Don’t get us wrong – we’re not labelling this latest droning session as “essential” listening. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that the concept of essential players has dominated the airwaves at Scout towers over the past week.

In this latest episode, Granville and I take on this meaty subject, whilst chewing over the importance of ownership and spit out the semblance of an opinion on both. Around that main course, we take on the usual bevvy of regulars with the usual haphazard panache.

Essential? Not quite, not even on a rainy Thursday night.

    Tossing up the Pochettino effect vs the Kaboul effect. Hmm.

    Spurs saying the 11-1 score last season isn't a worry but they said that regarding how they lost 9-0 on aggregate to Liverpool last season as well and it continued on this season.

      Downing and Naylor for me.

      Burnley have to start getting points somewhere and their previously renowned defensive strength will most likely dissipate into multiple goals conceded each week, as was signalled by their last result. Meanwhile, WHU have looked strong going forward and Downing has been in good form.

          Could easily be both Ox and Santi benched, with them playing that 4-1-4-1 like they did at the start of the season. A week or two is very optimistic regarding Wally too.

    Anybody round these parts been doing any analysis on keeper options recently?

    I've been stuck with DDG since the start of the season and I'm keen to ship him following this GW. So far Guzan seems the best option considering price and fixtures, but I'm not completely sold on him.

    Any other useful options around, or is there a rotating pair I should be considering up to the January WC?

        Not a bad shout, but I really don't have the funds to do the upgrade. I'm also keen to avoid investing too much in a keeper as they don't really provide too much value.

          I only have Heaton(burn). They play 6/9 at home with 2 of the other 3 being qpr/stoke.

        Foster is another of the main options I've been considering. It does annoy me that there's cheaper options in defence for both Villa and WBA though.
