634x258 Fixtures

As we patiently sit out the Premier League hiatus, we take a look at whatโ€™s in store from the fixture list over the next four to six Gameweeks. As always, our first instalment highlights the teams with the best looking fixtures to come. We see that Everton and Arsenal are about to embark on an easy ride, while the schedule continues to smile kindly on Southampton and Liverpool.

Everton

โ€œfrisking

The Toffeesโ€™ tough opening schedule has left them hovering above the relegation zone, an ignominious sequel to the heady heights of last season. But with the fixtures finally turning in their favour, Roberto Martinez will be hopeful of getting more points on the board and Fantasy managers will be looking for a ride on their coat-tails. Three easy-looking home encounters (AVL, SWA, WHM) plus trips to Burnley and Sunderland in the next six look ripe for the picking.

With just one clean sheet from their opening seven, and poor underlying defensive stats to back up that lack of resilience, the likes of Phil Jagielka and Tim Howard may need to earn back faith in many quarters, especially with John Stones potentially set for a spell on the sidelines. Leighton Baines, however, has stepped up his attacking returns to dispense with the need for clean sheets and the Kirkby spot-kick specialist has a mini-bandwagon amongst our community after scoring or assisting in four of the last five.

In midfield, injury to Kevin Mirallas robs us of the most likely contender for our affections, but could put the spotlight on Aiden McGeady โ€“ with a goal and assist so far he could present a bargain if he can inject some consistency into his game. Up top, Fantasy managers have two ends of the spectrum to choose from. Steven Naismith is still available for a pittance and has four goals already, while Romelu Lukaku will be hoping to use these fixtures to cement his patchy form and return to his role as a full-strength Fantasy force.

Arsenal

โ€œfrisking

Bested once again by his nemesis Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger will be keen to put last weekend behind him and focus instead on the delights of a run of fixtures that look positively mouth-watering for Fantasy managers. In the next six Gameweeks, home matches against Hull and Burnley combine with trips to Sunderland, Swansea and West Brom to create a landscape ripe for investment.

In defence, Calum Chambers presents a conundrum. Seemingly nailed-on for almost a full 1.0 less than any other option, his propensity for picking up yellow cards sees him sit out the first of those fixtures, with further suspensions likely if he doesnโ€™t calm down. With that said, it may be that the relative consistency of Wojciech Szczesny is more to some managersโ€™ tastes as a route into Arsenalโ€™s backline.

In midfield, weโ€™ve yet to see a real alternative to the injured Aaron Ramsey emerge; Alexis Sanchez has been quite impressive but a couple of rests so far cast some doubt over his pitch time, while Theo Walcott is likely to be eased back into the squad as he was last season. Thereโ€™s no such dilemma in attack, though โ€“ Danny Welbeckโ€™s Champions League hat-trick and assured minutes make him a difficult proposition to resist at 7.3 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Southampton

โ€œfrisking

Defeat at Tottenham was a blot on an otherwise hugely impressive debut copybook for Ronald Koeman. Sitting third in the league, the Saints have five Gameweeks of great fixtures left in the tank before the heavyweights come knocking. Three home clashes in the next four against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester plus trips to Hull and Aston Villa all look ripe for Fantasy points.

The Southampton defence has been fantastic value so far, with a double-up even proving to be a viable tactic. Fraser Forster between the sticks is only slightly overshadowed by the similarly priced pair of full-backs โ€“ Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand are both offering goals, assists and bonus points in addition to clean sheets. In midfield, Dusan Tadic has been threatening to open his account for some time now, while Sadio Mane showed a lot of promise against Spurs. Up top, though, itโ€™s all about Graziano Pellรจ โ€“ the Italian has notched four goals and an assist so far and ought to prosper further with these fixtures.

Liverpool

โ€œfrisking

Despite edging past bogey team West Brom, Liverpool look a shadow of last yearโ€™s side and Brendan Rodgers has work to do to help his new signings gel. Certainly, the Redsโ€™ boss has the fixtures to help his cause โ€“ย trips to QPR, Newcastle and Crystal Palace combine with home matches against Hull and Stoke, with only the arrival of Chelsea spoiling the view over the next six Gameweeks.

Still with just one clean sheet to show for a bevy of decent fixtures, the Liverpool defence is widely considered a busted flush for Fantasy purposes. Alberto Moreno has failed to deliver on his attacking forays since his goal at White Hart Lane and his owners are losing patience but these fixtures could well punish the hasty. Raheem Sterling is the key man in midfield, with three goals and two assists and looks likely to add to that tally against this opposition. However, with a goal and three assists, Jordan Henderson is quietly rivaling his team-mate, and at nearly 3.0 cheaper in the FPL game, is a valid alternative. Steven Gerrardโ€™s set-piece duties ensure a steady stream of points but itโ€™s also worth noting that he leads the midfielders’ table for bonus points, with nine accrued. Up top, Mario Balotelli is yet to get off the ground and hasnโ€™t really justified his high price tag, but the imminent return of strike partner Daniel Sturridge could help his cause if Rodgers reverts to a front two.

Also Consider

West Brom
After a shaky start, Alan Irvineโ€™s side are finally showing signs of potential. The next four Gameweeks could help him propel the Baggies to respectability in the league table; after Man United roll up to The Hawthorns, they have home clashes against Crystal Palace and Newcastle plus a trip to Leicester. Such fixtures could be profitable for a defence that has shown increasing resilience, though budget friendly Andre Wisdom appears to be under threat from Cristian Gamboa, making Craig Dawson the best option, with his added goal threat. No one really stands out in midfield but, up front, Saido Berahino has scored five goals and now appears to have penalty duties to make a mockery of his lowly price tag.

Aston Villa
A Gameweek 8 trip to Everton concludes a horrific stretch of fixtures for the Villains. After thatโ€™s out the road, the fixture ticker looks altogether bluer for Paul Lambertโ€™s side, with trips to QPR, West Ham and Burnley as well as home showdowns with Tottenham and Southampton. Those matches may well bring the Villa defence back to the table as an option; so impressive in the opening weeks, Alan Hutton looks poised to be good value once again, while Brad Guzan offers a worthy exit plan for any managers displeased with their current shot-stopper.

Villaโ€™s midfielders have yet to really come to the party but the return to fitness of Belgian striker Christian Benteke is a huge boost to their prospects. Without a goal in the last three, though, Lambertโ€™s outfit are best monitored for now, with the likes of Andreas Weimann looking to replicate his run of two strikes and an assist in the opening three before the points dried up.

Leicester
Held to a draw by fellow promoted club Burnley, Nigel Pearsonโ€™s side have had some highs and lows during their return to the top flight. The Foxes have been steadily picking up Fantasy interest and the forthcoming fixtures could be profitable โ€“ home matches against West Brom and Sunderland combine with trips to Newcastle, Swansea, Southampton and QPR.

Such a schedule may even bring points for a defence with just a single shut-out so far: Liam Moore is the standout option for 4.0, while Jeffrey Schlupp presents an intriguing out-of-position prospect โ€“ย originally a striker, he returned to the left of midfield last weekend and has picked up a goal and assist so far, though his pitch time needs monitoring. In midfield, Esteban Cambiasso turned out for the reserves earlier today after recovering from the knock that forced him out of action last weekend, whilst up front, Leonardo Ulloa has struck five times to present incredible value at 5.5 and Jamie Vardy picked up his fifth assist against Burnley.

Not too keen on the keepers ( terrible fixtures for Sunderland ) and Wisdom ( playing time not certain ). Sakho looks good value but if anything happens to him you'll probably need two transfers to get a replacement - not much else on offer at that price. Other than that it's great.

nice team, sakho differential and you can get cisse at 5.9 if he keeps his form up. That´s a good backup imo.
Ulloa and dont forget naismith with his spot nailed on looked good, lively fellow against utd @ 5.2 is nice one + everton fix are looking good

Thanks mate. I'm steering clear of Cisse. Naismith would be my next choice depending how soon a trade may need to be made as Eve have great fixtures. Ulloa next because i can half see him keeping up his form.

Nice, good stuff ๐Ÿ™‚ Sakho is in good form but I'd like to squeeze Welbeck in there instead. You'd have to lose Ivan though...

    Price Change Websites Report:

There are four main players currently bragging for accuracy rights with regards to price changes. Below are my observations after looking at each site for the past 7 days with regards to correct predictions for risers and fallers. Marks are given out of 10 for reliability.

    FFF - Fantasy Football Fix
    http://fantasyfootballfix.com/price/

    Rises: 9/10
    Fallers: 7/10

    FPL - FPL Statistics
    http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/Home/IndexWG

    Risers: 9/10
    Fallers: 5/10

    Total FPL
    http://totalfpl.com/pricechanges

    Risers: 5/10
    Fallers: 2/10

CTC - Fiso Crack the Code

    Risers: 4/10
    Fallers: 3/10

In conclusion, currently FFF is the best place to check, although it's worth noting each site is constantly monitoring and changing their algorithm to make progress in what is proving a very difficult science this year.

      Chambers.
If I was on a wildcard, I'm not sure I'd get him, even without the suspension.
4.6 represents superb value for an Arsenal defender, but being a yellow-card magnet, and not showing much in the way of attacking intent means that he's unlikely to get much in the way of bonus points. His only bonus points this year are of the jammy variety (came on after Leicester had scored, and earned the clean sheet for playing 65 mins).
At what point does the extra price for Gibbs become worthwhile?

Agreed. Although I would go further to suggest no Arsenal defence is worthwhile.

Cheap: Chambers - No.. for reasons you stated

Mid: Gibbs - No.. better value elsewhere at SOT and TOT

Exp: Koscielny - No.. premium defenders need a regular attacking threat for my liking

Yeah he's actually had a few Jagielka style shots. Link up play with Ox is excellent so maybe can get more of that if Ox gets more gametime now. Jammy bonus points alright and a yellow card magnet but surely he cant keep that up either. Hoping he's learnt his lesson with this ban and will calm down a bit ๐Ÿ˜†

Reminds me of when Evans was 4.5m a few years back, still proved to be worthwhile. I think Chambers might surprise a few this season and improve his offensive play.

Bertrand and Siggy were two days ago.

I don't think Ramsey is worth it anymore with Walcott around the corner (and Arsenal not really firing on many cylinders) and Dier isn't really very relevant IMO.

"I like that in the last two days" ... "Bertrand and Siggy were two days ago" ??

Anyway, I agree Ramsey and Dier aren't relative much to active players. Just put those 4 in as they all had relatively high ownership %.

International Windows are always boring until the qualifiers are over.

If Ramsey wasn't injured, he might have moved back "in the hole" now that Ozil is probably out until next year. But, yeah, when Walcott is back he'll be THE Arsenal representative, like ADM for Man U

      Transfer for this week

      A) Wisdom -> Bertrand

      B) Sterling -> Sanchez

      C) Pelle -> Welbeck

      D) somehow try and get Baines in. (Probably involves c plus some other moves)

B and C are potentially frustrating moves, avoid.

B is an interesting idea, but i don't realky like it.
Of those, I'd prefer A. But it depends whether the rest of your defence is playable this week. WBA have decent fixtures upcoming, (explained in this very article!). If it works, you coild hold on to the transfer and wait for next gw to get Baines..

I like United's chances against West Brom but after that, the fixtures get tougher for them. By that time, you can try selling DDG to free up funds so you can improve that slot occupied by Wanyama. No need to WC just yet.

Yeah, still getting my research in nightly but... for me...
Mids: Broich a must. One of Koren, Duff, Mooy. McGlinchey has got to be best value. Roly Bonevacia coz he is cheap and Nix.
Fwds: Villa has to be in for first 10. Berisha or Janko in my eyes will battle for golden boot.
Goalie: Young for first 6 weeks or so due to injury. Italiano as Moss goes on Internationals.
And DEF: stack it with cheapies. But be wary of Mariners, Nix sadly, Jets... So awaiting team lists. Goodwin is oop. Risdon, Geria and Hamil look like they could start

      ADM/Sterling/Siggy/Downing/Marney
      Pelle/Costa/Aguero

Save FT and do Chester + DDG -> Baines + Guzan next week?
My concern is that I wouldn't be able to upgrade Downing in the near future.

      Thanks..

Waiting sounds like a good plan in order to get Baines.
Who are you looking at for a Downing replacement? Would it be worth foregoing Baines?

        Good moves. Keep Stewart.

A guy in my ML had the foresight to bring in Berahino a few weeks ago. Quite the coup. We're all too deep in template-land to even contemplate such an idea.

Foresight and luck are one and the same. Depends if you did it, or someone else. So in this case, total luck.

        'template-land' ๐Ÿ˜€

        FFS is definitely template land.

      Begovic
      Ivan, Clyne, Moreno
      Hazard, Sterling, Tadic Siggy
      Costa, Welbeck, Pelle

      PvA, Moore, Zaha

      2 FTs & £2.4m itb.

0.1 short of direct swap PvA โžก Baines so thinking about taking this opportunity to downgrade Zaha (for Boyd may be?) using another FT. Thoughts?

I had the same issue with my team and ended up get Baines for Moreno as felt too much was spent in defence and Liverpool had only kept 1 clean sheet all season so far. Keep the spare cash for later

I just replied to your post that was from like 6 hours ago ๐Ÿ˜† Sounds like its bedtime!

How much are you getting from selling Zaha?

Up to 5.0? If so you could get someone like Jedinak who is nailed on and has spot-kick duties or perhaps a punt on someone like Dorrans who has 3 nice fixtures coming up after this week. Though if you need the extra little cash you might as well just go with Boyd

          ๐Ÿ˜€

After these 2 contemplated moves 0.9 will be left over in the bank. Might be useful in future?

Extra money is always useful I suppose! I went the different route and invested a little extra in my 5th mid but still up for debate if that's going to turn out to be a good idea or not

Previously I thought it was a good idea so brought in Zaha on my WC. See how it turned out! Still think Downing @ 5.5 was a good bet for 5th MF but I missed the train. I'm happy to start my current front 7 week in week out. If I do these moves then Boyd will be my bench warmer (2nd sub behind Moreno for now). Plan is to do Moreno โžก Chambers in few weeks so that I can get Di Maria or Aguero in future.

You could get Chadli for Zara if you did the Moreno to Baines move

Or Downing if you're willing to pay the extra over Boyd

They are in awkward price range to be honest. The thing is I can't find myself benching any of my current front 7 for a while so even if I get someone like Chadli/Downing as a 5th MF 75% of the time they may have to warm the bench. If I get Aguero & Di Maria in future then I may get one of these 2 players as a 4th MF.

      Cheers, Jim.

Yes, that did cross my mind but I want to give few more chances to Moreno having brought him in @ £5.5m. He's a very attacking player you know & when Ivan goes to Old Trafford in GW 9 I'll start Moreno. Besides having great 8 upfront is just pain in the arse.
