With West Brom and Man United set to see out the Gameweek tomorrow, we delve into the data from the nine matches played so far. Unsurprisingly, Man City, Southampton and West Ham’s in-form front men are on this evening’s agenda, whilst we also cast an eye over a couple of improving north London-based midfielders.

Hopefully Mourinho gives us a better update on Costa in midweek after Maribor. Should know more on his condition

Problem is Aguero's price is getting a bit out of control...but with so much money tied up in Costa, I guess it's prudent to wait.

Pellegrini has managed him well compared to last season, hopefully meaning Dzeko starts in Russia or Aguero comes off early.

100% chance Costa watches that mid-week game from his couch at home.

75% chance he's *fit* for United.

Note: If he's not there for the Manchester game, then I think we can officially *panic*...

Its key IMO. Brought Lampard in as a short term punt vs Villa when he was two short of breaking Bobby Ramblings record. He had scored more goals vs Villa than any other club. He scored 2. Players have teams and grounds the like to play against and on.

The fear is what can happen without him ... we've had the scare-mongering from Mourinho before and not only did he start he went full r3tard. Losing him is a big fear.

However ... the same fear now exists with Aguero so it's a calculated risk!

    Third time lucky.

    Foster - Mannone
    Clyne - Chambers - Naylor - Hutton - Moore
    ADM - Fab - Sterling - Siggy - Boyd
    Costa - Aguero - Pelle

    2 FTs, nothing itb

Was thinking of doing Naylor -> Jagielka and Sterling -> Eriksen

Already have Pelle so I don't think getting in Tadic as well is wise.

Don't think they are bad moves, but (a) I don't get the Jagielka love and (b) why not get Tadic? The number of players you have from a team should not stop you from getting a very good player if you think he is a going to score.

Four more fixtures until Southampton hit an absolutely horrendous run though so doubling up on their attack now would probably be a relatively short term move.

      2. michudagawd
        • 13 Years

I just think having 3 Southampton players is overkill and while I agree that Tadic is a very good player I think Eriksen is also capable of delivering the goods consistently. And yeah I'd prefer to get Baines of course but Jagielka offers a cheap way into Everton's defence and is good for regular bonus points.

I've settled on Sterling > Eriksen.

Both quality players playing in team that look quite poor atm. Sterling has a few more points but also had the easier fixtures. Eriksen has also outscored him over the last five or so weeks and proved yesterday that he is capable of delivering even against the top teams. Plus at under 8% ownership Eriksen is a nice differential and may well remain so for a while as people either prefer Tadic or already have Chadli.

The real benefit is the extra 1m saved though. Enough to replace Costa (if I have to), or upgrade Siggy when he hits rough fixtures, or just upgrade my defense in general. I think that makes it a risk worth taking....

No one is essential I guess but look at his scores. Has only drawn a blank twice.

Frankly from what I have seen he is unplayable most the time. Your buying consistancy and explosive potential all in one. Not much risk in captaining him either. Fantasy gold by all accounts.

            "Don't have to be such a cu-nt."

Mate, you give advice like that & you expect us to accept it at face value?
Think before you try & *help*. You just told the guy to sell Costa? :S

Further, listening to managers pressers & accepting what they say at face value could be one of the worst things you can do...
Think about it, why would they reveal anything they didn't have to, to their opposition?

This isn't to say we completely discount everything we hear but, if you checked the Team News on this site (or many others) you would *know* pretty much what to do with Costa this year.

You're ridiculously pretentious. You're assuming your advice is better. Also, regarding Costa, even with the team news people still aren't certain whether or not he'll start. Getting rid of him for Aguero isn't that bad of a move. Aguero has really good fixtures ahead of him. I'd rather have Fabregas, Baines and Aguero over Baines, Costa and another midfielder.

                @AA7

                First, the question was:
"Worth dropping either fab or costa to get baines in?"

You then replied: "Drop Costa. He's such a pain to own."

There was nothing said about Aguero, or then we may have had something to talk about.

As for being pretentious, sure I'll agree & I've been called much worse however, looking back do you think it was best to suggest that he sell Costa?

Finally, "team news people still aren't certain whether or not he'll start". Sure, we all know that but, to put more emphasis on the manager's statement's at the cost of heeding the news gathered here seems short sighted, right?

                  • 12 Years

"Don't drop Costa if you don't have Aguero though..."

He has Aguero, thus dropping Costa is more effective in my opinion than dropping Fabregas.

I'd rather have Welbeck and Baines over Costa and 4.0M defender. Costa has given me a headache and Welbeck is more than capable in the next 3 games or so to outscore him.

                    Sure, that's fine.
I'm picking up what you're putting down, now.
Although, you didn't say that originally, you said b/c he's a "pain to own". So, you could understand why I was skeptical?

In the end, I think we can agree that the best thing to do with Costa is just wait & see a little bit right?
Selling him before we *know* what's actually going on seems a bit hasty.

I can see why you think keeping Costa is a really good idea. I'm having a hard time myself deciding whether or not I want to do Costa>Aguero using my FT. Being burned by Costa in the past tempts me to do this even more hence my comment "pain to own"

and yeah I usually wait until Friday night to do my transfers.

I was just offended by what you said:

Do you think Chambers is a good option for a defender under 5m? Or are there better options (I have Bertrand)

I'd like to think so, Arsenal desperately need Koscielny back though and some protection in front of the back four, extremely exposed against Hull, Diame tore through the midfield on numerous occasions.

Is Koscielny not wrecked? Read they want Van Dijk from Celtic in Jan.

I get it but... IF there's ever a week where the *most pressing* issue for my roster is addressing the fact that Terry hasn't got any BAP's yet then I'll probably just save my FT for next week.

I don't know if I could ever use a FT just to take out a nailed on Chelsea defender.

Indeed. One of the most consistant players being dropped because he has missed one match.

I don't care if his manager says his legs have fallen off, if he ends up playing anyway who cares.

    B. Alcaraz and Ramsey/Walcott

Walcott is fantasy gold I'd fit, period. Get him in when up to speed.

That may take 3/4 weeks though so I would assess nearer the time.
