With West Brom and Man United set to see out the Gameweek tomorrow, we delve into the data from the nine matches played so far. Unsurprisingly, Man City, Southampton and West Ham’s in-form front men are on this evening’s agenda, whilst we also cast an eye over a couple of improving north London-based midfielders.
Urgh. I don't want rid of any of my mids just yet and if I downgrade Ivan to get Pelle it's for an as yet unknown 5m defender. Might just have to not get him and do Ulloa to Sakho
I did that exact move (first one) for free. Ivan + Ulloa ---> Rose + Pelle. Feels good
What do you reckon Man u's lineup will be tomorrow? With Jones coming back it could be
----------- De Gea ----------------
Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
------------- Blind -----------------
Herrera --------------- ADM
------------- Mata -----------------
--- Falcao --------- RVP
Any other suggestions?Looks about right
Possibly Januzaj in there.
Think he will probrably be subbed on if anything
Me too, but who knows? Just have a feeling that Mata isn't a favourite anymore.
likely to be that
This will be it imo too
Probably that, although there are rumours of Januzaj playing from his agent.
nailed it really.
After 4 or 5 years of FF this is my first week owning Baines - Having Coleman last year felt almost as good.
(Also I think my curry chips are repeating on me ...... doh)I still haven't owned him. Considered getting him for a hit last week, I should have.
Is Arsenal's squad really so shallow that they only have two (proper) centre-halfs(three if you include Chambers)? Not even anyone available to step up from the youth team to prevent Monreal having to play there?
Diaby centre-back anyone?they are an absolute shambles at back. no planning whatsoever. that bellerin guy when he played champs league really looked like a youth team player. amazed by their utter lack of strength in depth.
And Wenger's completely liable for that, they struggled enough even with Vermaelen as centre-back cover last season, now he's gone they're extremely shallow.
Bellerin isn't that bad
he really is that bad. maybe in the future he'll be better, but i thought he was appalling in camps league. didn't see him yesterday, maybe he was ok there.
No he isn't. Like you say you've seen one game, where he was thrown in at the deep end against one of the world's best attacks (although they've been shite lately...). He looked very handy at Watford
fair enough, i haven't seen much, but from the small bit i've seen he was woeful. i'm sure he's better than that, or he wouldn't be getting a chance. still the team should have an experienced guy to step in.
it's one thing a team going into a season with 6 senior defenders but when it's a team in europe and with arsenal's injury record (and kieron gibbs!) it's complete negligence
This!!! With all due respect to Wenger he failed to do his job last summer
Not to mention the inexperienced Chambers too, he's done well in fairness but he's been far too relied upon for a 19-year-old for supposed title contenders.
Well - we lost two and gained two.
I agree that we're short but just pointing that out.
Well, we have 3 including Chambers. Hayden is good enough to play as well (from the u21 squad).
Interestingly, Chelsea are even worse off in terms of defensive cover. While Arsenal have 6 first team defenders, Chelsea have 5 (6 if you count Zouma). Don't hear people saying anything about them because they aren't injured. Its because Azpi and Ivan can cover more than one position, agree they are one short though. An injury to Terry for example would mean only Zouma left as a defensive sub
Yup but Chambers covers those those two as well. Putting it in a simple comparison (in terms of what positions they can play):
Terry - Per
Cahill - Kos
Ivan - Chambers
Luis - Monreal
And then you have Azpi, Debuchy and Gibbs. And Zouma. So although both are quite small number-wise I think Chelsea have much better quality with their cover
I'm not debating quality to be honest - gets too confusing / abstract. Zouma (who's a kid with no PL experience) basically gets them on even pegging - they're both woefully short.
Both short agree. Probably only by one player each though - a quality cb back up. Could be worse.
Yeah - atleast you have a good injury history.
Us on the other hand... Sigh.
I suppose luck plays a factor I suppose, but you're short at the back nonetheless. Chelsea also have that Aké lad, and a fair few out on loan they could recall too.
Definitely short - just pointing out Chelsea are probably worse off in terms of depth.
You can't recall until January - we have Jenkinson out on loan too as an example.
Struggling to see any quality options in defense for under 6m.
Don't trust Tottenham's defense, not convinced by Jagielka and already have all the Southampton players I want.Yeah its a quandary. Plump for cheapies, spend elsewhere.
Chambers?
That's what I did but don't go uber cheap like me. Unless you fancy 1 pointers each week. I just downgraded Hazard to improve on my uber cheap defence
Filipe Luis for 3 games, some will say they aren't the best fixtures but Chelsea usually shut down for those games so i don't even think it's a bad thing
United's fullbacks might be good value once they get past some dodgy fixtures as they should at least prove to be goal/assist friendly. That's still a while away though...
are transfers leading to starting XI change of
wisdom+sterling>ivanovic+welbeck
worth -8How does that work?
Absolutely not.
Bench changes Coloccini gone from bench and Wisdom to bench and Ulloa gone from bench and Boyd in to bench
Foster
Baines Clyne
DiMaria Fabregas Sigurdsson Tadic
Aguero Pelle
Krul Boyd Wisdom HuttonStart again and rephrase.
Have you ever know a season where so many new players to the league are all scoring so heavily.
Falcao
Pelle
Sakho
De maria
Tadic
All off to amazing starts.Wouldn't say Falcao has been scoring heavily as for now. Hope last weekends goal will be the first of many. Good point though
Falcao has one goal... I'd hold off on that.
Assists count too you know?
Well yeah - but you said scoring so heavily (unless you were referring to FPL points?). In any case, its been 3 games for him (same for ADM but ADM has been exceptional) and he's had decent but unspectacular results.
Tadic did not do much until last week despite his underlying stats he was not bringing in the points
*Sanchez
Sakho or Berahino?
Really?
Yes. Really.
Sakho has been brilliant at his price point.
Well Sakho has City next so maybe just hold fire and then him.
Sakho... great fixtures.
Best defender for 6.5m? Sorry I can't spare any more
Bertrand
Clyne or Bertie or Luis short term, Cahill or Terry long term
Got Forster, Clyne and Tadic sorry
Azpi when he is back.
How long is he out? Hoping this might be Luis 'chance
A Falcao hat-trick tomorrow would make things very interesting transfer wise.
He's my captain so I very much doubt this will happen.
me too...
Any suggestions for this team please - 2FT 0.5 itb
Krul (McCarthy)
Clyne Bertrand Naylor Wilson Duff
ADM Fab Sterling Sig Boyd
Kun Costa Pelle
Thinking Krul to Guzan, and not sure whether to use the other. Maybe Wilson to Chambers? Any other ideas?
CheersYou have a pretty template (by which I mean good and solid) team. The only move I would be wanting to make is to get in Baines. Improving your keeper is prudent and worthy, but finding a way to wedge in Baines could make an impact.
Assuming the Krul to Guzan move is locked it, would mean Sterling to Chadli Wilson to Baines (-4). Not sure it's worth losing Sterling, what do you reckon?
Naylor to Chambers for me.
I know Swansea only have one more good fixture, but was planning on holding him for that then looking to ship. Slightly concerned Arsenal have only kept once cleanie so far incl. conceding against Palace and now Hull
Don't worry too much about that. Everton were supposed to be one of the worst defenses in the league until this weekend. If the fixture sounds right for a top 4 team, go for it by all means.
Alternately, Sterling to Tadic Clyne to Baines? (-4)
would sterling to Tadic free up enough funds for Baines?
.1 off Sterling to Tadic Clyne to Baines
Unless I go for a 4.5 keeper instead of Guzan, then I can do it
My Squad:
Mannone Krul
Chambers Lovren Baines (Wisdom) (Hutton)
Hazard Sterling Sigurdsson Henderson (Cattermole)
Costa Aguero Welbeck
- Brought in Baines for Dier with my FT
- Do I take a hit for Bertrand for Lovren? Lovren will fall if not unflagged tonight and Bertrand will rise.Fabregas (8) + Bardsley (1) > Chadli (2) + Baines (15)
8 points better off, two in-form players with great fixtures and 1.5m in the bank for another defensive upgrade 😎Very nice, bet you're a happy man right now!
I'd be happier if I had Boyd first sub, not Duff 😥
Happy with the transfers though, people are so worried about losing Fab, yes he's the top scoring mid but he's not explosive. Going without him for a month or two isn't going to hurt you if it allows a big upgrade elsewhere.Just gone for him on a WC myself. I like the steady flow and while he won't hurt you too much not having him, you know you won't have to worry about getting rid over a similar period.
Yeah that's true. I'll get him back on the Jan WC, or maybe before depending on how things pan out.
WC played, 0.2 left over... thoughts?
Guzan, McCarthy
Baines, Bertrand, Chambers, N Taylor, Wisdom
Tadic, Fabregas, ADM, Eriksen, Boyd
Aguero, Pelle, Welbeckhow are you going to get costa back?
I don't plan to at the moment, and I guess Aguero will be injured at some stage in the not so distant future.
This is obviously pure speculation on my part but I can see a Costa red at some stage and with all the niggly injuries, it actually feels quite nice not having to worry about him
ok, if that's the plan. it's a nice team. mccarthy only played cos green was sick, but i'm guessing you know that, and who knows he might take his place anyway.
Yeah, it's a big call, I realise. But with Pelle and Welbz providing great value it's something I can live with at the mo. Could come back to bite me of course, but it's also allowed me to get the midfielders/defenders I want.
As for McCarthy, I've just plumped for a random 4.0 really... guess it's possible he could displace Green at some stage.
Back? It has been known to not ever have had him. 😉
maybe by the points-averse amongst us
hey lads, what do you think:
a. Welbeck, Chambers
b. Pelle, Wisdom (have to do before prices rises)?Prefer A) b/c unless Wisdom gets shifted out left then he may suffer from rotation with Gamboa.
Be nice to wait but, if you *have* to make a move then A's the way go...pelle rising tonit. I could do b later, but have to change Wisdom for 4.0
b
Which team is better imagining all are healthy and playing?
Forster Myhill
Baines Bertrand Chambers Hutton Dummett
Barkley/Chadli Fab Siggy ADM 4.5
Falcao Pelle Costa
OR
Forster Myhill
Coleman Bertrand Chambers Hutton Dummett
Diame Fab Siggy ADM 4.5
Falcao Pelle AgueroSo what's the best GK combination if there is one?
Howard/Forster.
Let's make expensive GK combos cool!
Neuer Courtois
I've had Foster/ Krul since the start of the season.
Been okay for a 9.0 combination... has 4/8 clean sheets and some good home/away rotation for a good while
F**k it. Just sold Fab. He was quiet enough until Palace went down to 10 and he'll surely be deep v Utd and possibly 'pool.
hum
my condolences
🙂 I'll sell di Maria if needs be. Can't have em all
If Ramires is fit to return. i would expect Fab to be the most advanced of Ramires,, Matic, Fab in a
4-3-3 against utd/poolNever had him . . . could explain a lot . . . but seriously, he is just a player, and other players get assists and goals too. It's all about getting in someone else who will more than replace those lost points. I think Fab can be replaced.
good move
I just don't get this
I didn't either last week. I want Pelle. There's enough games left in Sou run to make it not Knee jerk. I didn't like the look of downgrading Ivan and having Bertrand as my main defender with the rest 4-4.5. I'll probably regret it. I might not. It's only a wee jersey game
Tbf I didn't get the stuff about getting rid of Sterling either last week and I've just sold him 🙂
Good man
After match interview he said a player was marking him tightly (his only job was do disrupt him) until the last 10-15 min when CP changed tactics...
A) Falcao
B) ADM + De Gea
Who'll score more points?I'd go B
you'd be wrong.
lol, why ask then?
🙂 guessing you're a Falcao owner
Thoughts on Siggy -> Tadic?
I'd give Siggy atleast the Leicester game. Tadic won't score as highly again all season imo
This may be true, but the numbers say he is a keeper. In all the right places making all the right passes.
You'll keep Tadic only for four games...
No brainer IMO. Siggy very lucky to have scored as well as he has.
Really? Been instrumental in everything Swansea does 😯
Set up at least 2 goal-scoring opportunities in the first half and had a chance himself against Stoke today, was so unlucky to not get returns...To be fair not seen the game. My statement I'd based upon the members figures not from watching actual footy, so you may be right.
Just wrong.
Lol
You could have missed his big haul. I would wait for the Leicester game.
I have Tadic and am getting Siggy back GW 13.
Nothing worse than when you cover the spread on NFL and the opposing team converts a 4th quarter 4th down TD
What on earth does that mean?
He took the points on an NFL bet and the opposing team covered with a really unlikely touchdown.
Its like doing a football team to win by 3 or more goals, they are 3 nil up 85th minute, and the losing team scores a consolation, from a cheap goal, blows your bet but the winning team are still happy to shut out the game and not go that etra mile you now need to win your bet.
Nicely explained.
Sympathy, but pretty sure, for example, that QPR reckon they had a worse afternoon than that.
Like an American listening to test match special I haven't got a clue what you're on about 🙂
So who is thinking of getting rid of Ivan to get sako in?
That's so random, I'm guessing you?
Yep
As random as it may be, I am in that position too. I have Naismith up front and am considering Ivan--> Cahill to fund Naismith --> Sakho.
Good or bad idea?
Need 4 points from Wisdom to hit century #firstworldproblems
Good shootin' 🙂
Got rid of cesc for silva last week..look like I should have waited another week
Assuming Costa is out:
Costa + PVA > baines + welbz for -4 is worth it yeah?Lovren to Bertrand for a hit?
As a Liverpool fan I must say...we can't keep a cleansheet to save our lives.
Or score it seems like
Wouldn't take a hit to do that though
Errrr no.
can you not use a sub and wait until next week?
Not for a hit. You'd need a clean sheet just to break even
Who's got or considering to get Coleman AND Baines?
Coleman is crazily priced imo
I can't see a reason to do so... Howard+Baines/Coleman maybe if u want to double up!
I have decent TV, that's the only reason I'm considering it.
What does a television have to do with it? Don't get it...
I'm not certain if you were sarcastic.
In case you weren't, he's talking about team value.
Is Obertan essential?
More essential than Ben Arfa.
Demi asking the tough questions
Worth a sticky? Tadic got one
You really aren't keen on Tadic?
I truly can't think of a better mid to own when factoring price against those key underlying stats.
I don't think there's a better choice *stats* per million than him at the moment.Nah, nothing against Tadic. Just confused how he's getting bought in by so many people now after his big haul. Nobody labelled him essential before the massive haul against a really abject side in Sunderland. People were frustrated with his output, and now he's become the most sought after mid.
Funny, I got him a few weeks ago & was *fine* with the assist here & clean sheet point there. For 7.5 what more could I ask for? Just turn out some returns & let the Costa's & Aguero's do the heavy lifting. 😉
I must say, was over joyed when I found out he was on pens during their midweek game a while back...
Although, I do understand that the overreaction here is a bit much, & will be equally as stupid when he doesn't score 20+ pts next week.
Looking forward to the stream of "Lolz @ Tadic owners" comments.Indeed, perfectly happy with people like yourself owning him, and fair play on not selling like others did. You deserved his haul, and like you say, he just needs to turn out decent returns and let the big guns do their stuff. It's just the overreaction which i'm getting it. Pens a great appeal to him. I just have no room right now, and happy enough with Pelle on his own. Tadic could do well in the next three, but fixtures are about to stiffen up so from my point of view, no real rush to get him in on the back of the Sunderland game.
Agree on all front here.
GW13+ will get ugly for Southampton in general, & those who have Forster & Clyne may be in an even worse spot.
First time I heard someone calling a spade a spade, and a shovel a shovel in regards to tadic in fpl.
I got rid of him two weeks ago and had him since gw2 I was fed up waiting!
brought him in for ozil last week so yes.
who does he play for?
No. But wiping your hole is.
nonessential
Would you keep Sterling or Fab? Only can have 1....ok go!
Fab
Fab
fab.
Fab
Sterling
Fabregas
Fab.
Fab
So Sterling it is. Lol!
Thanks guys!
Four game weeks until Southampton are facing this run: MCI, ars, MUN, bur, EVE, cry, CHE, ARS, mun.
Probably worth bearing that in mind if you're thinking about replacing quality midfielders with Tadic or doubling/tripling up on Southampton. These may be short term purchases...I'll worry about that in four weeks time!
Given that I don't have a single Soton player, I am trying to take comfort from the upcoming turn in fixtures.
Playing blocks of 3-5 fixtures and all that. 😉
I'm considering a series of gradual fundraising transfers to fund Pelle>Costa around this time frame. I had a lucky strike by executing Costa>Aguero Friday night. I want Costa back in, but it will take time (my WC is gone). I may miss out on CHE v QPR as a result of this activity, but Aguero's explosion was a nice reward.
