Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

    I've took a 4 point hit
    Out goes Moreno & Siggy
    In goes Baines & Jedinak
Wise move? Other could of been Tadic

No idea what to do... I know it's early but could I have some thoughts on this team please?

    --------------------Forster----------------
    ------Bardsley-----Clyne-----Duff-----
    --ADM----Sterling----Fab----Siggy--
    ----Costa-------Aguero-----Pelle-----

    McCarthy // Naylor // Boyd // Moore.

2FT and 0.5m ITB. Happy with my front 8 but can't squeeze Baines or another big defender in without downgrading an attacker. All thoughts appreciated.

that's a really nice team, do you fancy pelle>welbeck?

I really shouldn't with Pelle's fixtures but I have considered that. If i do that then I can afford a 5.9 defender for Bardsley... An extra 0.1 would've opened up a lot more potential transfers 🙁

Similar team and thinking, to get Baines im thinking Fab> Chadli or Tadic, but it seems crazy to lose Fab

I considered losing Fab too but with 51% ownership and Palace + QPR in the next 3 it seems silly. I was actually going to downgrade ADM before he went mental against Everton 😀

I've got the exact same front 8 bet Welbeck instead of Pelle, and was thinking of losing AdM too before Everton, be nice if someone could just borrow us 2 Mill 😀 everything would be sweet then a nice relaxing 2 weeks

Hmm kinda sick of Stoke defence if I'm honest. I could do Bardsley + Naylor > Azpi/Moreno + 4m but there aren't any good 4m defenders that I don't have. 🙁

I can appreciate your dilemma Innsie. I'd be taking that front 8 and expect the points to come from them . I think sometimes too much effort is made to squeeze one player in, and unless it's Costa it is generally not worth a hit.

I, personally, am getting Baines but to support an argument for not getting him: Everton are not keeping clean sheets, he just missed a penalty, and their fixtures are good, but not great.

Don't feel bad about not having him, especially if you end up robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Or ... Sterling > Downing and Bardsley > Baines

I am very happy with Baines and Aguero but have suffered a bit in the middle of the park. I guess I pretty much went with Baines and Tadic over Coloccini and ADM.

I feel a lot more secure having Baines but don't think it's worth getting him in for a hit.

Saw your post on Tomkins earlier, would be a steal at 4.5 but agree 5mil is a lot for a WHU defender.

Think you can find someone better than Bardsley but struggling to think who!

Cheers for the thoughts. I enjoyed Bardsley's 8 points against Newcastle but it probably is time he goes soon.

You're right about Baines, I actually don't think he'll do as well as people think he will, but I want him to feel more secure as you said. Defender goals are priceless in FPL, and if Everton remember how to defend then I'll probably plummet down the rankings since he's such a popular option now.

Bardsley looks like the weak link here alright Innsie. You're right. Very similar to my team. Just switch a few defenders. Looks like another boring transfer on the cards. Maybe get Chambers in early if you fancy him in the long run and save you a transfer next week.

          Bego

          Duff Baines Clyne
          Tadic Fab Sterling Siggy
          Costa Aguero Pelle
          Eliott Marney Wisdom Chester

used my free transfer but don't know what future moves to plan barring major injuries

            Looks very good.

No ADM might be worry if he keeps his form up, but you can't squeeze him in if you want to keep Baines and Kun.

I'd look to move Chester soon (look at his fixtures). I'm not a fan of Tadic FPL-wise either but with those fixtures I guess you have to keep him. An easy switch to Chadli in a couple of weeks could benefit you though. No other pressing concerns tbh, solid team.

yeah I had that worry about Chester too and was all ready to get rid but them he got his place back so am happy to hold him for a little longer.

you are right about ADM but I would prefer Aguero and Baines over him at the moment but if he keeps up these points ill have to get him in.

tadic is looking too good to ignore but if he doesn't start getting FPL points chadli is a very good and easy replacement!

              thanks Innsie!

      Hi Cap'n,
Similar team and will be grabbing Baines this week with 3.6 in the bank
      Bego, Gilks
      PVA, Naylor, Clyne, Duff, Dummett
      Sterling, Haz, Siggy, Downing, Marney

If Coleman is going to be fit then Terry >Coleman could be great, shame your .1 out of getting Baines , if you want Baines then Lovren to a decent cheapie to fund Terry to Baines the week after, Baines Clyne Chambers good defence for a while and Duff can cover Chambers this coming GW

which of these 5 defences would u go for? 🙂 thx.been tinkering w this all day.

    1.Aspi - Bertrand - Hutton - Moore - Wisdom
    2.kaboul - bertrand - clyne - moore - wisdom
    3.Kaboul - Bertrand - Chambers - Wilson - hutton
    4.Aspi - Kaboul - Chambers - Moore - Wisdom
    5.Baines - Wilson - Hutton - Moore - Wisdom **w/ this option 5, GK is Guzan + 4.0 whereas the other 4 option rotate (2) 4.5GK in Foster w/ Manone.

3, because they all look like first-choice.
      Wisdom - Gamoba competition
Moore - no clean sheets or goal threat
Azpi - very little attacking prowess and may rotate with Luis soon with midweek PL and Christmas coming up.
Baines - might lose clean sheet potential with Stones out and with Oviedo back also has competition (Martinez has said he will focus on EL this season so may rest Baines for easy PL games?)

mercy. feckl i at the beg o day i was leaning option 3 because its the most well rounded.
but then i was favoring option 1 just because of the CHE-Bertrand double w aspi/bert and hutton fixtures. moore and wisom RE JUST MERE BENCH IF OPT 1.

        u still favor 3 over 1?

it does seem like that but Chelsea have hardly been super-tight and clean sheet central so far. Plus I wouldn't want to play Azpi vs MU or Liv so maybe he isn't worth it in the short-term? If you go for 1 then you have nowhere to go if Moore is injured/continues being crap AND Wisdom is dropped - it would leave you with just 3 defenders. At least with Wilson and Kaboul their are lots of options for 4.5 and 5.0 to go for. BTW Wilson's fixtures are bad til mid-January IMO so I recommend going for another 4.5 (I'm assuming you;re on a Wildcard.)

yep on WC. agree, when aspi x mnu/liv id play moore or wisdom
wisdom i reckon gamboabak to bench. was just a one-off gm last gw.

but at the end of the day option 3 3.Kaboul - Bertrand - Chambers - Wilson - hutton is solid w/ all 5. spurs might just get it str8 and have good fixtures. IF he stays healthy.chambo might stop getin yc. hutton has excellent avl fixtures.

              rationale says 3.
              greed says 1.

              go with? hehe

I need some direction. 2FT, 2.8 in bank.

    -----------------Forster---------------------
    -------Moreno---Bertrand---PVA-------
    ----ADM---Fab---Sterling---Siggy----
    ----------Costa---Pelle---Ade----------

    McCarthy / Naylor / Hutton / Boyd

Am really happy with my front 8 except Ade. Here are two routes I could go:

    1. Ade -> Welbeck, PVA -> Baines. I would like to get Baines in, and replacing PVA is the best option due to fixtures and the rotation within my team.

    2. Ade -> Aguero, Moreno -> Chambers. Aguero is really expensive and is not as essential as Costa I feel. Has not scored more than 10 pts in a GW and often get subbed out early. But more people are getting him and his fixtures are tempting. Taking Moreno out allows me to afford Aguero, and Chambers rotates best but have to sit out the next GW.

All fixtures are pretty cushy for Aguero. And City smashed Tottenham and United last year in the same fixtures. But I agree on paper not the best fixtures.

Spurs and United @ home over the next 3 is pretty cushy for Man City. Aguero had 4 goals in the corresponding fixtures last year. I guess Spurs look a bit tighter, but with all Manchester United's injuries that fixture looks full of goals.

My concern w/ Aguero (I own him) isn't the tough games in the schedule; it's that he's at risk of being rested in the easier fixtures in and amongst CL game weeks.

1FT and £0.5m in the bank.

    Bego
    Terry Clyne Lovren
    ADM Sterling Siggy Tadic
    Costa Aguero Ulloa

    Bench - Duff, Chambers, Marney

    A) Save FT or at least wait until after internationals
    B) Lovren > Bertrand tonight before price rises, which creates just enough for Terry > Baines next week

    1. TorresMagic™

Another puzzler. Gives you enough for Terry to Baines alright but you may want shot of Ulloa by then or even want to ditch an injury after the internationals. If you def want Bertrand in I would do it now.
