Don’t get us wrong – we’re not labelling this latest droning session as “essential” listening. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that the concept of essential players has dominated the airwaves at Scout towers over the past week.

In this latest episode, Granville and I take on this meaty subject, whilst chewing over the importance of ownership and spit out the semblance of an opinion on both. Around that main course, we take on the usual bevvy of regulars with the usual haphazard panache.

Essential? Not quite, not even on a rainy Thursday night.

    I know he has burnt a lot of us over the last few seasons, and maybe that's why there has been zero talk of him over the international break, but Silva is definitely starting to seem like an "explosion imminent" kind of player at the moment. His stats over the past 4 gameweeks look quite impressive, and with the kind run of fixtures coming up........

    Just wish he was he was 9 and not 9.1. Or is that a good thing so i can't get him and he is fooling us again?

      I've owned him all season long and it's certainly been frustrating. He's never going to be a Bale/Walcott destroyer, but I think he's in the same tier as Fabregas and Di Maria as a prospect for significantly cheaper.

      i owned him all last season and he chipped away quite nicely......he always seemed to get points when it was a low scoring week and bailed me out so i kept faith...probably didnt justify his price tag but i feel this season with yaya less influential, silva can step up and get more points this term

        Still a few nice ones before the bad 3. I think their squad is underrated. Their starting 11 is strong. If they can keep some stability i would back them for a top 6 finish.

      I'd double up on Chelsea defence. You just know when Mourinho's side is in good defensive form, and when they are, doubling up is more than a viable option.

      Probably Hazard, just because of the fixtures. Maybe I'm just being stubborn, but having missed the early boat on Di Maria, I'm content to wait a couple weeks and see how United do against teams with decent defenses.
