He got Dier AFTER all his returns

The template is ruining fpl from an early stage this season IMO.

    Sterling / Fab / Siggy /ADM

Kun / Costa / Welbs or Pelle

The top 5 in my league all have this system, it's therefore almost impossible to take big leaps over your opponents.

Defence is where leagues will be won.

To the extent I'm considering dropping Fab > Downing and bringing in Baines & Ivan.

In fact, I'm very tempted to

I agree and am thinking the same thing.

Have just enough itb to drop Fab for Silva and bring in Baines for Moreno.

I have the template attack with the Welbeck option. I have Baines and am trying to work out how to get Ivan in. Part of me is even thinking about dropping Welbeck to a 4.5 and bringing Ivan into a 442 formation alongside Baines.

      1. GST
        • 12 Years
        11 years, 2 months ago

I like the sound of that.

Arse fixtures though, surely Welbs has to get decent returns.

        1. Mr Imp

          11 years, 2 months ago

My two concerns with my idea are a) Welbeck has good fixtures and has a golden chance to get good returns and b) Playing 4 out of 5 defenders means that one of them is likely to have a tough fixture

It is the only way I can see of getting both Ivan and Baines in without losing a big midfielder or striker though. I can't justify downgrading any of the midfield at the moment as they are all delivering quite well at the moment.

I scored 67 this GW which was a good score with costa (C)
Teams that I have seen that did better had

    A) Differential captain
    B) More premium defenders

Is going for ADM,Hazard,Sterling, (other big hitting mid) depending on fixtures a better captaincy tactic rather than just going "safe" with Costa/Aguero each week?
I have brought in a 2nd premium def (Baines) to go with Azpi. I also have the option to bring in Mangala if City keep going with the clean sheets. (would then run with Hutton/Duff as other 2 Bego is my GK)
Is getting a few premium defenders something anyone else is thinking of?

Captaining ADM or Siggy over Costa this week paid off. The week that Costa explodes and your midfield captain blanks will kill your rank due to Costa's high ownership.

Wildcard tinkering is a mathematical maze-if I sell Clyne tonight for 5.3 (after his rise last night) I can get Bertrand in instead for 5.2 before he rises tonight, which will ultimately give me the 0.1 I need to get Chambers, Aguero & Pelle instead of Cahill, Jelly, Mario (with a couple of other 'tinkers').
Phew- My head hurts already and wildcard has only been activated for 48 hours!!
At least I'll be kept busy during the IB!

From next week does anybody forsee a goal fest or two for Spurs in their next four ?...if so...would an Eriksen/Chadli double up in midfield be worth thinking about ?...or are they just gavourites for a few 1-0 wins?

misfiring strikers does not give hope for an explosion.
However I can see QPR being on the end of a real pasting if they keep playing the way they are

Chadli is enough for me - midfirld slots are too valuable atm.

Tbh I never have much luck with double ups...

Chadli alone is enough for me

Sterling, ADM, Chadli and Siggy will do nicely thank you

Two of...I wouldn't touch Ade but two mids is tempting the way they're set up.

Price rises accuracy.....fplstatistcs are asking for anyone that's played their wildcard already this season to submit their FPL ID to improve their price rise predictions.

Even though it's an external site it's gotta be good for us all if we can improve it.

    Krul,
    wilson, dummett, duff,hutton,wisdom
    adm,feb,siggy,stirlling
    pelle costa aguero
    1 ft , 3.1 in bank

i dunno why feel that i should have at least a defender from chelsea and one from southampton in my team. and even tho i have pelle i still think i should replace him with welback as soon as possible before the price rises up.

Welbeck can wait a week. Krul and Dummet for Adrian and Bertrand? Defence needs an overhaul 🙂

Why did I decide to do a PhD? As if I don't have enough stress in my life with FPL, i'm now doubly stressed!!!

Wish I had a job... or a life.

Did mine pre-FPL. It was a long 4 years!!!
Reckon a thesis could be written on FPL strategies though 🙂

That Keane assault on Haaland gets uglier every time I see it even after all these years. Scummer

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 7 FINAL RESULTS

    Not too late for once! Definitely getting better with my timing. Anywho, without further delay, here's this gameweek's Scout Picks Challenge final results;

    1st - L'Homme des Cavernes (71pts)
    2nd - MB10 (69pts)
    3rd - Kalix (68pts)

First time for any of them picking up points so well done, and welcome to the league table 😎

    The FFS' Scout Picks & Differentials together managed a mammoth 74 points, and thus unfortunately there is no bonus points for anyone this gameweek! Thus, we have an untouched top 6 consisting of;

1st - Smash Dem Guinea Pigs, Exilizer, Krzys, Timtastic03, Lionel's Messy Boxers & IniestaFiesta (4pts)

And we now also have 5 people sitting on 3 points, so there's plenty of chance for people to get into the game and get ahead! It's a tough game to win, but it just adds to the excitement! Until next week Friday, I bid thee farewell!

Wondering whether to jump on the Aguero train.

RMT says that my team is better off without Aguero. Front 3 would be Costa, Welb, Naismith.

But in my mini-leagues, no one has Aguero and basically everyone has Naismith/Welb and the similar MFs

    Thoughts anyone?

Yeah he's a cracking differential in the mini leagues. Go for it.

Watching MOTD2 atm, gutted that Chadli hit the post. An extra 5 points plus 3 baps would have put him on 50 points for the season so far.

Not bad for a 6m midfielder who missed the 1st game of the season.
